The 1980 Circus storm in Norfolk had the elephants walking in the snow to get to the Scope.

I don't remember the song, but I do remember the storm and that snowy winter. I lived 24 miles south of Charlottesville, VA and we had plenty of snow days that year beginning with that freak 10/10/1979 snowstorm. I awoke that Saturday morning, 3/1/1980 - with a hangover after partying with my classmates and the Wild Turkey on Friday the 29th - to see that snow coming on down. We had to dig out the '66 Chevelle later on either that day or the next day so we could get to town. Hard to believe that it's almost 40 years ago.

Yes i remember....just moved to Virginia that summer after getting married. Wow, back in the good ole days!

The Blizzard of 1980, was CRAZY! I was 9 years old, living in Norfolk, VA, and my father was in the Navy. He was out on a cruise that month, and I was home with my 11 year old sister, and my six year old brother, pretty much on our own! Talk about fun! I remember that they had written a song about that blizzard. "The Blizzard of 1980"... Does anyone else remember that song? That's probably the only real reason that I even remember that blizzard. I'm going to try and research it, and see if I can find a copy of the song somewhere. If I can, I will post a link of it here later. PS, watching old news clips is funny! To see what the Police cars looked like that long ago, is a trip!

TITANIUM CRANIUM, LLC i lived in Denbigh then and was 14...i remember measuring 18 inches in our front yard...that was a crazy winter for sure!

I was 9 living in Hewitt Farms military housing. Had snow drifts against some of the buildings so high we made snow forts.
