. This was a pretty cool one to find. The car was very rough but will make an excellent parts car for its new owner.

I'm happy that the Avanti quickly found a new home.
I'm old enough to remember when the Avanti first came out. We were amazed. It was right out of the Space Age. Still is.
Silas it's your business, you're the one that knows how to pay the bills and manage your time. If people think they know better than you they should start their own business.
Silas, i am impressed with the daily uploads. They are good quality, 20 minutes long. I really hope you are going to keep this up, it's nice.
I am 70 and I grew up in a salvage yard and I have done many other things but nothing I liked better than salvage.

Cool....my Grandad owned a salvage here in ICT back in the 40's and 50's.
I didn’t see them step up and buy everything! Thanks for keeping it real.
You gotta do what you gotta do!
That is a cool car good thing it's going to new home for somebody to fix up
Another relaxing video before i go to bed. Thanks.
Raymond Loewy designs for Studebaker were fantastic. The Avanti is one of my favorites.
You said it all right there @1:49! It's a business first, not a popularity contest, even though you're saving what you can WITHIN the market. Excellent way to say it!
I usually don't comment..however...you must have some unhappy people that watch your channel. Just wanted to say that I love watching your work. It's your life and you let us in on it a little bit. Grateful for that!!
HI SILAS-- LOTS OF WORK !! BUT LOTS OF GREAT OLD TOYS..TAKE SOME TIME AND BREATH,..PEACE....
I agree with you, you can’t save everything, you are saving some good stuff though. 👍🏻 Years ago I pulled parts off an old car I had. People told me how valuable they were, so I put them up for sale, cheap. Months later I dropped them off at the salvage yard because nobody wanted to buy them.😠 Anybody complaining can cough up the cash and come pick the parts up.. I enjoy watching your videos. 👍👍

Yup for months had some rims off a 356 porsche no pits for sale gave up put free in paper guy drove two hundred miles ...figures
Ignore those idiots that get mad at you just because you do things your way and not theirs. Ask them how many cars will they step up and save. At car shows I often hear lookie lous' comment on the paint colors or the make of certain wheels or parts. Some even have the nerve to ask things like "Why did you put this or that on your car?" I simply ask them what they have on the hot rod THEY built. That usually shuts them up.
Studebakers were great cars,I love the classics.
There’s a registry for those Avanti’s. People are doing beautiful restoration work on them. One of my favorite cars during my childhood 👍👍😎👀
Glad you made a quick turnaround on the Avanti. I wanted the steering wheel. That dodge truck was cool id love to get something like that

Lil Red Wagon tribute would be a cool build for that old Dodge.
You're a business man. The haters have no idea of how business works. You have been at this for a while and you know how to make money. I respect what you do and how you do it.

Silas you are saving way more than most would! Keep up the excellent videos.
Another great video, thank you for all you do.Always remember there will all ways be haters and know it alls in every senerio, remember you are the boss and you can do it your way, keep up good job. Send some of yalls rain to Texas. Have a good evening my friend.
Busy
As a young man, I was really into Studebakers (graduated from HS in 1960) Actually owned two Avantis. Bought my first one in 1968 and restored it, which I needed! Bought the other in 1970. If you open the hood, and look along the top of the frame rail, just ahead of the firewall, there should be an original stainless steel VIN tag. Avantis all started with the year, followed by the letter R, then the serial number, as in 63R1234. The Avanti II models are very much like the 64 models, but had Corvette engines in at least some of them, but I don't know anything about the numbering scheme.
Cool
Silas knows how to pay the bills.
I don’t know what your planning on doing with that Avanti, but restored ones are selling for between $30,000 to $60,000. I could never afford to buy that one, it would cost me $100.000 to have someone else to do it for me. I always loved Avantis, since I was a kid. These guys that lived around the corner from me had one and a 63 Corvette split window coupe !! Good luck with your finds !!
Sweet those avantis are kinda gettin rare now love the studabaker yard clean up .
early 50s packard fender skirts
you pronounced that right....i have been in love with that car since they first came out....as a teen to see the speedo that says 160 MPH just blew my mind....make her pretty again sir.
Love the channel, epic rare cars!
I parted out Motorcycles for years, as soon as scrap day came I got crying about what I scrapped, well you had time to buy it before the scrap guy came, that yard looks like it was open to the public before you got there so its a snooze ya looze situation. As other people have said it's a business. Really enjoy your channel !!!
Love your content ,keep doing what you're doing and thank you for sharing your videos with us! 👍
I understand what you mean. You're doing good , it's a business, no museum..... I appreciate your respect for the cars ! Happy that you let people see what normally stays hidden/unseen !
Love your channel, everyday is a treasure hunt. And adventurous.
Great stuff 👏.
I’m glad you commented to the naysayers. You shouldn’t have to explain and a gentleman for you to do so.
Reality a bitter pill to swallow. Good work.
Your making the rest worth more !!! Studabaker museum south bend Indiana !!! Very interesting place!! I believe they have the last one made !! 👍😊
Keep doing what your doing ! Thank You
Good job my friend. That was an awesome video. Sold that Studebaker. Good for you. I'm glad things are going well. Keep up the good work. Love your videos every day. Good job editing.
Don't worry about all the people who are giving you a hard time, at one time I used to be into Mini trucks scene it's little trucks on airbags. I left because it doesn't seem like there's any decent people just a bunch of haters don't concentrate on them concentrate on the great stuff you're doing. I love your videos.
Always good stuff to see, thanks
When I saw the thumbnail, I didn't think it was your channel!! That Avanti, such a cool car, i'm not surprised it sold quickly. Your videos are great, keep them coming!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing this adventure with us. My friend has a 1963 Avanti and I am trying to learn as much as I can about it to help her sell it.
Love how the chrome outlives the rust.
Thanks for video love them 👍👍
Since coming accross your channel a few weeks ago Silas, I am really enjoying catching up on all of your previous episodes. And from what i have seen so far, you seem to be a most hard working and level headed busines owner, one that understands the real key diffrence between "making money", and "wasting time and money". It is your choice what you buy, and very definatelly your choice as to what what you do with it afterwards, whether it be processed or kept. Opinionated dissenters are just opinionated, and are always the worlds experts on absolutely everything. Just keep keeping on doing what you're doing, I for one am really enjoying every minute of your videos, and many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do them for us. David in the U.K.
You do what is right for you and I am behind you
Hey, love the vlogs, save what you can and within possebilites, all those mad people should come and help you and take away what they want to save, keep on going!
you only need to do that you think is right for you time is money good luck to you
No complaints here. This is one of my four or five fav channels. Not every old car or truck can be saved, but Silas does a fine job of keeping what is savable from the crush machine.
never mind the saltiness from anyone... I saw the other video and you did great and saved these last car's and truck's end days on film. Very cool ... thnx :)
Always loved the Avanti....decades ahead of it's time. That is the exact car used in 64 adverts, red over black. It had a beautiful interior, as well as knock out exterior.
The Avanti used to have a Chevrolet 327 in it. Was quite the car in its day. A gentleman in our town had a white one.
Some great very nice treasures.
Thanks. I like this car.
I found an adventure watching your video's im glad I found your channel realy awesome 👌
Great content Silas
You're saving some cool stuff. You can't save it all. The Avanti was a nice find ! My dad has had a few 53 and 54 Studes. He did have a '51 pickup that had Olds Toronado drive train. It was front wheel drive ! He traded it for a '58 Chevy 4 door hard top. Keep doing what you're doing !
Gotta hand it to you, Silas. So much hustle on your part, always the entrepreneur looking for an opportunity to make business happen, and doing these videos is just one more piece of the puzzle. Sleep sometime, though. It's underrated. :)
Glad to see your making a good effort to save parts from the crusher. I need 1936 Chrysler parts.... Please keep me in mind if you find one of these.
Beautiful car.....When I was a little kid my uncle had one and it was dark brown or black and I called it Count Dracula's car because the two bumper extensions that stick out reminded me of fangs....plus I ate a lot of Count Chocula cereal also...
Salis let them be upset you saved more then I would great job wet or dry that avanti is a keeper is a collector car love it thanks for sharing and your time.
Ignore the haters brother they can't help being jealous of you look at you your a grafter and deserve good luck in life 👍👍🤗
As you like to say Silas, it is what it is. 👍👍👍
The Avanti is a lucky car to be trucked home by someone who really wants it.
You never disappoint Silas. Pay no attention to the trolls. You have a quality channel that is very entertaining. Being a car nut since I could walk I really like what you do. I think I mentioned this but my wife and I had a chance to buy her family farm in southern Illinois. 85 acres with a log house, lake and all kinds of out buildings and old equipment for 100K. I wanted it and I would own every car for a hundred miles. But we are in Arizona. So is our family. It was an easy decision to stay put but I often think about having all that space and people all around wanting to give me their old cars for free. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
You pack a lot of good viewing into such a short video, mate. That Avanti is something I have NEVER seen and I'm so glad you showed us. Love the dash and profile of the car, but the inset face doesn't work for me.....but hey, I'm sure it would grow on me if I owned it! Sure glad it found a home so quick and to a bloke who sounds keen as mustard to get hold of it and do something with it. As to the negative nancies, you're doing what you can and taking the risk of investing the time to save what would have been a virtual pile of scrap metal otherwise.....and there has obviously been plenty of time for people to grab them up before now. The cars will live on on people's walls and I really like the wall art hooked up to a sensor light idea! That's got me thinking, eh.... I already have a couple of dual headlight grilles over the workbenches in my garage, but for something of THAT scale, I would need the permission of my nearest and dearest.....and I am not sure she would approve! Keep up the content where you can, Silas. ....and don't forget to save those after-market steering wheels if you see 'em pop up in cars going into the Megasquasher. Those wheels fetch a pretty price on eBay - especially the classic ones. I found a 1982 Momo in a rusted out Mini I stripped that several of a similar year had fetched over US$200. Quick money - and people want period steering wheels for their classics, so plenty of market for them. Just a thought :) All the best
Pretty cool stuff Silas. Hey you can bad mouth any Fords, Jeeps, etc and I'll be happy! Love that Commander hood and the Avanti. Most of that stuff has been sitting for 25 years? Prob little got sold from the pile. Shred 'em up. The Avanti is cool, make a nice project with an LS3 and 4L80 in it.
Wow, nice hunt!
I’m glad the avanti got saved
You can't make the people on the Internet happy. Happy New Year all.
Thank you for your video
Nice 👍🏿
I like the Jeeps from the Willys, and American Motors eras.
Enjoying your videos.
I can't believe people get this bent over cars and trucks that are clearly way beyond restoration and any usable parts have given up the goast a long time ago, the man tells you all on every video that he doesn't have the time or storage space for parts. In this job production is the most important thing people want the property cleaned up right away.
You do what you gotta do!
Silas, all these internet theologians giving you crap about scrapping these cars couldn’t scrape up enough money to buy two cars let alone the whole yard. This is your livelihood. Your business. You invite us into your world. The guy who had this yard sold parts for decades. Everybody had a chance to buy/save these cars. I appreciate you sharing these videos. Keep on keeping on. 👍🏻
Another great video. I work for a scrap company and my boss tries to keep everything. We just distract him and crush it.
I fully understand where you're coming from I can only imagine how hard it is not to be able to keep some of the things you run across but like you said if it wasn't you would be someone else that would just crush it all keep up the great work I do enjoy your content but sometimes I seriously have to turn it off when I see a car or truck that I would love to have that has to go to the crusher it's just too heartbreaking to watch don't worry about what other people say they're just jealous God knows I am LOL
If all the people complaining about you crushing these old cars, would just buy them from you, and put them in their backyards to rust away. There wouldn't be any more complaining. LOL. Who am I kidding? They would find something else to complain about.

'They would find something else to complain about.' Proving your own point?
Breaks my heart to see all the cars but you are right it isn't realistic to save them all. Avanti was my favorite car as a young boy when my neighbor bought a brand new one.
Save what you can, Do what you gota do!
I am glade the AVANTI was saved , I seen one restored and retomoded on a TV show on the Velocity ch. just wish I could aford 1.
We sound so alike its disconcerting, literally sounds like hearing a recording of myself, from tone to cadence to content/thoughts. Even a Studebaker connection...small world🤔🤜
not too much scrap metal in an Avanti.... 🤣 Stude enthuiasts had their chance to save the little parts so keep it up Silas!
Avanti! Your scored! I have liked these since I was a kid. A Studebaker I would like to own is a Hawk.

Commander or Starlight Coupes👍👍👍 I also like the Larks..
👍Sometimes Folks just don’t wanna hear truth. JEEPS are junk. Just ask Scotty Kilmer. I DO like the old in-line 6cyl.though. It’s all about the parts ya use when rebuilding them & how ya strengthen it. High quality parts a must. Nice save on the Studebaker but yeah, ya can’t save them all. 👍🇺🇸
dont let those idiots bother you brother im sure you know what your doing keep up great work
If I remember correctly, the Avanti was the fastest production car in it's time. A guy up the street from me had one he drove daily, like a gold color, not sure if that was an original color.
Silas you can make a belt buckle out of the Silas emblem, so when you go to Texas you'll be the talk of the town. Loved Shaun's security lights. Do you have an example of the faces that you cut out of tanks? Thanks for the upload
Cool Avanti never saw avreal one but saw adds
The Studebaker Avanti is a very nice car.
Yes that is a cool car
Actually, Studebaker's automotive division had no hope of being saved. But a company over a century old usually doesn't go away easily. The primary purpose of the Avanti was to be a "Halo" car to bring excitement to the brand and get people to the showrooms. And it most certainly did that. Not so much to buy Avantis (which were priced about the same as a Cadillac) but to buy the other cars in the Studebaker line up. People came to the showrooms to see the Avanti (once they had enough to get them into showrooms - they didn't at first) but didn't buy Studebakers. Most buyers knew by then that Studebaker was a risky proposition and likely not to be around much longer and didn't want to be stuck with a car with no company to back it up.
I used to work at Avanti motors was at one time the fastest sport car in its day
That’s a nice Dodge short bed!😁
Screw the haters, you brought them, you own them so it’s entirely up to you wether to keep them or crush them. To many people think they have the right to say what others can or can’t do.
4:50. It appears that it was parked too close to a building that burned. It’s hard to say tho. Cool car
