I can watch this over and over. He has my type of OCD shop. Same table saw and the same drawer handles. Fun to see other peoples shops and how much of the same brand tools we all use.

The company I have been working for almost 3 years now, needed much work on their shop. It's been a constant work in progress the past year since we are so busy... I have based the shop floor plan off of this gentleman's idea of a centered island of machines. Works wonderful.

Mine is only a 12'x16' so it's small, but usable. It is a shed, custom built for longevity, and has a ramp so I can locate the table saw outside when weather permits. That leaves a TON of space to move around in. I am thinking of getting the same saw Wayne has in the next few weeks, I currently have a DeWalt Jobsite folding saw but it is a GREAT saw!!! I just truly love the space in front of the blade that a full size saw has on the table. I removed my saw from the folding cart and mounted it on a shop built table on wheels to enable an outfeed table, plus dust collection underneath the opposite end with a shop vac and dust devil collector. I have the same drill press and love it, mainly because of the spindle travel, and since I do make pens I can drill through 4" without flipping the wood or acrylic over. Very nice setup, and it does make me envious!!! Cleanest shop I ever saw also, except maybe April Wilkerson's shop which NEVER looks used!!!

Thanks for this vid. I copied everything about it and have my island setup in the middle of the shop now. It allows for much more free space; no doubt about it. The bandsaw in that dead space location is very smart; the planer finishing on the outfeed table is awesome; the DC in the middle is a no brainer now. Thanks for sharing this and for helping me improve my setup.

Beautiful shop! STRONGLY recommend the Oneida Air Cyclone. I have the same dust collector. I took it apart & was able to mount the blower inlet directly to the top of the Oneida cyclone, and mount both of those at ceiling height. The dust falls down through a 5" aluminum dryer vent into a 50 gal drum on the rolling cart that the Shop Fox collector came with. The inlet side of the cyclone connects to a 5" spiral duct that travels across the ceiling, through the center of my shop. A few Y connectors in the 5" line provide 4" takeoffs with blast gates where I need them. The Oneida removes virtually everything from the dust collector & drops it into the drum, and the gags remain clean. I do have to beat the dust out of the felt bag periodically, but I am absolutely amazed at just how efficient the cyclone turned out to be. No more stumbling & fumbling with tubes & switches at floor level! Shop Fox should really offer that collector in a configuration that works with Oneida's cyclone. They're fantastic. It's really changed how my shop works.

Wayne, go get a furnace blower, mount it to a harbor freight furniture dolly, (item#61899) add a light switch to turn it on and off. I've got one, and I use it daily in my shop. I live in Florida and it not only circulates the air, it makes a 98' day feel nice. Give it a try, you just might like it.

Do you have any ideas for vertical storage? It seems essential to keep lumber off of concrete to keep moisture from seeping into the ends. Problem is my ceilings aren't really tall enough to pull that off.

I wish I had that much centre space. It seems like a good use of space to keep all of the dust making tools together with the dust extractor. But I'm sort of coming around to the idea of a centre assembly table as that's what I generally use my table saw bench for!
