Next time when bending or molding HMW plastics, use HEAT! You can basically mold the entire sheet to fit the hull bottom. Boiling water is great for bending and molding it because of heat distribution, but also a rosebud torch, applied sparingly, and other heating methods can be used. Also, consider cyanocrylate/powder welding for joining pieces together. You will come up with a more robust design altogether.

Can you imagine how effective this sort of boat would be for Search and Rescue operations? Specifically for the searching part. It would be so easy to put it in the bed of a pickup or on a tiny off-road trailer and get it to remove streams with ease.

For marking black uhmw, silver sharpies, or white paint pens are your best bet. Also for filling seams and gouges, you can take a small scrap, like a 1/4" wide strip, light the end on fire, and drip it like a candle. Definitely not good to breath in, but that at home plastic base welding.

Used to run the rivers in Western WA Steelhead and Salmon fishing when I was younger. My buddy and I built a 20' sled from scratch (built the trailer also). One evening while shooting back up the Snoqualmie River in the dark my buddy made a wrong turn and we ended up in a small portion of the river that cut across a big sweeping bend in the river. I was facing backwards, saw his eyes get big for a second and then he floored it. I looked to my left and right and saw riverbank on both sides, just a few feet from the boat. Turned around to see maybe a 10-12' wide trickle in front of us that was maybe 6-8" deep with a small waterfall over some small rocks at the end where it entered the main channel again. We hit that little waterfall full throttle, jumped the boat back into the main river and kept on trucking! Going 40-60mph up a shallow river in a big boat can be stressful but fun at the same time.

And damage it causes to boat that cost tons to build in parts not to mention labor that went to it. That armor is there to protect against rocks, not enable it to run on rock like its normal. Also leaving to expedition like that with out checking and double checking things like battery. Its same thing with bikes. You go to do physical work for whole day until you are exhausted, then tip your bike on its side and if you cant lift it up and kick to start, then its too heavy for you, that is just one of the things to consider when preparing to leave for expedition like that, cause you are utterly fucked if you run into issues middle of nowhere.
