Watersnake Trolling Motor With PWM On My Kayak

Ойын-сауық

G'day folks. I felt the need for speed...and because I can sometimes be a lazy bugger...I invested in a Watersnake trolling motor for my kayak, along with a Pulse Width Modulator and 50Amp Lithium battery. However, being that my kayak doesn't have a provision for mounting a motor at the rear, which was my preferred placement for it, I had to get a bit creative in making it all work. But I do have a plethora of youtubers to thank for all manner of tips and methods. And then of course I get it out on the water to test it all.
Stay well folks,
Mark.

That Adam bloke must be pretty fit. Also the marine plug, that was male/female or they/them?

That Adam bloke kept pace with me for a bit when he went hell for leather with the paddle. I freely admit that I carelessly assumed the gender identity and or pro-nouns of that two part marine plug. It'll probably happen again...

Nice setup. Maybe I missed it but how long does the 50 ah battery last you?

No you didn't miss it. I didn't really do a dedicated test as far as how long the battery lasts. But, long winded answer would be, starting at 12.5v full charge, probably about half speed crossing the lake (in the video), used a few more times low speed getting to the camp site but mostly just paddling, same for going back to the head of the lake next day. Then I gunned at full speed across the lake back to the ramp, just to see how long that crossing would take, 12 minutes. Once I was done, battery was showing 11.8v. So...still had a lot of charge left. Hard to say, but I reckon you'd have power all day at least if you were constantly using it. Hope that's a fairly decent answer 🙂
