The reaction was not all Australians. Australians sat back watching, feeling that many were reacting due to emotional distress, the financial strain, the limitations and restrictions, separation from loved ones, lack of faith in vaccines etc. Yes, Australia did well in the numbers per head. Yes Aussies gained timely financial help from the Government. Yes, we all wanted less restrictions, and some Premiers over reacted. Bottom line is though, we had a low death rate, we lost fewer people. Ask someone who lost a family member or someone they loved to Covid, be grateful you didn’t. Thanks.

( how do possible differences in reporting, treatment, genetics, mask wearing culture etc make an impact too ? ) US CDC state 78% of covid hospitalizations are overweight/obese. Australian covid deaths per million are 281 compared to Japan's 230 pm which had voluntary lockdowns. Why the difference ? What can we learn ? People feel anxious about the future..pandemics,climate change etc .. who is going to comfort us , hold our hand and where are they taking us ? .. a better functioning democracy or a technocracy providing efficiency/safety to mitigate the risks out there but with less freedom ? So he’s telling us how to react to viruses but we should think about preventing, building healthier nations - nutrition and movement is the key. What I see here in his speech is basically trying to control wind. Really? Look being healthy is good. I think we can all agree. The point being made here is that with attention paid to detecting and responding to the natural threat from disease due to organisms that simply see humans as a place to grow. Just remember that before North Central and South America were ‘discovered’ many millions of physically fit, organic food eating people lived ‘in tune with nature’ in their homeland. The death toll from the introduction of disease due to first contact was astounding. There is no way to argue that these people weren’t moving or eating well - although I would bet they were very unhappy when their loved elders historians and knowledge keepers succumbed to opportunistic infection as well. While I’m eating my healthy breakfast and getting ready to walk to work I will contemplate the science that gives hope and opportunity future generations.

There is NO evidence that Nero started the fire. Yes it was a tough time, people suffered and people died, mistakes were made. But when compared to every other developed nation, Australia did MUCH better. And that’s the only meaningful way to characterise the response. No, he acts as an influencer. Playing a calculator. When arguing about climate, his an environmental scientist. When arguing about electric/hydrogen cars, his a physicist and engineer. Yeah, we need to get products out faster, just like Windows, with all its bugs and blue screens of death, only next time our playing with molecules might wipe out humanity in its totality.

I like the concept but I have two questions: 1. If we have 370,000 firefighters just in the US how will 3,000 GERM staff members fight pandemics around the world? 2. How do you implement GERM in hostile countries?

The reason why there are so many firefighters around the US is because they are fires every single day in many different towns and cities. There is a pandemic every what 100 years maybe.

I can't see neither likes or dislikes on mobile but likes are 3500 and dislikes are 1800, wouldn't be surprised if they reversed it like they've done before on white house channel for Brandon.

@@songsbydaniel sorry mate you might need to get a little more research from actual Australians instead of whatever news your getting it from, here's an example... the Starbucks store couple suburbs over never closed and we where free to go get our mocha frapps whenever we pleased, also kinda glad you didn't come over, you would have definitely stayed 🤣

We did, but only after seeing the disaster that unfolded in Europe, Italy in particular. So in many ways we were just lucky, our government had no more foresight than any other government.

We did. 2020 and 2021 were by far the best years of my life. I was never more honoured to be an Australian than I was in those 2 years!

Many of our founding fathers were vollunteer firefighters. I read this in volunteer firefighter manual. Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock. All vollunteer firefighters.

Covid is proof we should all take more pride in being competent with understanding entry level science as citizens of the world. Same way the Great Depression and great recessions reawakened financial literacy

Agreed. This is a great reason to get educated on science so we can analyse data and not get sucked into believing false information. I mean, look how easily Qanon was able to brainwash people, all because people are scared and don't understand science. I think equipping ourselves with information and creating a system where we know we'll be safer next time around is the best we can do.
