I had did a presentation on Lester Holt and a few months before the presentation I got a tour at CBS 2 from Rob Johnson and Pam Zekman gave me some details on Lester during his CBS 2 days.

My father worked with Dick Marx for years. He was the trumpet player on here.

Bill Kurtis and Steve Baskerville briefly worked on the CBS Morning News in the 80s.

Yes. Before he went to NBC News, he worked as the lead anchor at WBBM.

The clip 1:45 to 2:14 was one of favs. The openings at 3:34 we’re breaking up. 4:28-5:00 Chicago’s WBBM-TV News Evening Edition was the best 7:13 and 8:00 Were 1994-1998 8:20-8:56 The opens we’re my favorites. 8:56 and 12:13 we’re 2004-07 14:22 and 15:40 we’re 2013-2016.

WBBM CBS 2 serves the entire Chicagoland region, including northwest Indiana and Kenosha in Wisconsin

You've got to love the shot at :59. Is that the Chicago police reporter (John Drummond?) lighting up?

FUN FACT: From 5:37 to 7:14, Both WBBM and WCLE have the same news opens, and Scott Chapin (WBBM) and Paul King (WCLE) say the anchor's, meteorologist's, and sportscaster's last names in their news opens. Other stations have used the same news opens as them, for example, WVNJ.

KCBS here in LA has used this same theme for years.....

WBBM, the CBS affiliate in Chicago IL, is owned and operated by CBS Televisions Stations, a subsidiary of CBS Corporation.

Don't the music for First Edition sound like the music from "To Live and Die in L.A.?"

Every CBS owned station it seems uses the current news theme before it seems

Steve Baskerville seems to be the only familiar face that has survive through many regime changes.

The station currently known as WBBM-TV has had three separate stints as a sister company of Paramount Pictures. The first was 1940-49. In 1940, the Chicago division of Paramount's theater chain, Balaban and Katz, created the station as an experimental station, W9XBK. In 1946, it received its commercial license as WBKB-TV. When Paramount divested its theaters in 1949 as a result of a landmark Supreme Court decision, WBKB-TV was included as part of the spun off company. United Paramount Theaters purchased ABC in 1953, it opted to keep channel 7, now WLS-TV, and what became WBBM-TV was sold to CBS. 47 years later, Viacom, a former CBS subsidiary that acquired Paramount in 1994, acquired its former parent, reuniting WBBM-TV with its original owner. This lasted until the end of 2005, when Viacom became CBS Corporation and spun off Paramount's movie studio and most of the cable television assets as a new Viacom. In 2019, Viacom and CBS Corporation re-merged, forming ViacomCBS and once again reuniting WBBM-TV with its original owner.
