When are you guys going to add cushioning to the Gesture? I also wish the gesture’s seat base was tilted slightly backwards to push your weight into the back and lumbar

I wish you guys would make one for the steelcase gesture. I love my chair but man the seats could use a lot of help. I've seen many people complain about the seat as well so I know I'm not the only one who would love a more comfortable seatpad.

This is definitely one that is on our radar, but it's a bit more complicated to add some additional thickness to the seat on the Gesture due to how it is constructed (it uses a rubber "boot" under the seat to hold the fabric in place). Due to this construction, adding additional seat thickness gets difficult. Definitely something we are exploring though :) -DC

The seat thickness is the only reason I don’t buy a Gesture. That tailbone gets sore!

The way the gesture seat cover is constructed (rubber bottom and sides) limits the pad thickness to factory thickness. Unless the kind folks are willing to create a new thicker structured rubber seat cover, gesture thickness is not something likely to change.

I just ordered my first Steelcase chair from your company last Thursday and it's the remanufactured Amia with Orchid BioKnit. I'm even more excited to receive it now! My current chair from Costco looks like it's been through a shredder and leans to the left. I can't wait to finally have a comfortable chair again!

@@Erksah02 Look for the BTOD video about an uncomfortable chair. The idea is that too much foam puts you in a position that puts additional stress on your back, even if the seat feels comfortable. I have no idea if this is going to cause problems or not, but it is something to keep in mind if you end up having back issues some time after getting the chair.

@@nanoflower1 i mean its very personal no? That is kind of the point of watching said videos. Some people need that additional foam(i am very thin) while it may be hurtful for others. I dont know to be honest but I definitely agree that it could be a bad thing for some people

Yea at this point we haven't started that process and if we did it would be a while before we released it. Remember we do have (1) free 30 day return on remanufacture and 14 day returns for authorized returns. The amia and leap v2 are great chairs and the new seat pad is amazing on them.

Question, as a very short person (5'1"), I assume the new seat pad will also add 1/2" extra minimum height to the chair? I bought a remanufactured Amia chair last year (which I love) and specifically avoided the extra foam because I feared it would add extra height. Just something I think other short customers need to consider when making a purchase, if that's the case.

I feel the same way. I went with an Auth returned Amia instead of the remanufactured for this reason. 1/2 inch is 1/2 inch. That isn't how steelcase designed the chair. So... I'll stick with stock until maybe 5 years from now.

The 1/2 in will compress down by your weight so I think the height difference when sitting is a tiny fraction of an inch.

Yup this is true. Idk. Maybe its comfy, I'm not sure. I have a new amia. Love mine the way it is so far. But, I'll prolly try this when it gets older. @@amadtyper

Great question! So when seated in the chair actual height change from adding the half in will maybe add an 1/8 of an inch because of the compression. This new pad is the exact same to the size of our remanufactured Amia seat with the half in foam added in the past. This just allows us to instead of adding that foam piece to the old foam, we now just have a brand new seat with the same size and specs. All of the ergonomics of the chair is the same and it's just a 1/2 in extra of foam.

Had the same concern over the leap. It would be really great if they had a shorter gas cylinder available as an option.

The OEM Amia Seat pad is still a great seat.

Heya! Just came across this looking for videos on how to do it myself, but buying from yall seems like a MUCH easier option lol. A question regarding the seat pan though - When I order from yall, do I get sent a whole upholstered deal (pan + foam + fabric all stapled nicely), and I just ship my old set back? Or will I be reusing my current seat pan and swapping out the pad and fabric only?

You get the whole seat from us with the seat pan and mechanism so you can just swap the seat and put the old seat in the box that the new pad came in with the prepaid return label provided and send it back. Hello, three questions : What is the double rubs rating of the new wool option ? Will the plusher seat pad increase back pain due to unstability for a 175lbs 5'11 person ? Can you ship to europe ?

If you have an Amia already you can get only your seat pad reupholstered with the new Amia pad, but we don't sell the foam pad by itself. With the upholstery service there is a swap with the old seat on your chair and we send a free shipping label for the old seat to come to us.

I was wondering would you be able to give your experience with the chair? I'm looking to get a new one and I'm over 300 pounds and usually get the big cushioned chairs but they never last too long. Is this comfortable for a wider person?

Try to find used office chairs around you and try them out. That way you know what would work best for you. There may also be a steelcase dealer near you that you could try some out.
