SXTH Element Turbo Inlet Pipe | GR Corolla Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The good folks over at ‪@SXTHElementEngineering‬ sent over their turbo inlet pipe for the GR Corolla platform. My friend ‪@Thrust83‬ was the recipient of this prototype piece and we threw it on with haste.
The stock GR Corolla inlet pipe, to the turbo is a fairly restrictive plastic piece. This was tossed to the side for a 3-inch aluminum piece, that matches up very well the MST intake.
We have more testing and driving to do, but the quick test drive and install reveals a few things... the GR Corolla's engine LOVES better air flow, the performance in mid/high range is apparent, the delivery is smoother and the noises... yes, the turbo noises are every so apparent.
Sit back and enjoy the latest install on the GR Corolla... brought to you by CarQuicks!

    The part that made the biggest difference are the charge pipes. From my experience, the turbo inlet didnt add much other than a bit of response and noise. The charge pipes actually woke the car up and gave the car much more top end power. Power no longer dies down at higher RPMs.

    Are you planning on getting one for your car? What is your favorite/ best improvement mod so far?

    Yes, I will be getting one as well. For my car, I really like how the MST downpipe has responded to the car over these miles. Power delivery is clean and the additional performance is felt.

    Does this inlet setup fit OEM airbox?

  • @CarQuicks

    @CarQuicks

    Ай бұрын

    It could, but you would need a coupler going to the OEM airbox that reduces to the size of that outlet. The inlet is 3" in size where the OEM airbox is something like 2.5" or less.

    I would like to assume this works with aftermarket intakes? Like eventuri?

    Yes, the backside of all intakes ends usually at a larger outlet then OEM, something like 3", the same as SXTH and MST intakes. I would say Eventuri would be the same.

    So Toyota are idiots and all the small aftermarket companies are brilliant? Toyota made it bad and these guys are geniuses… lol.

  • @CarQuicks

    @CarQuicks

    So a couple things here... Toyota engineers are brilliant, clearly they created the car. However, they created the car, as all OEMs do, within a certain criteria. Because if Toyota was given the green light to produce whatever they wanted, at whatever price, you end up with a million dollar Lexus LFA. The GR Corolla is produced within the guides of a sub-$40K sport compact car, so yes, absolutely can the "little guy" or aftermarket create products that improve upon factory components. The entirety of the aftermarket industry is built on this premise. From SEMA to shops building cars, the factoryOEM platform can be improved upon.

    @@CarQuicks 100% and it's getting really crazy what the car manufacturers can and cannot do with even performance cars regarding emissions and regulations. Companies like Toyota have try to check so many boxes while also not compromising the emissions profile of their ICE vehicles that we get things like bad intakes, tunes, exhausts, etc. because it may have been the only way Toyota could do it for the price point.
