It also feels symbolic of Alicent being responsible for the "fall" of Viserys' legacy. The war of succession between Rhaenyra and Aegon marks the end of 80 years of peace, and Alicent & her father manipulating Viserys is what brought the whole mess.

Alicent once repaired that dragon for Viserys which was a symbol of her repairing Viserys’s lineage and giving him a family and sons. Now breaking the same dragon is a symbol of making his family falling apart.

Yea I really like his character a lot. Lots of flaws to his character, but that’s what I like about him, and he’s conflicting about it and WANTS to do better, but dosent know how, and no one including alicent helped him. They just forced him into the position to be king.

And a boy with a freshly dead son and too much power that doesn't know what he's doing. He's told to be kind, and he's too generous and gets scolded. He's told to be more stern and he hangs people out of revenge for his murdered baby. He'd rather be drunk with his friends in a brothel. I almost feel sorry for him

And Glynn Carney such an epic talent he is at portraying that lost boy just wanting to be given love. And when he isn’t given it he might find means to take it. That’s why he rushes to battle because he wants the love and the glory.

She tells Aegon that he has no idea of the sacrifices made, even though his SON WAS JUST MURDERED, then accuses him of not listening and learning when the small council ignores him and she herself did not attend the small council as a result of her own vices, and when Aegon pleads her for help she just insults him. Shit mother and shit queen.

Anyone who has read the books knows that Aegon is much better than useless Rhaenryra

Aegon becoming the underdog of this show is.... unexpected. Dude was unloved since he was born. Abused physically by his mother and grandmother. Seen as less. Never seen as worthy of love. In an arranged marriage. Forced to wear a crown he didnt want. Tries to do the best he can, only to be ridiculed for not being properly trained for the job, despite trying. His son is killed and nobody but his wife understands the pain and would ratyer use it for propaganda. Then tries to take initiative and is ridiculed left and right. No wonder he drinks and appears borderline suicidal. Nobody's ever loved him except Sunfyre and his kids. I tried defending Alicent before but shes a TRULY horrid person crafted by an unfair life. At least he has Sunfyre... for about another year...

Rhaenyra always addressed her half brother as "Alicent's son " or "Aegon " and "Aemond" She never addresed them by brothers or my half- brother. This was happeninig from season 1 young Rhaenyra .. the hate and resentment was both side not from the greens alone .

Yeah the scene with Aegon and Alicent pretty much confirmed in my mind that she was pretty much always a terrible mother, like Otto did to her, she maneuvered and used Aegon to be the heir for most of his life, filling his mind with poisonous and paranoia filled thoughts, but doing nothing to make sure he was a competent ruler, because ultimately neither her nor Otto wanted Aegon to be a competent ruler who could stand on his own two feet, they wanted him to be weak and impressionable, so that they could both control things, and so she continues their family's toxic cycle. She even tells Aegon he should be 'grateful' for her machinations, the same way Otto told her that she should be grateful for his, as it made her queen. Forgetting the fact that him on the throne was ever her desire, Aegon wanted to run away and flee from the throne. She is just as manipulative and cold as Otto was to her. Yes she may have had a slight change of heart at Viserys' last feast, but a lifetime of resentment, anger, and hate is not so easily erased by one moving speech, and ultimately she heard what she wanted to hear on Viserys' death bed.

I officially dislike Alicent so much now. Not hate. But I dislike her so much for being a terrible mother. At least Cersei was a good mother and loved her children. As Tyrion put it, it was her “one redeeming quality”.

She gave Aegon very good advice but he never listened , also , she told him last season that Aemond is his brother and he should never tease him . Alicient lost control of her children and that partially her fault and their fathor viserys who did not give a damn about them , all he cared about was Rhaenyra and her bastard strong sons

Poor Aegon was forced to be king, and he tried to do a good job and make the smallfolk love him, and now everyone is cutting him out :( even though I’m Team Black, I feel bad for him

I literally BALLED MY EYES OUT so bad!! Rhaenys was my favourite character, such an amazing strong woman, she will be deeply missed. She would've been such a powrful hand to Rhaenyra!

Alicent let rhaenyra escape just a day ago and has the nerve to trash aegon for not being a good war player 😭all she does is sit there, waste screentime (like Mysaria thanks the seven she didn't appear too much) and bring down her own children. Aegon is grieving and screaming for comfort and she just made him go to a suic1de mission. My and sunfyre are the only ones who got him lmao I knew poor sunfyre wouldn't get even 2 minutes of happy screentime before battle, He got 10 seconds 💀and the horrible editing didn't make his glittery scales justice, this show hates pretty things.
