giggle... hearing family in the back. Oh how I remember those days... You keep your calm so well!! Love your tutorials!!
I have had some watercolor pencils for years now, but never used them because I wasn't sure how to use them. Your tutorial helped me to understand how the pencils worked and I appreciate the tips. The gnomes are so cute and it was a pleasure to watch this video. Thanks.
I really love using my WC pencils, just as much as my pallets! I see several have mentioned that there is no need to erase, the lines dissolve and disappear! Your gnomes turned out beautifully!!! Thanks for sharing!
You could've had the third gnome holding a Christmas ornament. I'm going to try this with my grandsons. Very cute!
Emma, I have found that you don't have to worry so much about erasing your Grey line drawing. It pretty much dissapears as you paint your subject. Thank you for sharring your talent. I've followed you for two years and look forward to trying everything you share. I'm an 81 year grandmother and will paint your gnomes for my great granddaughters.
Thank you. I've had watercol pencils for many yrs, but ignored them cos they were too difficult. I will now give them another go. Thanks
Yes! More watercolor pencil tutorials!
A true artiist. We really enjoyed this video.
That’s your sons Xmas card sorted ..... he’ll love it 👏🏻 xx
I'm glad you found that you can like the watercolored pencils. I often sketch out in a gray so I don't have to erase. The color renders out and is not noticable when you use a brighter or darker color. Yes even disapears when using yellow. The gnomes are so adorable! I love it!
"Paint? Draw? I don't know what to call it" Draint? Or, I know! PAW!!! Thank you for giving me some push to go pull out my watercolor pencils!
Thank you Emma, for this tutorial. I learned a lot about drawing and painting gnomes.
Thank you for using watercolor pencils! Please do more tutorials with these. Thanks!!!!!
These guys are so cute. Love that you used watercolor pencils to change it up.
Very cute darling gnomes. I love watching how you just know what to do. .
Thank you Emma. You sounded quit surprised that they came out so wonderful. Well of course they did...you made them for us! God bless you and your family this holiday season and well into the New Year!
OMG you guys!!! I thought you smudged the drawing when you erased, but then you moved the picture and the smudges stayed put. I REALLLLLY need to clean my laptop screen LOL!

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have a set of WC pencils and did not know the proper technique, but the working light to dark makes sense and you've proven it very well with this project (I know with WC paints we layer light to dark/most prominent, but for some reason I was not putting that together when it came to the pencils). Thank you for all of your tutorials and I love your floral work too, but this was a fun change-up and I definitely learned a lot from it :)
You’re so sweet and such a good teacher. Thank you. Oh, and I love how your videos come out at night. It’s relaxing to watch you.
Thank youl Perfectly timed for me as i was recently gifted a watercolor pencil set of 36. Lucky me for both! Thanks again
These gnomes are the cutest things ever! I am going to try and do them. Hopefully they will be frame and display worthy!
These gnomes are so very cute!!! TYFS
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! And, yes, I learned a lot! THANKS!
Those are literally the cutest
Love watching you Emma…you make it look so easy! I totally destress when I watch you!
Emma! I love watching you create such lovely work! Thank you for sharing your techniques. Merry and Happy to you and yours!
I love love love those gnomes!!! I just relaxed and enjoyed your teaching!! THANK YOU!!!
Your gnomes make me smile. Simply adorable!
They are the cutest little gnomes. I had a set of watercolour pencils given to me a while ago and they have been sitting there until you did the tutorials using the watercolour pencils. Thank you Emma now I know what to do.🥰
Just a heads up…I have some Loew-Cornell pencils and a set of Prismacolor pencils. I was watching your video the other day and drew out a sketch thinking I could erase my reference lines. I was using the Prismacolor pencils. They do NOT erase! So I tested my Loew-Cornell pencil. It erased fine. I have the same eraser you have as well. So some watercolor pencils do not erase. Test first.
Oh I just love these cute little gnomes. TFS
Very cute. I love the extra design elements.
These gnomes are so flippin adorable!!
You have found a use for watercolour pencils ✏️! I agree re florals - the lines are too harsh; this type of image responds really well though - thanks so much 👏😁
Super outstanding Teacher Emma, you are so talented. Thanks for the great teaching. Love your drawings and paintings.
Really super cute. So fun! Thanks!
These are the most adorable ever!! I hope to have time to try this before my shoulder surgery!
I absolutely love how these turned out! I also love how excited you were over how cute they turned out.
I loved!!!! You are so gifted!!!!
Not usually a gnome fan. But these are so cute, I’ll use your tutorial to make gift tags. Thanks.

Yes! You could extend his arm outward with mittened hand holding a square or rectangular sign with To: and From: on it! Use the darker gray as outline with little to no shading.
Love your little gnomes. Great idea to use water color pencils.

Adorable and I love the kiddos in the background because it sounds like echos of my home while I'm trying to paint 😅 twin toddler boys here 💙💙
Cute! This is really fun!
It is so hard to see, like you said. I bet if your background wasn’t white as well, it’d make it a lot easier for us to see Bc the lights are so bright too. Just too much light going on. I do absolutely love these gnomes though!! 🥰💕🥰

Love these!
Very cute!
I painted one of the gnomes in this 2021 when it came out. Loved it. This seems like it would be a good one to post on your Friday reposts this holiday season. I know it’s about watercolor pencils but obviously one doesn’t have to use pencils. Just a thought. I did just see the Advent gnome tutorial, simpler version. But these came out so cute
Your gnomes made me smile, they are soooooooo cute! I love the Albrecht Dürer-watercolor pencils. I have a bunch of them.
Who doesn't love a gnome, so cute!
Love the gnomes. Came out great, as usual. I have colored pencils, haven't used them yet. Will definitely give this a try. 1 tiny request could u do a girl gnome. I have a grandson & a granddaughter. Would love to send them a card with gnomes dressed in their favorite colors.🙏💖

Girl gnome: long grey hair tyed on the sides instead of a beard. Everything else can be the same. 👍
Love, love LOVE!
Sooooo cute!!!!! Great job as always!!!! 😄
Wonder if you might sketch out the objects to paint on a plain piece off paper before you do the video next time so we can see the outline you lightly draw on the wc paper. I personally take the basic idea and spin it my own way. Love this video. TFS. Watercolor holiday love to all ❤
