This is a sequel to a video I made 4-5 years ago, defending this very film, narrated by my pip-squeak self. Rewatching Legacy, I found even more aspects that I loved about the movie and felt like I needed to make a definitive version. I will always love and back this incredible film.

Editor's Notes: Had two back-to-back errors beginning at 3:01, in which you can see cropped white text pop up in the bottom right. Unfortunately... you can't see what they say. First error: I say Flynn went missing in 87', the correct year is 89'. Following that, I call Journey's rock ballad, "Separate Worlds", when the correct title is "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)". Lastly, we have a poor quality clip of Episode 5 at the end, this was done to avoid any copyright issues. It bothers me too...but hey, what're you gonna do.

Great video my friend, Yes, 🌎In a world filled with violent, vulgar, non creative and non artistic movies nowadays This Movie touches feelings of love, wonder, team, perfection, loneliness, fun, trust, naiveness, adventure, repent, family, & sacrifice. ....wow. There are many scenes I love in TronLegacy, (When Quorra aks Sam to describe the sun, When Flynn shares when Clu first rebelled, Rinzler's slowmo jumps, & of course the Final Flynn-Clu confrontation, .......but the Light Jet scene, towards the end, when Flynn recognizes the danger of the situation and asks Tron only 1 sincere question: "Tron, what have you become?" and Rinzler(Tron) internally struggles, ...but Repents... turns back to the good side, and helps his friends, that scene along with the musical piano notes, I find it deeply profound. The Soundtrack is a 1 in a million masterpiece, and of the many amazing tracks in the Album (Recognizer, Flynn lives, Son of Flynn, Disk Wars, The Grid) I believe "Finale" is the most complete & powerful track in the album. :)

It is heart-warming to see so much love for this movie. I spent two years of my life on the visual effects over at Digital Domain and it is probably the work I am most proud of. For those who notice the less-than-perfect digital version of "young Jeff Bridges" for the CLU character, well, the same technology that was used to win an Academy Award for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was used in Tron: Legacy, but Jeff Bridges refused to wear the facial performance capture rig that made Benjamin Button so successful (Brad Pitt was totally on board and a total trooper for his part). The lack of a facial performance from Jeff Bridges meant that the facial animation team had to do it all manually, and you can easily see the difference that made in the final product.

I know it's been a while, but I just wanted to say that you and your team did a wonderful job. I revisited this movie about a month ago and I realized just how much of a gem this movie is, and the visuals have not aged a bit since its release. I must say, it's rather weird hearing about Jeff Bridges not wanting to wear the face rig, considering he sounded rather enthusiastic about all the technology that was used in the film during its promotion.

  • @elliottwarkus8643

    @elliottwarkus8643

The thing about CLU's face not ever quite looking right is that it works, because the whole point is that CLU is an imperfect copy of Flynn, incapable of growth or change. Intentional or not, CLU's appearance is a subtle but unsettling reminder of his tragic story every time he appears onscreen: despite his obsession with perfection, he's the only one in the movie who will never quite be perfect, and we can't help but see that. It also suggests that his rage at the world comes from his insecurity about the one-two punch of being "betrayed" by his creator and knowing somewhere deep down that he's wrong in a way that can never be righted. It's hard for me to imagine what this movie would be like with a more accurate digital recreation of young Jeff Bridges, but I don't think it would be an improvement.

Tron was introduced to me by my dad when I was about 7 years old, in the early 90's, he saw my love of video games and had a inkling I would enjoy it. Clearly he was right, sitting on the edge of my parents bed watching the movie for the first time I remember being enthralled by it. Years later the sequel is released and as I sit there in the theatre watching it when those opening lines of Kevin talking to Sam about The Grid started I actually started crying. Sitting there myself I was sad my dad had passed before he got a chance to see what Tron had evolved into, the time, the tech, it is gorgeous. Tron Legacy always hurts because it has a strange sentimentality to it, like to me this movie is 99% complete and to no fault of it's own. It will never feel complete until I get to share it with my dad.

What I love about Tron: Legacy is the justice it did for the first movie. They improved the visuals making it look more futuristic at the time and more realistic, and they kept my favourite things from the original Tron movie like the lightcycles and the Recognizers and they improved them both visually and technology wise. If Tron 3 is still in the making, im sure we won't be disappointed even if story-wise it might not stand up to Tron: Legacy. The atmosphere as it is will do the rest, thats for sure.

Not only that but the Disney XD show, Tron Uprising, also bombed and gained a cult following. If I were the in Disney's shoes I wouldn't really know what to do with the franchise even if people like it. Facts are that the franchise keeps bombing financially. And it's sad to see.

I just love the movie. The visual is amazing. The neon lights of this world make it surreal and beautiful at the same time. The music is epic. Daft Punk nuff said. But the thing that most people underappreciated is the story. It's simple yet interesting enough for me to want to know more. It's like your watching a video game's story. Nothing is too mindblowing but you progress with the character to find the conclusion. Of course there are bad things like the cheography is pretty bad, the fight is not satisfying enough, the story is a bit slow. But overall I think the movie doesn't deserve all the sticks like critics made it to be.

I saw this movie in-house when I was nine. A month later my dad surprised me with an MP4 player with the soundtrack uploaded on it. It was 2010, and the Recession (among other things) took just about everything we had, yet my dad made sure he and I had a night out. I don't know what he sacrificed to make this happen, but I remember walking out of the theater as any nine-year-old who just saw their new favorite movie would, sound effects and all, and I remember the smile he wore on his face, like all of our family's problems had vanished for the night. Even today, listening to the soundtrack and watching the movie brings me right back to being nine years old, barely older than Sam was in Tron: Legacy. The father-son narrative hits harder each time I watch the movie, and while I relate more to Sam, being the man chasing after his father, I'm sure my dad relates more to Kevin, which deepens the movie even more for me. I cannot understate what this movie means to me.

Great video. I love this movie so much. I saw it over 10 times in theater and countless times at home. Watching this video still gave me goosebumps at certain moments. To ME, it is the perfect movie. 🥰

When someone makes a well crafted video of your thoughts on an underappreciated film... This is just excellent.

I really don't understand why Joseph Kosinski's movies aren't better appreciated. Both this & Oblivion are sci fi master classes. & yet somehow both are considered "meh" at best by most. It's really quite disheartening.

Happy anniversary to Tron Legacy (2010) *Dec 17 2010* for turning 10 years today (US). For me it is still the best film Disney has produced in the decade and it really deserves a new installation in the Cinema and for Disney+. FLYNN LIVES! Saw it at The El Capitan Theatre. Loved this film so much. Saw it in the theater in 3d. I remember the end credits music with the surround sound of the cinema and just sat down and listened. I was the last person in the cinema that day. Such a beautiful memory

Absolutely beautiful video man! Your editing was fantastic, and really love you giving your perspective and thoughts about this movie. Easily, it was no less than one of my favorite movies as a kid and still is now. There’s just so many incredible elements to it that I appreciate, adore, and love! I’d be crazy if I were to give it anything less than a 9, love this movie so much and appreciate you making this video! Much love to ya and anyone else reading this right now❤

I just never bought the whole “spontaneous creation” of the “?ISOS?” I think it’s hinting that it is actually possible in the real world. I think the line in the movie was “the conditions were right and it happened” This just sounds like every scientist trying to explain the Big Bang or evolution. Which as a kid sounded very stupid to me. I remember asking my 8th grade science teacher (who was teaching how the Big Bang happened and where we come from), “ayo Mrs Hinki, but how was the small young Big old bang created?” To which Mrs Hinki replied “mm, we don’t actually know” (in the nice Mrs Hinki way she said it). Me knowing she must have misunderstood me, I said back again to her “no like where did the Big Bang come from, like what caused it” I’m getting tired, she said we don’t know where Big Bang came from, evolution is dumber than that so suit yourself. Pray for Mr and Mrs Hinki, last I checked there baby girl had cancer

I like to think that the because Flynn pretty much built the Grid from the ground up, the ISOs are a response to Kevin’s direct contact. No other system in the world had the contact of a user, therefore no ISOs occurred. The ISOs are essentially Kevin’s children.

It’s science fiction, so everything is based on *theoretical* and fictional science. If you can suspend your disbelief that there are societies and people inside the machine, then it’s not a huge stretch. The amount of random code and variables Flynn had to write for the Grid probably left the door open for stuff like this to happen. Parameters can be met that aren’t expected.
