Joey didn't "take over"; he filled-in. Derek is the man, the writer, the mind, the lyrics, the bomb...period! Joey filled a purpose and should be thanked for it. Otherwise, it's Derek!

I feel Derek's version fits , the song better , there is a bit more emotion , and it matches the theme of Whitfield which is an insane asylum in Mississippi

you had to see them live and know the story to appreciate this guy. Fucking awesome band and Atomship was just a pretty boy cover band version.

Yeah, the guy you hear singing was the original vocalist who helped write the song. Joey filled-in for Derek.

Eh. It's pitchy, but that's about the only negative thing objectively. The emotion actually comes through a bit better in this version( not surprising being that "Whitfield" was actually Derek's experience).
