WCLN - Corrosion - The Causes

This video defines the corrosion of metals and rusting . The location on the reduction table of metals most readily corroded is pointed out. The mechanism for rusting is shown when iron is exposed to oxygen and neutral or basic water. Rusting occurs to a greater extent when iron is exposed to acidic water and oxygen. The reason for this is explained. The other things that affect corrosion such as the presence of salts or oxidizing agents, proximity to less active metals, and an increase in temperature are also explained.
