We are out there chasing the BIG BOY 4014!! A Quick Preview - Evanston to Salt Lake
As we are out there chasing the Big Boy just now, here is a quick preview of shots between Cheyenne and Salt Lake City! So much more coming soon!!
If you are watching as this video first went up Sunday morning, the Big Boy 4014, Ed Dickens, and the fabulous Union Pacific Steam Crew are in Elko Nevada. They will depart Elko Monday Morning at 8:00 or 9:00 AM. Not sure which, probably 9:00 but assume 8:00! Don't miss the train!!

Cool journey with Union Pacific Big Boy 4014! It’s very incredible.
I was at the Roy Front runner Station when it went by. I noticed they added a diesel locomotive. Did they do that in Evanston? They did not have one coming across Wyoming. Could it be for dynamic breaking coming down the steeper Wasatch grade and from Donner Pass into Roseville?

Thanks for chasing the train for us all. I tried that last time she came through, but the crowd was off-putting. Curious about a couple of things. Wy the freight care in the train? Do you think I would have a good shot at seeing the train without a crowd in Elko on 7/19?
Are the freight cars in tow for braking or because they are new....to show to carriers? At least they patched the graffiti.

@@vinnyheaphy1372 i’m not sure why they’re picking up the passenger cars in California, but for advertising and PR purposes as well as needed breaking they added in the brand new freight cars. They’re only carrying passengers between Roseville and Sparks over Donner Summit. Union Pacific never runs passengers on the train. They will give the train over to a nonprofit as a fundraiser and they will handle that. I have known them to employee specials, but that’s the only time Union Pacific handles the passengers.
I am SO tired of seeing that damned diesel behind 4014. She doesn't need it now that she's equipped with PTC. So what gives?
