The best shot ever was your son and the dog looking out the window, adorable! Absolutely love the colors inside and out, you’ve made yourselves a wonderful little place.

Guys, what a fantastic house you have made! I wish I had a piece of land of my own, then I would also start on such a sweet house. If you do it together, like you did, it also strengthens your relationship, right? It's the best kind of team building! One more thing: I thoroughly enjoyed your child. It's such a sweet little boy. Guys, have a wonderful time together in your own cabin. Compliments, greetings and love from Holland, Jeroen

Jeroen thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 The cabin was a fun project to build together, at times as amateurs it felt impossible but we had each other to lean on when things were difficult. Like you said, it definitely strengthened our relationship!
It's very nice! Great job!

Great job kids, Teamwork makes the dream work. One little FYI be careful with expanding foam insulation around window frames folks a little is better than a lot. Don’t ask me how I know 😮

When using a roller frame always use an extension pole. It will save your wrist from being damaged.

This has been a great series! I'm heading out to Maine in a couple of days to look at a few plots of land in the hopes of buying one and building. I'm not sure if you have answered this but how much did it cost to build the cabin?
@TheDoerDuo
2 жыл бұрын
We’re so glad you enjoyed it! You’ll love Maine. The total cost was $5,000 ($2,300 for exterior, $2,700 for interior). Good luck on your search!
Where did you find the stove? How sturdy is it? How long do you think it'd last with constant use? I would have skipped the rafter look.
@TheDoerDuo
2 жыл бұрын
We love the rafters! As for the stove it’s from Cabela’s, it’s called Camp Chef Alpine Heavy Duty Cylinder Stove and it’s very sturdy. We’ve been using it a lot since finishing the cabin.

@@TheDoerDuo You lost a lot of insulating power with the rafters, but it is your place. Do love the tin around the stove.

Thank you!! I’d say it took us between 20-30 hrs to finish from that point.
Nice job and a great series ! I’m also in Maine. Actually at our camp tonight and we live in central Maine. Where are you guys located ? Was any of this inspiration drawn from Dave and Brooke or Joe and Zack ? 😁 take care and great work ! You did it !

Hey Tony! 👋🏻 aren’t we lucky to live in such a beautiful state. We’re on the midcoast. Without Dave and Brooke this tiny cabin wouldn’t have been possible. They gave the instructions, we followed them and just looked up other things on KZread like framing windows and doors, etc. they made it seem possible and let me tell ya, it is! We’re now using it as an Airbnb and it’s been a big hit. Thanks for watching! 😃
I loved it. What the interior size.
@TheDoerDuo

Thank you! It’s about 120 sq ft
Don't you need metal or tile or stone behind stove, for safety?
@TheDoerDuo

Yes we have metal as a heat shield
Mr. Google introduced me to your channel. I enjoyed watching your cabin build. New subscriber now. How is the rental working out for you? Thanks for sharing with us.
@TheDoerDuo
10 ай бұрын
Thanks for following along! The rental is 90%+ occupied every month that we’ve been open and people are loving it so far. We’ve added a shower and that’s been a game changer.
Overall , pretty nice. Lots of caulking , insulation…the roof “nailers “ left spaces and weak places in your roof. 10x16? Why not get early wood delivery or stockpile it yourselves. Hopefully a porch. Your firewood situation for this winter is challenging.. Great start escéptico poor roof support. Old Billy

It’s a 10x12 and has held up well with heavy use the last 2 years. And we do stockpile our own wood.
How much did it cost to build the cabin? It’s very nice. Perfect size!
@TheDoerDuo

Thank you! It really is the perfect size. The cabin was $5,000 to build and that was during the pandemic when prices of lumber weren’t great.
I love the stove ...the metal sheet thickness ..?
@thabisomodisane1435

Base plate
@TheDoerDuo
Жыл бұрын
The metal sheet thickness is 1/16th of an inch, 2 inches away from the wall. We used copper pipes to keep it away from the wall. The base plate is 2in x 12in stone from Home Depot.
Would a 10x10 AFrame be big enough for one person and a standard poodle with a wood stove in it with a double bed in it would it be okay to stay in for a weekend or so
@TheDoerDuo
Жыл бұрын
Yes but it would be tight, our Aframe is 10x12 and fits two people pretty well with a full sized bed but we aren’t doing a woodstove as we‘ve decided it’s going to be seasonal only.
when using foam out of can, you apply with can upside down. If not, it will give undesired results - and/or wasted material.
