I especially like this painting because I have my own hens. The lower red on their head is called the wattle, and the upper red is the comb. Their feet typically have four toes with three in the front and one in the back with talons (toe nails). Roosters often have spurs at the back of the lower leg.

He’s a real beauty! I love all the gorgeous colours and splatters. The red crest on his head is his ‘crown’ and under his face is his ‘wattle’. My father used to have chickens many years ago. Here in England, we call roosters ‘cockerels’. 😊

We have chickens and roosters wandering in our little "village". The colors are beautiful on some of the roosters. I will definitely paint this rooster!
