We Did This To Ourselves

This is the silliest issue in American politics, and you can do something about it.
There’s a giant housing affordability issue in the US that largely stems from a housing shortage. We know we should build more housing where people want to live, especially housing that’s affordable. But the way the system works, individual projects often get slowed down or crushed by local opponents who don’t want the housing built in their backyards.
But there’s hope for the future!
Some towns and cities are ready to allow more housing, and they just need help implementing the right local zoning rules. That help can come from the Federal government via the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It’s a low-cost, high impact policy that really helps.
Individuals can sign this petition to encourage HUD to offer research and technical assistance to cities around the country: actionnetwork.org/petitions/l...
Elected officials at the city, county and state level can get in touch via this form for our local government alliance: airtable.com/app2RFxKomBATQfJ...
We’re putting together a support letter from cities, towns and unincorporated counties with populations under 100,000 residents to show HUD that this policy would cater to much smaller jurisdictions than their typical programs.
If you're a company or an entity that wants to join Up For Growth and endorse legislation that would make it easier for HUD to conduct research and technical assistance, you can do that here: upforgrowth.org/member-networ...

That's right ! In the future you're gon'na get about a parking space for an apartment and you don't even want to know how much it's gon'na cost . One window , one door , a doormat for an area rug , you get the idea .

Haha. Most people would be happy with just living twenty minutes from their job. Jokes aside, of the small amount of housing we build, we put way too much in flood zones.

Did you see the Supreme Court ruling about unconstitutional “takings”. Lawyers aren’t cheap but they may be able to help with those fees in some cases. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g3xlubmLfNS5hqg.html

I hope this is also helps folks become home owners instead of renters. So much land/residential units get bought up by foreign and domestic companies. This will ultimately make them control the renting market and in no way give any long term solutions

Good pint. There’s actually a bit I left out when the acting secretary if HUD talks about the manufactured home duplex. She says that’s a great example of a unit that lets people build two units, live in one, and rent the second out to pay for the investment. So they do have ideas that will promote home ownership!
