Ledger didn't know that Stiles was going to cry there during the poem-reading (neither did she), so his shell-shocked reaction is also genuine. This was a lightning-in-a-bottle movie.

I was 14 when this came out. I can't tell you how many time i've seen it and listened to the soundtrack. Fun fact, Joseph Gordon Levitt said in an interview last year that he really didn't want to do this movie because he considered himself to be a serious actor and felt a romantic teen comedy was beneath him. His agent convinced him to do it and he had a blast.

I actually saw this movie in theaters when I was about 9 or 10. The reason I wanted to see it was for the actress who played Bianca because she was the star of my favorite show as a kid called The Secret World of Alex Mack. I’ve loved the movie ever since. It’s still one of my favorites. I can watch it any time and not get bored of it.

I watched this for the first time yesterday and I was taken aback by the final shot of the band on the roof because I recognised that it must've been very difficult to film and they must've had to do it right, whereas now that kind of shot would've been taken from a drone. now knowing each retake would cost $5000 absolutely shocks me.

I was a junior in high school when it came out and I rented the VHS from our local Movie Gallery countless times before my best friend finally bought me a copy of it. I'm pretty sure I could still recite most of it, and I might even have the soundtrack CD around here somewhere. It also cemented my early love of Heath Ledger, may he rest in peace. I love the dialogue, the cast, the characters, the story, the humor, the touching moments, and although a few things don't hold up 20+ years later, for the most part this movie is still one I really really love. This movie happens to be my eldest sister's favourite movie (or at least one of her favourites). It's the movie that made Heath Ledger her big celebrity crush/hall pass (I guess she'll need to rethink that hall pass thing now). I was working at a movie theatre when it came out and got to see it for free. I really liked it and couldn't understand how Siskel & Ebert could give it 2 thumbs down. The theatre had a huge banner on the wall advertising the film. When it was time to take it down I rolled it up and took it home. That year I gave it to my sister for Christmas. I didn't even know that she loved the movie, I just thought that it would be a cool decoration for the family's rec room. She loved it, and to my knowledge she and her husband still keep it on their rec room wall (not 100% sure as I haven't been able to visit her for a long time, and they've moved a couple of times since the last time I visited).
