The reason Clark wasn't using his powers at the tornado was because for one, his dad didn't want him to reveal he is different, and also he did not yet know the full extent of his powers. They knew he was strong but they didn't know he is practically invincible so his dad did not want him risking his life

Ok the optimal watching order of the DC movies is a little tricky. Too much studio interference led to us getting a subpar first look at these films. 1) Man of Steel (which you've seen) 2) Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition 3hr version). The theatrical release is choppier, and cut out some plot points, for time, that some movie-goers found confusing in the theaters 3) Suicide Squad. Bit of a side quest. Not really central to the overall universe but introduces you to more DC characters and a couple of cameos. 4) Wonder Woman 5) Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). Do not watch the Theatrical version. It's a bad call by the studio. The original director left due to family tragedy during post production. The study reshot most of the movie and gave use a different movie in theaters. Just watch the one released in 2021. 6) Aquaman 7)Shazam

@@Antycarr Much like the first movie it is a side quest. Entertaining enough but not really a must see as far as the DCEU. If you're really wanting to be a completist there is the mistitled Harley Quinn movie, which I personally couldn't sit through but that's mostly because of my affection for the source material comics that the movie ignored. If you are coming in ignorant of the characters and their relationship you're experience may differ.

It's refreshing to see someone come into this film with certain expectations, have those expectations largely subverted, and still fully grasp what the film makers were going for...instead of just turning to rage and hate because it wasn't another retread of Reeves' Superman. I felt like this take on the character was 1) well done and 2) very topical. Cavill killed it.

Problem was people went into theatre with a mindset of watching a simple superhero movie and nobody was ready for the thought provoking nature of this movie plus the growing mistrust of people in this modern era. In today's world if anyone like Superman emerged, people will be sceptical of him and wonder what his agenda is.

Very good film. However, I have to say that I measure a good Superman film by the role of Clark Kent. Superman doesn't have a mask, so it's even more important that Clark Kent's character is almost the complete opposite of Superman. Superman is confident, strong and brave, so Clark Kent has to be dorky, weak and scared. Christopher Reeves has, for me, delivered the best Clark Kent yet.

There are 2 basic reasons why the majority of people look at Clark and don't see it's Superman. First, denial much like Harry Potter with people only seeing what they want to see. Second, it was explained in one issue of I think Action Comics. The glasses are made from a kryptonian material which causes a small distortion making Clark look noticeable different than Superman.

Watchmen was meant to a deconstruction of the superhero genre, but was released at a time when people were just starting to discover how fun Marvel movies could be. The next one will be Batman V Superman and make sure to watch the Ultimate Edition (it's 3 hours long). BvS will surprise you a lot more, it'll be more complex, it'll be more focusing on morality of human. The Batman in this, you probably won't like him cause he has this broken morality. 52:35 Well said sir! Zack Snyder's DCEU movies draw from many previous and familiar DC elements (from your POV, Smallville) to tell the story of these awesome DC characters, but from a 21st century ground level experience and Zack's story telling asks of us the audience, some powerful & challenging questions, which some folks just didn't get or really buy into. Glad to see you also enjoying this kind of story telling! I think you're only at the beginning and going to enjoy the wild ride that's about to unfold for you across some epic movies to come. And I look forward to sharing in your journey! Thanks again for the content.

The main reason Clark's secret identity works in this is that the world knows superman exists but superman's photo has never been featured in the newspapers or anywhere. Louis dropped the story and never published it. Clark with glasses makes him look weak, soft and a geek (which is a stereotype) to the daily planet and the world.

By her math about how many he saves vs how many they kill. He just needs to save 7000 humans before they will kill everyone on the planet. Also one of the biggest parts for me was when he screamed after he killed Zod; he wasn't just upset about killing someone though that was clearly a large part of it. He also realized that he had just killed the last of his people, perhaps experiencing the same feelings that Zod had when he spoke about how he no longer 'had people'' at the start of the fight.

He doesn’t say anything first he stays there floating in front of them whilst they sit on the edge of the building crying. He then gently floats them down after they decide not to jump after a conversation they had in the early hours of the next morning. That was kinda Jor-El's last chance to do something right by his people who had so few willing to break from the norm and fight for what they believe in; Jor-El hoping that someone can survive and learn from their mistakes and right their wrongs, and Zod thinking if he was in control he could have saved at least some of his people if his planet was lost.

The council already decried that no one was allowed to leave because it would cause "unnecessary" panic. That's why the Els only made a ship big enough for Kal. (The later BS about being of that broken world, is a Snyder input) That whole terrified scenario you brought up was done in a recent movie called Brightburn. It's pretty crazy, and worth a watch. Did you actually watch Smallville? It was all about morals! They did do stuff like this in Smallville, but they slowed it down to their perspective instead. It is a completely other beast seeing it through normal human perception with the ironically in Smallville, fight scene! "Welcome to the planet" is one of my favorite lines from the DCEU. I'm so glad you had that last take on things, because that's exactly what Superman is. People misunderstand him so often as some super being throwing his weight around, but Superman is more a man of immeasurable restraint, than applied power!

As much as I all love this movie, I hate the Johnathan kent death, there was a reason why it was a heart attack, it was to show Clark that no matter how powerful he was there was still some things you couldnt prevent, a humbling experiance that showed him how precious life was.

Right you should drop all expectations and all you think you know about a franchise and just let the movie you went to see tell you their story. Unfortunately most DC people didn't do that when this came out and dished it but now people see it in a different light and love it

As a DC fan, I am really glad to hear how you understand the restraint and morality of Superman. Most people don’t pick up on that. I’ll definitely be watching your other reactions. Even with his godlike powers, the peoples respect is more important to him than the peoples fear.

You should check out the show Superman & Lois. It’s a very solid modern take on Superman, that delves into a lot relatable issues. Lois’s character is very elevated in the show so she isn’t just someone who needs rescuing all the time. It also gives a perfect look into the duality of Clark & Superman showing exactly why people never know he’s Superman. Also the quality of the effects is top notch, far better than other live action shows it’s like movie quality.

I hate when people say Hes nota relatable character because he’s to all powerful. He’s a man trying to figure out his place in the world, while his two father figures are telling him opposite ways to live. The movie is him trying to figure out which path in life to chose, and at the end of the day he doesn’t get to chose he is thrown into the responsibility which is a very relatable subject but it’s not a subject that everyone is going to relate to

As a long time Superman fan I must say that I never got into Smallville. Gave it a couple of tries but it didn't appeal to my Superman fandom. I never felt it was a good take on the character. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I did as well. There are a couple of points that I didn't care for but overall I really love this movie. Movies and TV show tend to spin the characters in a different way than the source material of comic books. So each media has minor and major differences. It is extremely rare that movie and/or TV stick closely to the source material.
