    How does it work? I know nothing of Pokémon. How can it be typeless?

  • @BrunoFernandes-ty7mf

    @BrunoFernandes-ty7mf

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@sonicbhoc i saw the explanation on the original video and then went to bulbapedia to understand it better hahaha But is basically: Burn Up is a move that leaves the pokémon "typeless". It is a condition in the game, but i don't know if there is other ways to do it. But basically, as a typeless pokemon, you don't get any of the usual type's bonus, advantages, disadvantages or immunities. Usually, it is just that. But Shedinja is a pokemon with only 1 HP and the Wonder Guard ability: it can only recieve damage from super effective moves. And there is the move Entrainment that makes the target have the same ability as you. Also, the move Mimic that allows you to copy one move from other pokemon. I think normally is impossible for a pokemon to have both: a move that leaves it typeless, and the Wonder Guard. Also, Arcanine probably doesn't have any moves/abilities that makes him copy an out of the field pokemon's ability. So in double battle, Tempt made Shedinja used Mimic to copy Entrainment from Alcreamie. Then, later, Shedinja used Entrainment to give Arcanine the Wondee Guard ability. Making Arcanine, then, immune to all direct dealing damage, as he has no type disadvantages (being typeless after using Burn Up), and Wonder Guard preventing it to recieve damage that is not super effective. Don't know if there's other team/moves combinations that allows this.

    @@BrunoFernandes-ty7mf i would like to add that Burn up only turns a Fire-type Typeless if Fire is it's only typing, as Burn Up can be learned by Moltres, Ho-Oh, the Coalossol line, the Centiskorch line and the Typhlosion line, although the Typhlosion line also becomes typeless when using Burn Up.

    Purrloin and Liepard used to be one of the most broken mons in history, because of their movepool, which consists with Prankster and Assist. Combine it with Dive, (also known as the Dive Cat Strategy) almost nothing can stop this menace. Sadly, it was considered as an exploit, thus, the PokeDevs even changed the way how Assist works.

Arcanine is a pure Fire type, so when it uses Burn Up, it is treated as having no type at all. He had Shedinja use Entrainment to give Arcanine Wonder Guard. Which causes only super-effective moves to deal any damage at all. A typeless Pokémon *has* no type weaknesses, so Arcanine was then invulnerable to direct damage.

  • @Fyrefrye

    @Fyrefrye

    2 жыл бұрын

    Liepard had "prankster" which gives status moves priority. It then used Assist, which lets it use a move from another mon in your party. Because he only had 1 other mon, and had made sure its move set only had 1 move that could be chosen by assist, he created a situation where he got to use V-create as a priority move. This is why the shadow sneak still went first. V-create only got a +1 to prio, and the marshadow was still faster so its own +1 move went first. Wasn't the stone edge the move he checked the rolls for and saw that a non-crit would hit between 80-95% or something like that? I think he was upset because according to damage calcs he would have lived on a few percent.

    @@intellygent-alienking5651 There's my confusion, I misread your original message as choice SCARF not BAND, so I thought you were wondering if it's speed had been boosted by an item. Band would make a lot of sense for a mon that only plans to use 1 move (and can still use others if needed though dynamax unless that's been disabled).

    @@archergaming5414 Shedinja's ability makes it immune to all attacks that aren't super effective, and Entrainment is a move that makes the target's ability the same as the user. Shedinja gave Arcanine his ability, and Arcanine used Burn Up, a move that removes the fire type after it hits. Arcanine's a pure fire type, so it ends up typeless, hence the ???, and if he has no type, nothing can be super effective, and the Arcanine is effectively invincible (unless you stall it with toxic or something). Hope this helps! :)

    @@archergaming5414 I was curious about it so here's how it works : Part 1 - The cast : - Shedinja with Wonder guard (immunity to all move that aren't super effective)and Mimic (Acquired from a Fire Red Green Leaf move tutor and trade shenanigans) - A Pokemon with the move Entrainment (Which allows to change the target's ability to the user) (Typically Lopunny and in this example) - A Pokemon with Burn Up (Burn up removes the fire type of the attacker after use), in this case Arcanine Part 2 - The Setup In a double battle, you take out both Lopunny and Shedinja, and use Lopunny Entrainment on the enemy, you then use Sheidnja's mimic on Lopunny to gain the Entrainement move Then you switch Lopunny with arcanine and use Shedinja's entrainment on Arcanine, you now have a Wonder Guard Arcanine Once Arcanine uses Burn Up, it will lose it's fire type, making it immune to all attacks. It will still be weak to Mold Breaker, weather and status effect

    @@eightee7635 mold breaker probably ruins this strat, although since the pokemon would be type ??? It might be able to take some hits, since it has no weakness, but moves like trick or treat may also be the same as mold breaker (if people actually use it lmao)
