At last - someone here who can really paint - and teach so well at the same time! Thank you so much - I shall rewatch this during my upcoming effort of a seated, rear view female figure - thanks for giving me the confidence to try!
As an art school grad… granted, a photo major not painting… this is like a figure drawing/ painting master class condensed into 15 minutes! Very nice, thank you!
Marvelous demonstration of working without starting with an overall wash but rather considering the white paper to be the first wash and beginning right away with creating tones on the figure itself. I especially appreciate that you allow your mistakes to be included in the video and how you compensate for them (erasing pencil marks and redrawing them or removing a color or wash you're not happy with). For me, these are the most educational parts of your presentation. This video made me re-appreciate how beautiful watercolor can be in its simplicity. Thank you for another marvelous lesson. You are helping me become a much better painter.
This video is filled with wisdom .... not the least of which is found in your humility. By sharing how even a talented and successful artist struggles, erases, re-erases until s/he is satisfied you show that not all artists are born, but create themselves by hard work and dedication. Another pearl of wisdom: do not obsess over creating named paint colors, rather, perfect the lens with which you see colors. Thank you so much for sharing these insights!
I really enjoyed watching you paint with watercolor. I think you are great at it. I am experimenting with it and I have been looking for videos to learn. This is the first one I actually finished and enjoyed. Thank you!
You are my favorite watercolor artist🤗
Lovely demo. You make it all look so easy with your bold approach. Thanks a lot, it is inspiring.
I'm going to have to start looking at paintings differently now and try to train my eyes to find warms and cools and see if that will help me achieve the results I want. Thank you for this important bit of information that seems so obvious but I didn't even think about it until you said it. TY
I normally don’t like the ‘speed painting’ tutorials but enjoyed this one Eric, and you explained it well. I love the way you let the blue shadow on the head and shoulders, interact with the water etc and do it’s own thing spontaneously, giving the whole thing a very fluid feel. Thanks. I shall definitely look at your other tutorials.

I like the cheeky title of the video. Great figurative work. Nice that you have trained your eye to know the color blends. Definitely helps to really grasp painting. Thanks for sharing!
