It is still early days in what must surely be the toughest, hardest, most intense, most demanding football team sport on the Globe. However, things could come to a head within the next few weeks in what has virtually become a metaphorical chess game between The Parramatta Eels’ Brad Arthur and The Redcliffe Dolphins’ Wayne Bennett. What happens if the Parramatta Forwards disappear into The Ether between the 50 minute and 60 Minute mark in the coming games against the 2023 Grand Finalists, The Brisbane Broncos, and the always very formidable Melbourne Storm, possibly topped off by cellar dwellers South Sydney pulling the proverbial Rabbit out of the hat ? Will the treasury of The Parramatta Football Club, The Parramatta Leagues Club, be spooked by The Media and offer Bennett at least a 3 Year Contract, possibly even 4 Years, extremely well paid by a Rich Club with no caveats, no strings attached, Bennett totally free to set his own agenda, bring in his own people, select the players that only he wants ? Brad Arthur’s record with Parramatta is a remarkable one, now in his 11th season as Head Coach after being Assistant Coach in 2011 and 2012, and caretaker Head Coach for the last 6 Matches of the 2012 season. However, Brad Arthur claims that the problem with the Parramatta Forwards is NOT a lack of fitness, it is NOT succumbing to fatigue, it is NOT succumbing to a worn and torn body, it is NOT carrying injuries, it is NOT succumbing to age, nearly all The Forwards being over 30 years of age, then what is it ? Certainly NOT a lack of football experience, they all have that in abundance. If I have a criticism of Brad Arthur he allows the big names to play without them proving that they are sound to play at training, he is reluctant to bring players up from the New South Wales Cup and The Juniors, and he will not scout around for potential players in England and New Zealand. Meanwhile, as I see it, Wayne Bennett rather coyly I feel watches and waits……….Reminds me of someone else, Jack Gibson in 1981, 1982, and 1983. Anyway just a few thoughts that few, if any, will read but try to get such thoughts or those similar into the so-called Newspaper Forums on the Internet, totally censored ! 😅

If souths got Bennett, Gibson, Fulton and every other "super coach" that still won't save them. What they need is to get rid of the some of the players. They released JD's sms to the media the same night. Nothing to see there, just get a new coach. Maybe the greens can send souths a cultural advisor and get the rules changed to accommodate the few.

Wayne is a legend, but the South's players need to take ownership themselves.

I don't know why Wayne is so sought after, it's not the coach, it's down to the player's right????

The Bunnies need another Reynolds rather than another Bennett. This is not a coach problem, its a team moral problem. Some team members like Latrell deciding when they are going to put the effort in - which games they turn up 'to play' and which games they just turn up for the pay check. Latrell is a cancer that effects others and is poisoning the whole team.
