BMW M3 Touring Fuel consumption weighted combined in l/100km: 10.3 (WLTP), CO2 emissions weighted combined in g/km: 235 (WLTP). Provisional values.
Official data on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. Yeah that's great, but their biggest market can't even buy one when they can buy an RS6, simply because bean counters said it's not "profitable enough." Notice they didn't say it wouldn't be profitable, just not "profitable enough." That's a giant middle finger to the U.S. market. ✌

@@maxmoser412 Well that's only partially right, they failed the crash testing in the US and adapting it to the US regulations would have just been way too expensive.

@@jerezM392 not true. They never tried to homologate them, and they only made it harder for themselves by not bringing the standard 3 series wagons here. It was easy for Audi because they already import the A6 wagon. Way I understand it, BMW would have had to allow the U.S. to crash test 5 cars. They simply didn't want to eat the cost. Futhermore, they very likely could have also got around the physical crash test and any other requirement simply by limiting production below the threshold, exactly like they did with the M4 GTS. That would have at least been better than not selling any here, and they could have charged a fortune and sold them all in the first hour if they went that route. But no, once again we get nothing. Meanwhile X2/X4 are cheap turds that nobody wants.

Amazing job by the team. Having been privileged enough to briefly work with BMW AG engineers for a couple of years in Los Angeles as a BMW Durability Test Driver I got to see some of the work done behind the scenes and you really feel the passion to make EVERY car great, not just the M models. This was especially true during my time there as I drove the original X5 prototype, the E39 M5 prototype and the E46 M3 Prototype. So what was my favorite car to drive at the time in the mountains above Los Angeles........ E39 540i Touring with Sport package, such an amazing car to drive even with the automatic transmission which intelligently changed gear as though it was a manual. Just love the look of BMW Touring models and would be driving one now if available, especially as boot space is very limited in my 330e

As a e46 Wagon and E46 m3 owner in the US, I would definitely love for this to come to America.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this wagon, to the point where I’m most likely going to move back to Europe to be able to buy one & enjoy it for the rest of my life! Amazing job by all involved in making this touring a reality! 🚀

It would be interesting to hear in what way Mr Weidinger changed the tire pressure readings (at 6.02) compared to standard, or is that a secret? Preferably the exact numbers, but at least in what direction he wanted to fine tune the balance. Nice film.

A very fast time, no doubt. However I did not expect the gap to be 5s between the m3 touring and the m4 xDrive. More like 2-3s. I guess the weight penalty was greater than I expected.

How big is the RANGE and STANDARD DEVIATION in those times? …let’s say when driving 10 times a record NOS round with same driver and same car !

@@vollcare4076 A fair point. I was comparing to Sport Autos timed lap of the m4 which is usually the best of 2-3 laps. I suspect BMW can make far more attempts along with minor tweaks before settling on the best lap.

@_GFV93 it’s the same engine as the g80/82 m3/m4 so the emission components would be the same. So emissions isn’t why. It’s not coming to America because BMW believes wagons don’t sell well here. SUV’s sales are hot here so having a wagon could cut into their SUV sales.

Please make an M3/5 Touring with 8" Ground clearance, Rally mode... for fast dirt roads, with skid plates. able to take on sand dunes.... Dakar. sell a million of them. hell make an off road X5... nah... proper touring. (really Volvo Cross Country with M blood in veins)

Love the content, but English overdubs would be great for the folks in the U.S. who buy over 70% of your products. Giving us the ///M3 Touring would also be a nice gesture! I would have ordered one fully optioned with every ///M Performance option, just like I did with our $95k 2016 F80 ///M3 and our $69k 2019 F31 330i. You would have made another $10-15k profit on my G81 alone. It's that not enough for you now? BMW never sold many wagons here because they were lazy and never really tried. 👋

America has said that the M3 Touring and many other cars are not safe enough to be sold in the US. Nonsense because in Europe they're approved, just a gang of car haters. By the way, if BMW would make it good enough for America they had to go all the way back to the chassis so that would be to expensive.

@@RDW4816 I believe the main problem is 1. US regulations do not allow to have the battery in the passenger compartment (the Touring trunk is not separate), so that would need changing and 2. the homologation costs would be extremely high per car because they could not be spread across the base model, so the G81 would have to be like 200k USD, at which point there's no longer a business case if there ever was one.
