I love the design on your cards. It looks like marking. Are you engraving, etchings or marking the stainless steel? Although I'm new to lasering we learned the hard expensive way that all these methods are not the same and should not be used interchangeably. Because we listened to the wrong youtubers we made that mistake and were engraving 304 & 316 stainless steel with our fiber laser and left them out in the elements for awhile and were shocked they still rusted because the resistant surface was damaged from engraving. We researched to find out why thet rusted and found out through a few laser manufacturers that engraving has erroneously been used interchangeably in the laser community and that although we can laser stainless steel, it should never be engraved but instead be mark or stamped to ensure it maintains it's rust resistance surface. This is the reason I inquired of your method and the usage of the term "engraving".

To my understanding this is engraving it. Which could be marking the top as I cannot feel any etched in feeling when I touch it. It’s smooth. I’m not using any spray. This is not quite a fiber laser where they dig down into and etch the metal. I believe this is just marking it but I could be wrong as this is my first time using and experiencing the IR laser.

I like that the S1 can have an IR head too. But it can’t cut clear acrylic, correct? Need CO2? Torn between which diode machine to buy first. Or just jump to a co2.

Correct this won’t cut clear acrylic. You would need a CO2 laser like the P2 or Glowforge. I would recommend going up to the p2 if you have the extra cash but the only issue with that is it doesn’t have the IR head option. So you kinda got to pick between them.

@@FreshStartCustoms ahh the P2 cant swap for an IR head like the S1? Bummer. That would have solved everything Lol

@@CoffeeJake yea but it is definitely worth the upgrade. If you want to check it out that link above works for all of their models and types to compare between them.

Hello, thanks for sharing a question though. Were you in focus for the cards? And what line count did you use?

@@jamesshelton9126 are you doing in on stainless still 304 rating with the IR laser head? Mine still wasn’t a full true black but it turned out like this. My design is also a vector and not a raster. I suggest printing a test grid on the material you’re using as well to be safe.

@FreshStartCustoms yeah these are stainless steel bottle openers I use on my fiber laser. I did a test grid and much different results

@@jamesshelton9126 this is an IR head so I believe it’s a bit different than a true fiber laser since it would have different wattage
