@MGH you need to use Almiron as an Advanced Playmaker. It’s literally perfect for your tactics. When you looked in this video, you were looking at box-to-box. Not AP like you thought. You didn’t notice. Just letting you know!

Using almiron as a mezzala would be far more effective in a possession system

Dont look at the green or yellow or orange circles so much, when youre deciding the players role. Rather go on to the player select the roles and compare the needed stats with the stats of the player. After that even if the circle if red in the begining, if you train him as that role and play him at that role it will get yellow after like half a year and green after a year or something. But that wont have thatbig of an impact on his performance :)

Couple of things 1) Pause or use quick sub, never good making changes with game still ongoing 2) Start making 1st time players that aren’t getting much game time available for U23. Or when u do need them to start they’ll still not be match sharp

some pieces of advice:- 1. Watch it on comprehensive or extended mode then you will be able to watch mire whats wrong with your team, 2. Sub the player who is not doing well like who is not passing well or not getting his shots on target, who missed a pen etc., 3. when you are 1-0 down don't just put it on Attack mode as that exposes you defense much more so they can easily counter attack so take it easy on players and also use concentrate n encourage shouts more rather than show some passion or demand more as they are more effective, Concentrate when you are leading and encourage when you are down. 4. Always use pre-match talk in calmly especially in away games as it doesn't get your players nervous and against rivals 'this is for the fans' also get an assistant who has descent motivation stats n use his talks. 5. Also tweak players instructions as they are very effective like 'more direct passing' for attacking minded players like wingers or inside forwards n must for strikers also the front 3 should be set to 'rome from position' as it gives them more fluidity and creativity. 6. Try to tweak with set pieces like changing the set piece takers n also positioning the players in proper way in the box and outside the box, remember its very important for set piece takers to have good set piece rating like 15+ for consistent goals from set pieces and also the positioning and off the ball movement, heading(its very important) for the players inside the box and decision making, long shot for the players outside the box etc.

To be fair, he does get quite a few corner goals. It's just that some of his goals are offside so maybe his players have low anticipation/acceleration or his players hover around far post in his setup?

@@flamingxflamingo5330 Well thats true to some extent, default tactics n set pieces can make you just that good but to score consistently you have to position your players as well as use more than 1 set piece routines n mainly I tried o told him about the other things mainly watching the game in comprehensive mode as it will give the dude advantage for sure. It is a football MANAGER game and still you are just watching your players play only for 1 minute which itself is telling something doesn't it?

Matt, signing good players won’t win you the league. The default tactics won’t get you far especially if you’re really predictable and you’re using the same tactics all the time. Check the opposition reports, take your time in training and set up your team well depending on the other team’s weakness. Also do all the pre-match stuff yourself, even if it takes more time the assistant manager isn’t reliable and if something isn’t going well in game change something, make the team play with higher tempo, more pressure and go ‘overload’ it will get more goals. Also speak to players before subbing them on. Oh also when you sign players don’t just sign them because they have decent stats. Sign them to suit your system because a good player is nothing if he isn’t playing in his preferred role.

4-2-3-1 is a very risky tactic, simply because it is insanely demanding from your central midfielders and your full/wing backs. You have to have very very good players in those positions in order to pull of a 4-2-3-1 successfully. 4-2-3-1 requires your CMs and WBs/FBs to cover, defend and support both the flanks and the middle of the pitch, i.e. to both defend and support attacks. You don't have such talented and gifted players in your team, who have Decision making and who are able to defend, support and attack. Only with them you can make this tactic work. ;) The game engine for FM19 supports wide play very much, so if you leave the wide spaces undefended or badly defended, as you are currently doing with 4-2-3-1, even the worst of teams will score against you if they play on the wings. The best tactics in FM19 feature defensive midfielders all the way. I myself have used 2 DMs tactics and had insane success with them. Also, in FM19 I recommend avoiding the usage of AM. Because if the AM has a bad game, the whole team has a bad game and the tactic falls apart. 4-2-3-1 is effective only if you have smart players and hard working team who know how to move with and without the ball. Therefore, I reckon It should not be used with a side like Newcastle who are expected to barely survive the drop and who can't contend with most of the teams in the league. In Premier League, a nice working tactic is 4-4-2 (2 DMs), 4-1-4-1 (either with flat 4-men midfield or with 2 forward wingers), and also 4-2-3-1 DM Wide systems. You can build insane counter attacks with these tactics while at the same time remaining solid at the back. Roles like PF, F9, VOL, HB, DLP, A, BWM can help you a lot in those cases.

4231 can work but it depends on how you can create overloads I think that 4231 double dm system you recommend would be very effective, as it is very hard to break down. The 2 DMs need to be aerially dominant however as it is likely that attacking teams will hit early crosses, but Matt has just signed a dm who is weak aerially and poor technically. You may want a Segunda volunte or a dlp in that case. You also need to create a system for teams like Huddersfield who will park the bus. But Matt tends to make symmetrical systems with roles that mess up his overloads and attacks

When you make a tactic you have to consider what the positions individual instructions are set too. I haven't seen you interact with individual tactics as well and they can really take a tactic from decent to powerful.

I'm really enjoying the series but matt you should really give a go at creating your own tactics, if you want your gk to throw it out to the wing backs is one of the options! Hover your mouse on the name of each option to get some tip to understanding how you are going to make your team play Keep those episodes coming!

Improving your staff will help no end!

Bit of advice read the emails where it says about and contracts and that from your assistance and change things what they recommend. You had a email about the roles and training which will make you players better but also give them another position to play if you clicked the tick

1. If u want dubravka to to play to wing backs you can do that 2. You were annoyed at the of CP palace game because you were playing it backwards however if u changed in the game from disciplined to expressive he would’ve been more aggressive dribbling forward and playing a piercing ball

Little advice : when you use default tactics don't change the role of the players too much otherwise it won't work anymore !

Pause the match when your making changes!!

MGH just wanted to say you were the first youtuber I ever watched way back in the Fifa12 days.. Loving the FM content keep it up!

I always liked the idea of inserting a (specified) Club legend into your team & building your current existing squad around him... The only caveat/stipulation is you don't transfer players in/out in the initial season. Perhaps an exception could be (other than to injury) bringing in players at your clubs current calibre/level *(I.e: Club rep = National = Player rep National)* The focus/emphasis is your *'Legend'*

The reason you are getting injuries is due to your training schedule. You need to learn how to set up training or at least lower your training intensity. Also hire some better fitness coaches and physiotherapists as well.

I tend to rest my players whenever I get some time !! A little labour intensive I must say...but worth it !! Keeping a tab about their training feedback is good too !!

Yeah I tend to run the training for all my teams (senior/b team/youth team) to concentrate on certain attributes but I have 1-2 max days where the intensity is bright green or yellow and the rest are dark green.

i would avoid using 'cautious' as its crap going forward. Balanced is a lot more effective and you still get similar defence

Why are you not talking about Arsenal right now?? It is literally the best signings and use of our finances we have seen from the club in the last decade!

If you want your keeper to throw it to a wing back, change the in transition instructions to distribute to full backs, distribute quickly and throws

To tackle the injury problem bring in a top fitness coach that will ease injuries

A bit of a flaw in your corner tactic is ihenacho is on the post when he's such a threat in the air hence he's been offside for two corner goals. Change the corner tactic so he's on the penalty spot and you'll see more goals from set pieces

I suggest for your 4231 you have a Dlp or Cm on defend because the bbm and Bwm both roam from position which can leave your defense isolated on transitions.

great videos, but: if you want the keeper or other players to do certain things, you need to tweak the tactic before and during the game. read the pre-game and after game analysis. this will give you so much on who you are really playing, how you should adjust etc. that is just few tips. cheers!

For your away tactic you can just drop from positive to balanced. Also the red bar on the intensity part is not a no no as long as you have a big squad. I play gegen press and my intensity bar is red and it has won me a lot of trophy's. Also worth checking out FM scout as they done a video on assignments for your scouting team. It's a long term thing but you can pick up some great deals

I always think it's a good idea to have different roles on your AML and AMR, for example an IF and W - it unsettles and opposition and stretches the game. You also need more attacking duties.

U should check the opposition scout report once in a while mate. Preferably before the match training. It gives u the weaknesses of your opponents and how to exploit them.

If u set up a tactics, u must do it early in the Game tho, so that they could learn familiarity. Lmao it really is the same scenario with Crystal Palace games and Brighton 😂

Try not to switch the primary changed tactic too often as it won’t let the team create cohesion. A tactic thats been working for me is a flat 4-4-2. It would be good for the players at your level Two attacking full backs with inverted wingers. The inverted wingers are hard to come by as most players struggle to play that role but if you can pair them with a (mezella + ball winner) or (deep lying playmaker + Box to box) two ball playing defenders would be ideal but one is perfect both with defend duties then up from you should aim for (AF+CF) partnership or (DLF+ PF) obviously you can tinker with them to fit your team but the Mez/BWM combo works really well You would want to play this tactic as aggressive as possible, this will lead to more fatigue/injury with your players but it will also lead to a overall well balanced team you would have to make sure you press with much intensity but over the course of the season you could change the various aspects of the team to fit your needs Good luck with the series I’ll be sure to watch!

You can. Registra, boxtobox, mezzala. Try it out. But i personally like to use the roaming playmaker on the 6 more. But you need the right players :)

@@janmunster9603 The regista plays kinda like a DLP so that works. Roaming playmaker also works yes, its a playmaker after all. But his system ain't working, BWM, BBM and an AM. Thats a counter/direct systems roles.

Ok in the formation hes using it would be very good to play DLP on 8 + BTB or CM on Support. Or an AP on the 10. But especially in a 4-3-3 DM you can get a system working without a specific Playmaker

Those tactics are just a base for you to build your tactic off of. You need to change them up a bit for them to work properly.

When you’re drawing use demand more and when you’re losing use show some passion and praise when you’re winning

try Iheanacho on the left wing as RAUMDEUTER and Gayle as a striker .. and make Ritchie just a winger.

Matt, try mixing up your wingers and FB’s (Winger on one side, IF on another). It makes your attack too predictable if they are both the same, at least in my experience

Not sure if you do this but I personally give the players who just played a 2 days rest after every game and that seems to stop so many injuries

MGH u should play Muto more. He was a decent player in the Bundesliga, and im pretty sure he can play multiple forward positions

For the EFL cup games, I feel like unless it's the quarter-final and later you should completely rotate your squad maybe use some youngsters

just stick with 1 tactic honestly till January. U cant keep changing it

use mezala and try a lw on a advanced playmaker role. Game breaking combo if done right!

Having a goalkeeper on the bench is useless, there's like a 1/2500 chance that your goalkeeper gets sent off or injured. Also, Saivet is pronounced sigh-vay.

Change focus of attacks to assistants feedback, will let you know whether injured player needs to come off or not

I am using Everton ,they gave me 7 million transfer budget ,and I got 4 key players on injuries starting the league. Onyekuru work permit was rejected 🙅🏽‍♂️ .haha 2 wins 1 lose 1 draw . Lose to city draw to chelsea.
