Watercolour Realism - a different approach. With Elizabeth Tyler.

This is a trailer for the downloadable or streaming video, the full 75 min version is available at vimeo.com/ondemand/watercolou...
See also www.elizabethtyler.com for books, paintings and lithographs.
In this video Elizabeth Tyler shows how she gladly breaks many of the rules of traditional watercolour painting whilst creating a large seascape. Apart from brushes she works with pens, pencils, ruler pens, colour shapers, sponges and masking fluid etc.She even uses sandpaper, saucepan scrubbers, razorblades and erasers for corrections. You can see how she still keeps control even when pouring strong colour directly over the paper .

I have watched this video three times, now, you were my first KZread watercolour video and I caught the bug. Ayear ago I saw it again and was in awe of your work even more so. This time two years in, I feel I can only begin to fully appreciated the outstanding art you create. Thank you for the spark and fanning the flame.

Awsome. Patience is my worst problem. I am taking art classes with a fabulous teacher and she has really pulled out my insides. We only touched on water colour, but I felt I did better stuff before I did water on my own, You have confirmed my inner deeper feeling and given me great ideas. Thank you abundantly.

Your spontaneous yet calculated style leads to a very exciting and fresh result! I often see painters aim for realism, but it ends up looking rather flat an sterile. I also love your use of masking fluid.
