When I met with my tax accountant to help set up my business, the first thing she said to me was "tell me when you're active [I was still waiting on my state license to be approved] because I need someone local to refer my customers to." She even offered to put my info on her website. Right out the gate and I already have a reference!

Local high school dept directories. Attorneys local bar association. Join local chambers of commerce get involved with the committee to get active. Tell everyone you are a notary. Give the best service in your area.

Hello! I have a question. I was recently looking for a notary in my town and had a really hard time finding one I had to end up going to my lawyer. And I want to be able to stay at home and run my own business so I thought this was a nice option for me and also to add the loan signing agent aspect of it. But if you’re just a public notary it says that you can only charge two dollars in the state of New York but this is not what other notaries were giving as a price so I’m just wondering what that means? Thanks!

Hello Stacey! Hello. Notaries in New York may charge up to the following amounts for Notary services: (EL 136): Taking an acknowledgement or proof: $2 per person, plus $2 for each witness sworn in; Administering an oath or affirmation including, as applicable, any jury: $2 per person (except where another fee is specifically prescribed by statute); Executing a protest: 75 cents per protest and 10 cents per notice of protest, not exceeding five notices (EL 135). New York Notary law does not address other types of fees such as charging a travel fee for distance and mileage to meet with the signer. If you plan to charge a travel fee, you should always make it clear to the signer that the travel fee is separate from the notarization fee, and it's always a good practice to agree upon the amount with the signer before the notarization takes place. @@dec1slh you have to become a notary, get your closing agent certification, 110k errors and omissions cert., background check. in other words call the NNA, nationalnotary.org and ask them. then sign up with snapdocs. may sound complicated but they will walk you thru and you take notes
