great very clear video. I would be interested in seeing a video on raising a cold water tank to increase header pressure, and most importantly how to calculate whether the joists need strengthening with spreaders.

We've only fairly recently been able to use unvented water systems, hence the system you see, a gravity system.

Are there considerations (beyond being visible) on where a cistern overflow has to exit, or how it has to run? Mine are currently extremely in the way, and as we're about to do work on bathroom and en suite I'd like to reposition them to make work access easier. My roof is very shallow pitch (no room to stand upright), and vertical space is very constrained. C/w cistern and c/h header tank are in the middle, totally blocking easy access to one half of the roof space - to get past you have to ease your way past, outside the roof trusses. Both overflows, rather than heading straight to the eaves, run 3 to 4 times that distance along the roof trusses first, making it VERY hard to get beyond the trusses in the first place. All I can think of is that the overflows fall more slowly as they are than they would if they'd run directly; as they'd normally not have water in them, that doesn't seem a likely reason? They're unlagged plastic.

Do you have a video on how to drain a system like this? We tried to change a valve to a more modern one the other day, after taking the radiator off the wall quite easily, I though I could just remove the valve too. Stupid me! Black water EVEYWHERE all over carpet and walls. I managed to force the old valve back on. So maybe a video on draining the system and changing a valve??? Thanks

This tank has nothing to do with radiators or centralo heating Jadey. This is a cold water tank for the cold water to your taps/bath etc. The centreal heating is on an entirely different system. I have an insolation valve before the ballcock in the cold water tank I'm considering spurring a cold water supply from this as the copper pipe would be minimal to replace if I later wanted to revert back to original. Is there anything I should be made aware of before doing this and the best way to do it.

It's Ok to do this Shaun, it's no different from coming off the cold feed anywhere else in the house. Generally people dont do this because it usually means coming down through the ceilingbwhich can be unsightly.
