The effect looks really good. And you look absolutely amazing. Great job Irene. I use mirrors sometimes to do an effect kinda like that. Take a old shattered mirror and glue it onto a piece of wood so it reflects but also has bare spots in between the pieces. Also don't glue it all level. So the beams the glass reflects dance around.

Irene, what a fantastic tutorial. I have used mylar in the past, but this technique is creative, does create a water reflection and unique. Thank you for the video and your past videos.

Thanks for always sharing your BTS and process. Another great alternative to the full mylar roll would be those emergency survival blankets. Those are also made of mylar.

As one who mostly shoots self portraits for fun, I understand and appreciate all the thought and effort that goes into these. These came out beautiful…well done! Thank for sharing…may give this a try😊

What works so well in this photoshoot, as both the model and the photographer, you had the best of all worlds in your favor. You know how you wanted to present yourself, so the make-up, and dress was your own best looks, and you had the remote software to take the photos with. We used mylar in music videos and photographs way back in the old days to create some wild effects in the mid 70's. Outstanding work, and the self-portrait end results look amazing.

How cool is that? I just purchased a 10 pack of Mylar emergency blankets & a silver plastic table cloth from the dollar store just before Christmas with this sort of thing in mind. And here's your 'tutorial' on how I can do it! Perfect timing!

I shoot all self portraits- I recommend the nanlite - it’s continuos so it makes it easier for self shooting - has a projector too so you can use gobos:) which is so fun

Very nice photography, and very nice effect too. Mylar is a type of polyester invented by Dupont in the USA and ICI in the UK at the same time. Shiny Mylar is Mylar film with a layer of vapor deposited metal, usually aluminium. Its use is mostly in food packaging, but I did have a special Mylar filter for solar photography, without which the very expensive sensnor in the astro imaging camera would burn in a flash.

Mylar was developed originally for satellites and spacecraft, where reflectivity is critical to heat control when such objects are in direct sunlight. Great stuff.
