Water, perlite, or sphag? ✂️ | The best propagation medium

Hello friends,
Today I'm doing a little experiment to see which propagation method grew the best pothos roots. The mediums discussed are water, sphagnum moss, leca, perlite, and soil. Which is your favorite? 🌝

Thank you for doing the comparisons among rooting media. If you covered the rooting containers - the section where the root is growing - in a dark material - a sock or aluminum foil, this would block the light and would prevent the algae from growing in the perlite.

I don’t mind the algae that much but good to know!

great video,m. very interesting, wonder what the success rate would have been if sand was also a contender?

Gets one root on moss: no! Gets one root on leca: goes nuts 🤔🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Would u always propose doing a wetstick in a container for better humidity or does it really not matter that much?

Hi! I think it definitely makes a difference. Wetsticks that aren't in an enclosed container either take much longer to root/grow or they don't grow at all. Hope that helps! ☺

@SirPlantsaLot thank you! Ive been clearing out a shelf to add grow lights to in my room as its in an area with zero light and was hoping to use some spare containers that ive been recycling with lids on. Just wanted to make sure that the lids would make a difference as im new to this prop box process

if you buy quality sterlizied sphag moss, there won‘t grow any funugs or smth, it‘s safer than soil

Dear Bob, a wet stick is a piece of node that has no leaf on it, hope that helps 😘
