Thank you for sharing! I forgot to put the o-ring on the lower water pump housing and this video helped me figure out why gear lube was leaking out of the water intake.

The torque on these is only 15-40 inch pounds. That is only 1.3 ft pounds. I overtightened mine in error and melted the housing. Needless to say I also overheated my boat. Maybe this will help someone else avoid my issue.

We replaced the water pump and now the boat will not go in reverse . Does it have anything to do with with something we did wrong while doing this?

yes you did not line up the shift spline correctly

After you finish installing the new water pump and tighten down everything, can you turn the shaft or does it have to be installed in the upper unit before it will turn?

I have a 1979 Bayliner Santiago cuddy wer can i find a serial numbr for replacing my impeller i took it out already but dnt see any part number on the impeller

Actually this isnt a pre alpha this should be an alpha 1 gen 1

The only way I know how to tell if the lower half is a pre alpha is by the the 1/4" pin on the end of the drive shaft. You can see this pin @3:29 in the video.
