We Are Taking Our University To Court | Andy Ngo Deplatformed

The UBC executive has cancelled our event. If UBC fails to rescind their cancellation, we will take legal action . We will of course refund all ticket holders in the coming weeks. Once we win this battle and preserve freedom on Canadian campuses, we will hopefully bring Andy back. This is just the beginning. This is the time to fight. We have retained the services of the JCCF (Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms) and will be taking action!

The penalty must send a shockwave throughout censorship Canada. Seek a billion dollar fine.

Been a supporter of the Free Speech Club since i started at UBC last year, thank you for everything you guys do! Kind of unrelated, but will anyone from the FSC be attending the Students Against Bigotry event next week about academic freedom? I had the event promoted in one of my classes, and although I have a really unsavoury view of this club(their posters around the school protesting certain speakers have been comical to say the least) I think this event might be interesting.

Maybe they’ll settle out of court like CNN recently did.

The good news is this will ultimately make free speech rights stronger.

Somehow many in this nation have either forgotten the importance of free speech or were just not taught as to why it is :( ..... unfortunately, the latter is not only more prevalent, but infinitely more disconcerting!

I hope you win your case. US colleges & University have been caving to the Antifa type for a while now.

I see two donation links. I can give an amount of JCCF or to FSC, or half of that to both. What do you prefer/what would do the most immediate good ?

Donating to the JCCF will help with the court case. Donating to the FSC will help us with the financial loss due to the schools breach of contract, but we can survive for now. The JCCF really deserves all the help they can get!

Unless I am mistaken, Canada does have 'hate speech" laws. The school can hide behind that. I truly hope I'm wrong.

True, Canada does has Hate Speech Laws, however Andy does not violate any of them. To really be guilty of hate speech, one would have to incite a genocide or violence against a group. "Lets go attack group x" would be an example. When we look at the actual legal parameters of hate speech laws, they aren't that unreasonable. The issues arise out of the subjectivity among activists in terms of how THEY define hate speech. So legally, the school can't hide behind that.
