My first encounter the brothers Gibb was in the early 60s when I who was considered a decent singer who nobody ever heard of was beaten in a talent quest in Australia by 2 11 and a 14 yr old trio named the BEE GEES their harmony was amazing , the song they won with was MY OLD MAN'S A DUSTMAN and they just blew the audience away they went on to sing on all the musical variety tv shows and eventually after releasing one of their first original songs SPICKS AND SPECKS that was a huge hit in Australia decided to move to England for a bigger audience than Australia had to offer with only19 million people and the rest is history . They have had hits in every decade since . Your younger subscribers may not have heard of them , but their music once heard is never forgotten . They were truly gifted songwriters and some of their lyrics are pure poetry , they have written songs for mega stars such as Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand, Dian Warwick ,Dolly Parton ETC and of course Celine Dion who sings my favourite BEE GEES song IMORTALITY . Don't forget when you do your extended history of the BEE GEE'S to mention their younger brother Andy who was a huge star on his own but was taken from us too soon and just when they were looking to integrate him into the group . A great reaction keep them coming

Hardcore BG's fan here since 72. I tell a lot of people that they are the greatest group in music history and more often than not, they reply that is just my opinion. Which is true in a way. It is if you don't know much about them or heard many of their songs. But if you are a real fan, you know the story behind them, look at the stats they have and the number of chart topping hits, then it becomes fact. This world will never see another group like this, period, end of story.

Many of their songs bring tears to my eyes, (i.e. remembering listening to them in my youth, their talent, the fact that Barry is the last man standing)....I always kept their music in my life and my 7-year old granddaughter was raised listening and loving them, as were my daughters. When I hear Run To Me and when the 3-part harmony starts, to me which is one of their best harmonies, I can't help but tear up. Keep up the good work.

To what I understand, when the Bee Gees left Australia and returned to England to meet and team up with Robert Stigwood (RSO Label). Barry and Robin Gibb wrote the song when they were sitting on a darkened staircase at Polydor Records following a power cut. The echo of the passing lift inspired them to imagine that they were trapped in a mine.[The song recounts the story of a miner trapped in a cave-in. He is sharing a photo of his wife with a colleague ("Mr. Jones") while they hopelessly wait to be rescued.

I just wish Rob, Mo and Andy were all still here. I have been listening and buying their music since the 1970s. But the best was that I saw them in concert 4x through out the years. They were awesome and always put on a fabulous performance. I always loved them!!!

Thanks for your reaction! The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzread.info/dash/bejne/aaKdurWhZ9m9gqw.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXyTzJtplqavm5c.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJp8t7VufcmWYLQ.html. In addition to being fantastic singers and songwriters, all three had a wicked good sense of humor. You mentioned Robin's serious side but he was also just as funny if not more so as Maurice. As big as they were they never took themselves too seriously although in my opinion they would have had that right because they were just that good. They were the best of the best of the best and I feel so lucky to have been here at a time when they were starting out and any given week could see them on the Johnny Carson show, The Midnight Special etc etc. To top it all off the three of them were really nice guys too and were good to their fans. I'm happy to see someone younger appreciate and acknowledge the raw talent that was the Bee Gees......thank you for that.

Just for context, The first song played here was “1941 Mining Disaster”, their fist stateside hit in 1967. “Run to Me” was 1972. “World” was 1967. “I Can’t See Nobody”also from their first album.”How Can you mend a broken heart” was 1971. The quality of their voices blending was certainly wondrous.

Andy Gibb and I were born just 7 days apart. I grew up listening to The Bee Gees and loved everything they did throughout their careers. The sadness as each passed away is deep and I will be heartbroken when Barry rejoins his brothers. Some artists are great singers and some are great songwriters but these guys were so blessed with their abilities for both. It’s nice to see a reactor appreciate more than a single song at a time and educate themselves on the history of The Bee Gees.

What a great reaction! Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and insights, particularly from a young person. I am 68, and have been listening to the Bee Gees since I was 14 in 1968, and I still listen to them every single day. I am so glad I grew up with the Bee Gees. They are the soundtrack of my life. I saw them in concert twice in northeast Ohio. Absolutely fantastic shows.

I never appreciated them until the pandemic when I spent hours on U-tube listening and watching everything I could about them. I am Barry’s age but just somehow missed most of their music as the years went by. If I knew then what I do now, I would have been a groupie and gone to as many concerts as I could. They are incredibly talented and they so loved what they were doing.

I was born in 72 and even though I was 5 to 7 at the height of the Bee Gees success I remember seeing them on tv and hearing a lot of their music even some of their older 60s music became quite popular again to a degree because of their success of their disco era music , so most of the disco music from Donna Summer to Giorgio Morodder, Abba and the Bee Gees among ton of others I remember very well from that time and impacted me musically as a musician myself later on ! Even if you were a little kid back in the 70s you knew all this stuff unless you were living under a rock ! Music was taken much differently than it is now back then , music was a serious thing that was in our lives all the time and it was appreciated much more than it is now !

I love them so much. You showed up in my feed today. I'm so glad! Maurice is an entertainer, but more than that he really brought the 3 together, the glue musically, through instruments, harmonies (he had a wonderful voice as well), and familial. Robin is amazing. Barry is amazing. Together the 3 made music so sublime, that decade after decade it still remains relevant, beautiful, creative and is able to bring one to tears.💔💔❤❤

Hi from Australia, sorry I don’t know your name but I just want to thank you for your reactions to the Bee Gees. I have been a huge fan since my early teens in the 60’s and never got to any of their concerts (unfortunately) but have loved being able to watch many KZread videos of them. I especially love Robin’s voice and Maurice’s fun antics. I loved their early songs but also love their songs from the 80’s & 90’s like ‘For who. The bell tolls, Winds of change, ‘Spirits having flown’ and all of them really. I have heard them say in interviews that being brothers is what makes their harmonies work so well. Also their passion for music and all having the same goal contributed to their success over many decades. The videos of them telling their own stories of how they started singing when Barry was 9 and the twins were 6 is just so interesting. And I love their humour and the way they bounce off each other in interviews. Thank you again for sharing about the Bee Gees here on your channel. I enjoyed it very much.

Just one thing I'd like to add to this lovely video..... Please keep in mind the Gibb brothers were composing and recording their follow up album " Night Fever" in France when Robert Stigwood (their manager) came by for songs for a film. They already had recorded 8 (!) songs. From those songs just a few were selected for what would become Saturday Night Fever, founded on a book. And yes, their music was a blend of Soul, Rhythm and Blues , Funk in those days. Brilliantly merged by Arif Mardin on Mr. Natural and Main Course. Such outstanding talent by the Gibbs is so very rare.....
