when Brendan says that they had to shoot the last scene on the last day because they couldn't do it out of order as they did not know where it was going until the end. That's beautiful art man, and so rare to see Hollywood stars put up with. It shows how much they are really dedicated to the craft and delivering the authenticity of the story through Martin's vision. It also kind of explains why the ending is: "I'll see you later and we'll carry on off camrea". He didn't plan an ending, couldn't think of one and when it came time that he needed one, all he did was shrug his shoulders and say "I don't have one" Yet it's still one of the best films i've seen in many years. I suppose the ending isn't why you watch the Banshees of Inisherin

The simplicity of the writing allows the actors to wring every last emotion from each other. One scene I found particularly haunting was when Dominic asked Siobhán if she could love him. What Mr. Keoghan accomplishes in two minutes is astonishing. With facial tics, twisting fingers and muddled words, he is heartbreakingly excellent. When he softly says, " Well, there's another dream gone, " it's crippling.

This is a phenomenal film. I watch a lot of films and they simply don’t make films like this anymore? I never felt as if I were watching a scene in a film, it was as if I were sitting right there, watching all this unfold as if I lived in the same town and knew these characters my entire life. These three have some chemistry that I’m desperate to see more of. I’ve always loved their earlier film “In Bruges” and saw this without knowing anything about the plot. The only aspects of “In Bruges” this film includes are these two actors and the writer/director, that’s it. It’s a completely different film and perhaps even better than “In Bruges.” The dialog & emoting between Farrell and Gleeson was incredible to watch. Despite my being something of a simple, “nuts & bolts” fan of film, I simply can’t remember the last time I thought so intensely about a film days after viewing it. It says a lot about how entertaining this film was to watch, and how it’s a shame that we don’t see films like this very often.

I'm really happy for this latest work by Martin McDonagh. He is a master of producing deep, tender, and sweet sadness, hope, and dread, amid a show of absurd brutality and darkness. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are his vessels, so perfect in their pairing, but the whole cast (especially Barry Keoghan!) bring his exquisite writing to life in way that is simply awe-inspiring. The so-called "Irish black comedy" form, of which McDonagh is the master, is really about love and desire ... all gone awry. And it is in the going awry that the love and desire is shown in its clearest form. So it has a depth that is extraordinary.

The whole Irish Civil War parable stuff totally went over my head but the film had such an impact on me all the same. For me there was another kind of conflict, an internal conflict, between my drive to make something of myself and (as a 42 year old) the look back at all the things I lost along the way. To have a drive and aspirations is no bad thing but don't forget that the only truly important part of life is the connections we make and have. That scene where Pádraic rebukes Colm's "niceness" with an impassioned speech about how important his sister is to him, was just the most powerful scene. It really made me thing about my own life.

Watched this a couple of nights ago. I can't stop thinking about it. Haven't had a movie get to me so emotionally in quite some time. The best movie I've seen in quite some time as well. Lol How dare he put a rainbow in the sky ln the opening shot. (That's sarcasm) And what a wonderful little Donkey.

I am not sure if I liked or deeply loved this movie, but I am leaning towards the latter. Second viewing incoming. Simple but complex. Funny but sad. Superficial but deep. Human, all too human. Seems like we have a beautiful masterpiece here. A classic.

Best film I've watched in a very long time, I watch a fair few. Billboards was one of the best too. My kind of story telling. I'm very grateful for this art, thank you.

Oh, I just watched Banshees of Inisherin on HBO and am speechless and in tears. So sad, so touching, funny, painful, absurd and amazingly real. I wanted to see it in the theater but friends voted me down, then suddenly here it is on HBO. Wish I'd seen it at the theater though, too - but maybe I'd have been overwhelmed with emotions. Reminds me too of my wish that live local theater would return to the city I live in (mostly disappeared since 2020) - to see more of the playwright's work. In the meantime, guess I'll have to read them.

I had to watch this movie twice man it was so amazing and even better on the second watch. So great to have a spiritual successor to in Bruges. I saw in Bruges as a kid, it came out when I was like 10 and I loved it then and everytime I watch it it gets better and better. Think my last rewatch was 2 or 3 years ago might go for another soon
