    I thought this was a cool idea but honestly thought there would be alot of wasted watermelon. There was actually less waste doing it this way. Great video. I love the internet! Grandmas rule!

    @@GrandmasHouseFun *waste --> not "waist".....Grandma cutting it into triangles is just as easy for kids to eat - they don't really care.😊🤷‍♂️😊

    I'm not even kidding when I say this... I was thinking today about the best way to cut the watermelon for my son's birthday party-you saved me! This will make it so much easier for the kids to eat while they're running around like loonies. Why are the most delicious things the hardest to cut! Watermelon and pineapple cutting drive me nuts! Thanks, Grandma!!!!! :)

    That makes me Smile! I'm so glad I could help! It really is the best way for little hands. It so much easier for them to hold! If you want to display the watermelon and let them pull out the pieces you can leave the end pieces of the rinds on and make it look prettier. Or you can put them in a big bowl and let them pic them out. Happy Birthday to your son!!!

    There isn't any waste to what you normally eat. The waste is what you don't typically eat anyway. Even with some waste however, it's easier for little ones to hold. :) I hope you enjoyed the video. :)

    Sharp knife is key, do you have any knife sharpener tip videos? I remember mom kept hers real sharp with this stone she had.

  • @GrandmasHouseFun

    @GrandmasHouseFun

    YES! A sharp knife is extremely important! I actually have laser cut knives so they don't need to be sharpened. I used to use a large round file to sharpen my knives before I got these. They cost more but well worth the price! Sorry I don't have any videos for you on that subject.

  • @GrandmasHouseFun

    @GrandmasHouseFun

    It is just to get the dirt off. You don't have to use the wipes. I just use them a lot and this was well before Covid.

    This was made way before Covid. I would still wipe down the rind just so it clean. If you don't want to wipe it at all you don't have to. This is just what I did. I use clorox wipes for everything!

    If you are trying to get all the edible watermelon possible there is probably a better way to cut it. That however was not my intention. I am simply showing you a way that small hands can hold and eat it. That was my only goal. I do hope you enjoy your watermelon however you cut it. :)

    My goal is to have an easy way for small hands to hold and to be able to eat it. I am not trying to get every ounce of edible watermelon. If that is your intention when you cut your watermelon, then yes there is probably a better way to cut it. That was not however my intention. Thanks for your comment.
