A Banshee is an Irish spirit that harkens the death of a beloved. The old lady of Inisherin is the symbolic banshee. Her presence as a looking figure gives the protagonist and the viewers the heehee jeebees every time she appears. But she also predicts deaths and shows someone’s death. While she doesn’t wail or screech like a real banshee, she does play the symbolic title role

This movie is about different kinds of loneliness and the different ways that different people deal with them: -Colm feels time slipping away, so he cuts ties with the things that in his eyes, prevent him from making something with that time (Paidric). Eventually, goes crazy when he realizes he just can't. -Paidric has just been discarded like trash by a good friend of his (Colm). He tears his hair out, trying to understand why because he just can't. Eventually, he becomes the cynical anti-villain, the bad guy. -Sihboan is standing in the middle of the life she knows, watching it burn down around her. Those with whom she's closest (Colm and Paidric) are becoming distant due to their own problems. Everything she's trying to hold together is now completely out of control, so she completely removes herself and tries to make a home out of something entirely different. -Dominic is the most misunderstood person on Inisherin. Only a few cards have ever fallen his way (Paidric and Sihboan), so that's where he hangs his hat, his soul, and his future. He finally loses all hope when even THAT falls the wrong way, and he takes his own life.

This is an allegory for conflict and war, the Irish civil war in particular. Colm representing the IRA and anti treaty forces and Paidric the Pro treaty side.

This is that type of a movie, than can have a hundred Interpretation. My closest and powerful interpretation is: This movie was based on 1920 periodical time. During that time civil war was occurring in Ireland. Apparently how a war starts, dude? When two ideological differences create a barrier beside em. This movie is like that. And these war has no ends. It'd be passed on next generation by generation. You watched the last scene, right? It never ended as usual. Their psychological and ideological barrier will never end even the war. This movie explores human behaviour in the same time the theme of war literally. Director mixed with masalas perfectly and made a great juice. And some stuff like, this movie named by the wizard lady. It's a irish mythologic story there and explores some religion angle too. I'm not going to discuss about that.

This movie is so bizarre and weirdly educative, I love this because of that. I didn’t watch a movie like that apparently.

I remember walking in the theater not expecting anything, I hoped it would be a small but lovely movie and I wasn't disappointed. But man this movie is one that hasn't left me since I watched it, it clings to my core. Knowing there are relationships in my life I shouldn't put energy in on one hand and hoping on the other hand I'm a valuable partner in my deep friendship, so my closest friends don't think I'm not worth the energy. It made me appreciate my friendships a lot more.

I love the title of the film and what it represents. Colm says that the banshees in Inishiren don’t scream anymore, they just watch. It represents the quiet devastation of the character’s lives through mundane things

The movie in Bruges has the same leads, same director, same person scoring the film. This to me feels like just an alternative living of their lives.

Civilization can only be maintained by "niceness" - by selfless acts toward one another. Art cannot do that. It enhances our lives, and it can live beyond us, but only we can love each other and BE a community. These days people center their lives around art - the consumption (and creation of it) but do very little to maintain community, and so many of us end up isolated, and there is little help available to us when we need it, because we are too busy consuming, analyzing, creating art. Actual life is outside of us.
