How many moving parts are in a finely crafted Swiss watch? How long do they last? The better question to ask is, "how long is the warranty?" Kinetico systems have a ten year warranty on the complete system, including the valve, and all the parts. If you are considering an electric softener be sure to ask, "how long is the warranty on the electric valve, and all its parts?" You may be surprised at the answer!

Just want to say that KineticoHQ video's are very informative and well made. I like how technical the videos are-- they have definetly made me want to purchase a whole house twin tank unit for my home. After watching the videos, it makes perfect sense why the engineers designed the units the way they did. Cant wait to get one. Its all about gathering the money now. Thanks KineticoHQ!

The ten year manufacturer's warranty covers all parts. Any labor warranties are provided by independent Kinetico dealers, and so they will vary. My experience was just like Dean mentioned in the video. When building our house, I installed a single tank electric system, and even with a dehumidifier, you could see the corrosion building up on the electronics. After about three years the softener died. I put in a Kinetico and it has been running trouble-free for almost thirteen years.

The question of warranties will take a bit more effort, but I must say that inferring that a circuit board is a moving part is quite a stretch, wouldn't you say? I stated originally that the Kinetico valve uses over 100 "moving" parts to be able to operate without electrical power, which is true. Rule of thumb states that more mechanical moving parts means more possibility for problems. This doesn't mean that Kinetico makes a bad unit, but it is a point worth looking into, at least IMHO!!

Have you ever looked inside an electric softener valve? Start counting all the parts in the circuit boards, motors, servos, and etc. Looks like well over a hundred to me. But if you only count the motor or the circuit board as one.... Also please specify which manufacturer offers a longer or better warranty than Kinetico, and which model the warranty is on. I'd like to look it up.

I'm told Rainsoft offers a limited lifetime warranty on all. My rainsoft is 25 years old and just died. Take it for what it's worth as I am considering a Kinetico as a replacement.

Thank you for your reply. My question on the ten year warranty you mention is this: does it cover ALL parts AND labor to install said parts for the full ten year period with no pro-rata or owner cost participation of any kind? I ask this because the labor is where the REAL cost lies. And my experience with softener warranties is that every company claims they have the best one available, and yet they all exclude labor. Parts aren't too pricey, labor is!! Please fill me in, thanks.

Thanks again for your reply. Your response on the warranty is what I knew it would be. The Kinetico warranty is no better than the warranty on most whole home systems, and not as good as some. There will always be people that have had great service from their unit, but that doesn't mean that the unit is superior. I have had my electronic unit for several years with no problem whatsoever. So what? My point is simply that the Kinetico unit has more to GO wrong than electronic systems.

You mention an electronic system you had failed in 3 years but you don't mention what brand you had. Poor quality electronic systems certainly do exist, but that doesn't mean that ALL of these type units are of poor quality. I would much rather own a high quality electronic system with very few moving parts than a mechanical system that requires over 100 moving pieces to make it work. But I am glad you have had good experience with your unit, afterall, that is the point.

You can't drink this water though can you as the sodium build up will fur up your arteries yes? So as I understand it's fine to brush your teeth with & maybe drink a little whilst brushing your teeth in your bathroom? But you will need a dedicated hard water cold drinking tap in your kitchen yes?

The biggest drawback I've experienced is forgetting to check the salt level. The machine runs so perfectly I forget it's there.

If you are considering a Kinetico system, you should ask the representative how many moving parts are contained within the main valve body assembly that allow it to work without electricity. The answer is well over 100. Common sense dictates that if there are this many moving parts, there WILL be failures. A good quality electrically actuated system will provide you years of trouble free service. Yes, anything electrical can fail, but don't think that just because it isn't, you will fare better!
