    Hi, I discovered you today, and coincidentally, I brought home my white 1994 F 650, after 3 years of storage. I have not done maintenance and the battery is half full of acid. I would change it. The booklet says: YUASA YB12AL-A, but I found a YUOASA YB10L-BP mounted and now I don't know what to do. I signed up and it's wonderful to have found an expert on this bike and I hope to find very useful advice. Thank you very much. Anthony ITALY 😀

    Hi, many thanks, for joining me here. The F650 is a superb bike. I love them. As far as a battery goes, I would fit the Yuasa YB12AL-A, as this is matched to the bikes electrical drain, and the charging system. The voltage regulator has a hard enough job as it is. Fit a new battery, get it running, (you may have to give the carbs a going over) and get out on it and enjoy some great motorcycling.

    I did this repair about a month ago with my 1994 F650. Also rebuilt the carbs and added an aftermarket inline fuel filter, but now I've got a hard starting problem :-( . Informative vid, thanks! Liked and subscribed.

    Hi, Yes, I think this would make an excellent first bike. Hopefully there should be a riding video in a couple of weeks time to review how the bike rides etc. Hopefully that will be of use to you. Take care.

    Cool videos man I subscribed! I bought a funduro this month (my first bike) and these videos are very useful and enjoyable! I replaced the chain and sprockets and plan on cleaning the carb, since I got some idling problems. Bike sometimes starts going up in rpm when idling, also it doesn't really want to get of the choke. Probably a dirty idle jet Any tips or thing to looks out for?

    Hi Mr J, Many thanks for subscribing. I am glad my videos are helping you. That is the only reason I like to do them, to help fellow motorcyclists. I am about to do a video on carb rebuild for the F650. Literally in the next week or so. I have been very ill and in hospital, because of Covid-19. So it has stopped me doing videos, but I am feeling much better now and I can't wait to get back to doing the vids. If your bike doesn't like coming off the choke it means it is running weak. That can be a number of things, hopefully my video will help you. Take care, and ride safe.

    Dear Restoration Biker! Do you reckon it's possible to fit a fan on the reg/rec unit, or is it a reliable amd safe option to mount it on the side of the air filter housing for better cooling? I'm thinking about modding mine to make it more reliable in the long run. Thank you for your answer in advance!

  • @RestorationBiker

    @RestorationBiker

    Hi, it is possible to fit a fan to the reg, but it is the ducting over the reg to get the best effect of having the fan there that is the problem. I am sure that if you move it to the side it is then more in the natural 'draft' and as a result more likely to be cooled. If you can arrange to make some good ducting, let me know as I would be very interested in being able to see it.

    Is it necessary to drain the engine oil when changing the water pump ?

  • @RestorationBiker

    @RestorationBiker

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi, yes I drained the oil and the cooling system Before I did the job. If there is any contamination, then it is imperative that you replace the oil or coolant at the end of the job.

    Hello, I had fuel running out from my air box and motorbike shutting off, any idea what may be ?m

  • @RestorationBiker

    @RestorationBiker

    Hi Andi, If there is fuel coming from your air box it sounds as if you have a carb that is flooding. The only cure is to remove the float bowls and check or replace the needle valves. (see my latest video on carb overhaul) The needle valves are not dear so once you have access to the carbs it isn't too bad a job. Keep the fuel tap turned off as if it is flooding it will drain the tank onto the floor!!
