PY150 and PY129 are the Phthalo of Yellow. I love how they change from dark and moody in masstone to bright colors when diluted.

I have the QoR and, being new to watercolor, I don't have any others yet. I was glad to see the comparisons! I really like how the QoR can go from brown to orange-y to clean luminous yellow. The Schmincke is quite lovely, too, though the QoR seems to have a wider value and color range. Seeing this, I don't feel I need a second one besides the QoR at this point. (Yay, now I can, instead, go buy the perylene violet that looked so interesting with the Nickel Azo Yellow last week! :-) )

Oh good I'm glad this was helpful! Yes QOR has the widest range of values I think. I hope you love the perylene violet, it's a beautiful rich color.

I have the Qor & Schminke, and I love them both for the reasons you mentioned. I’m intrested by the Windsor & newton one for how lemony it looks at its thinnest 😍

Great overview, many artists use PY150 as their only yellow for it's versatility. Thanks for the brand comparison. :) My favourite is the Schmincke one and is part of my standard palette.

When I tell you I love the Daniel Smith Azo Yellow, I mean my mood went high when I saw it swatched 😄 it's definitely one of my top five yellows. I don't think I have the Qor but this certainly piqued my interest. Looks so luminous and clean. Thank you for another wonderful comparison !

Very helpful. I love my Qor Nickel Azo, but the price is a touch eyewatering. I think I'll try the Schminke Trans Yellow after I use up my current tube.

Were you taking the DaVinci straight out of the tube onto the brush? I don't have their PY 150 yet, but they paint so nicely when dried in the pan. Perhaps if you'd smooshed it on a palette with a tiny bit of water it would have felt nicer.

I have Schmincke, Daniel Smith, and Roman Szmal. I use the Roman Szmal the most I love the creaminess of the honey based paints it does get lighter and bright when washed out more. I always like the looks of the Qor I just don’t like how the brand behaves.

It sounds like you have a good collection! I find that QOR dries a bit flat, which is my biggest issue. This one didn't have that problem so I will likely use it more since all py150's disperse anyway.

Nickel Azo yellow is my favorite and most used yellow. I 100% agree it can be the only yellow on a palette.

I have this one from White Nights,10ml for 3,10£ I like it quite a lot,my second favourite yellow.Not really tempted to spend more on this pigment as quite satisfied with what I have...with M.Grahams quinacradone rust,get whole range,of transparent golds,rusts,browns

Add Rembrandt to the choices and comparisons please. A lot of people use the “student” Van Gogh sets in lieu of WNC and it would be nice for KZreadrs to include the professional Rembrandt. With that said, my favorite yellow is Primary Yellow. I like my Yellow, yellow & bright. 😊 Between Schmincke, DS, Sennelier, M Graham, and QoR Nickel Azo Yellow I prefer Sennelier and QoR for their brightness.
