I'm pretty sure my workplace has got to have the highest density of GR Corolla (outside of tuning shops). Just in my unit there's 3 including mine. Everyone is totally in love with the car and we all watch your channel. Keep the videos coming. We love it! Now this car... What about NO AIRBOX!? You put the turbo in place of the airbox with or without a big K&N filter on it. Have Limit+1(😉this one's for you) make a custom Piping and Mounting kit for this setup in either down piped or up-and-out-the-hood💥 exhaust routing 👹(that one would give us nice 🔥flame action coming straight out the driver's side hood vent!)

i just hit 5k miles on mine and still scared to do a full rip on it. its crazy that guys are beating on these things under 1k miles with how long it takes to break in the clutch. i have missed a few shifts with the IMT on and the rev matching just doesnt care or have any safe fails built into it, luckily i was never pushing it hard when it happened and i still havent hit redline. after 5 months of driving it now i finally feel confident with it though.

What do mean the rev matching doesn’t care ? Try a weighted shift knob, makes shifting into gear easier with this car. (If you have the core or premium trim )

@@Steven-bt3ri there is no rev limiter on the auto rev match with the IMT. thats how you get 8400 rpm and blow the engine. most people arent even letting the clutch out in the wrong gear, its the auto rev match that is blowing the motors, but we still call it money shifting cuz they missed the intended gear. the car is extremely hard to heel-toe without a spacer behind the gas pedal since it sits so far back compared to the rest of the pedals in most cars.

pitch mount upgrade made a huge difference in shifting. a weighted knob isnt really going to fix how much the motor is actually flexing underload, which is why it feels so crappy going into gears stock.

Best GR Corolla in the world

Not gonna lie, hearing how bad the engine can get from money shifting (not even to first gear) kinda scares me. I've been driving manuals most my life but I still slip up once in a blue moon, so knowing it can be extra detrimental on a grc makes me worried Abt buying one

GR corolla is relatively easy to drive for a performance car with a manual transmission. But you have to respect the car. If you are type of person who thinks every stop light and overtake is a race and attempts to drop clutch and quick shift on public road especially when you don't have enough experience and seat time in the specific car, this WILL happen to you eventually. I have done it more than 15 years ago at a young age, which of course ended up destroying the car. It was very expensive lesson that kept my ego in check ever since. Take your time to shift. Try to enjoy the tactility of the process and the experience, not the speed. And if that's not your thing, cars with DCT may be a better option for you. No amount of shifting time you shave is worth the risk.

there's seriously no need to shift fast, even on track. it will maybe get you 0.1s across a whole lap if you shift fast every single time you shift. the downsides are you fuck up the synchros more, and mistakes are possible.

Did the engine blow immediately after money shifting or did it take a few days to break. My friend did a miss shift once 5th to 3rd but thankfully it only went to 5700 rpm @70 mph so no issues well below the redline.

Idk what happened… maybe valve made contact with piston belt the valve cracked the piston and then few days later piston made stuff hot and melted and broke

$42,000 in damage and repairs are slightly different things. You make it sound like its a $42,000 engine + transmission which would mean toyota is selling every GR at a loss

Yeah leaving the engine torn down in such a manner that could have caused a fire is baffling. You would think they’d at least pull a fuse for the pump. Dealership are a special kind of stupid.

Valvoline, extended protection, high mileage 5w-30. Has a red and gold label on it. It needs to be API SP RATED
