Water Polo Rules: Where to Take the Free Throw and How That Affects the 6 Meter Rule

Спорт

In this video we discuss the new FINA rules passed in 2020 regarding the location of the free throw, and how that affects the new 6 Meter Rule and the on ball defender. We also talk about the new penalty shot call for inside water situations. Any player who wants to learn how to play water polo needs to know these rules. ‪@ShaquaticsNet‬

Hi, just to say thanks. Videos are clear and great for my junior players. (Australia). Please keep going. Some wish list of videos would be - 1. How to turn a player 2. CF plays.... pass and drive. (Something difficult to teach is understanding the timing of the drive) 3. Releasing

You're welcome, I'm glad your junior players can use them, I love that. It's funny you should mention 'how to turn a player' because I just wrote that down the other day as one that we have to do. We have so many we want to get done, but that is definitely on the list. As for Releases, we have a Moving the Ball Series and Part 2 is the Chop Stroke Release and Part 3 is the V Release. Check those out and see if those work. I'll link the Chop Stroke here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qISp0LOSk8jYYZM.html Thanks!

After fouls, Do we allow to do a pump fake before making a signal by spring the ball up?

Yes, if you’re outside 6 meters you can pump fake after a foul then put the ball into play by throwing it up or down and then you can shoot.

I wonder if the rules committee considered simplifying all of this (6 meter rule, becoming 'live', corner shots, etc) for junior divisions. This seems overwhelming for my 11 year old to understand. Even as an adult, I am having trouble following all of this. To bring more kids into the sport, I think it would be wise to simplify.

It's all very confusing, I think the kids will eventually get used to it, but in the interim it's a pain.

The corner throw rules are similar to the 6 Meter Rules, we may do one on that, but in the meantime you can watch the 6 Meter Rule video and apply it to corner throws. Thanks!

@@ShaquaticsNet thx for the answer. I only have one question, if i put a ball in the game after 2 meters throw, can i immediately shot or i have to pass?? (As you explained i can do both take a shot immediately or put the ball in the game then take a shot, did i understand right !?)

In order to be able to shoot immediately or put the ball in play and shoot you must be fouled outside of 6 meters, or have a corner throw. A regular foul at 2meters would not allow you to do that, you could only pass or put the ball in play and pass. Does that help?

@@ShaquaticsNet my question was about corner (not about regular foul inside 2 meters line) and yes, helps alot.

Okay I misunderstood. Corner throws are the same as an outside 6 meters foul. You can shoot or get yourself live and shoot. We will be adding a corner throw video shortly we just decided.
