Edit: for those who can’t read - this is a reply to the comment directly above saying Stan was better than “the Fed”. Wawrinka haven’t beaten Federer on hard or grass court ever. He has two of the three GSs on the hard, victories over the three greatest players in history on this surface. Check before you talk without knowing. And keep your mouth shut. You will only have to win.

@@Eduardo-kg5wm what three greatest players are you talking about, I wonder? Stan has NEVER beaten Federer outside of clay. And even on clay, their head to head is like 5-3 Roger. Get your facts straight before you argue, mate. You’re embarrassing yourself. Stan has had a stellar career. He doesn’t belong in the same sentence as Fed, though. Not on clay and certainly not off of it. It’s like saying Porto is as good as Real Madrid because they won Champions League once.

Stan was telling Andy it's his last RG and it was a pleasure to have shared all these years in the tour with him, alongside something else I couldn't catch. Stan is the most underrated legendary player of our generation. Even though he won 3 GS in his career, the "Big 3" took the spotlight during his whole career, yet he manage to win big big tournaments against them. He has [in my opinion] by far, the most elegant and deadly shot I have ever seen in this spot. His backhand is otherworldly and it's an incredible feeling to watch him still doing it like this [he's almost 40...] over and over again. I will miss him and probably remember him forever. I'm sure I will have those times of nostalgia and search for videos of his best shots in the future. Lastly, even though I understand it's a ranking thing, I find it ridiculous that 1st round has such a match-up with 2 legendary players who won Grand Slams. It's total disrespect in my opinion, and I don't agree with "all players should be treated equally" because not all players are equal. These 2 are legendary players who won GS's. They deserve a "special treatment" at least on the 1st round draw. Maybe one day we will see Novak and Rafa lose a lot in ranking and match up on 1st round of RG? How ridiculous would that be? Anyways, I feel I somehow owe a thank you for Stan even though he doesn't even know me and just doing what he loves. Great guy and incredible tennis player. That backhand will be remembered for decades 🤲

The fact that these guys are now legends rather than the champions makes me feel old. I'm glad they put this match-up together though, it's the great rivalry that feels like it got lost amongst the others, and feels celebrated in Murray's final bow at RG. For so many years these guys were always keeping the "Big 3" on their toes. I hope they are remembered as the true legends they are.

It's nice to see these soon to be legends of the game battle it out during the twilights of their careers. Sure, the age and amount of injuries have gotten to them in slowing down their dynamism, but you can still the moments of greatness from Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka
