They as said aboard a successor of dorn that work with the inquisition as shock troops (or like odst from halo) after an incident (most likely the animation) they became more distant till they fully disappeared. Once G man heard about them he reinstated then from primarus and they now look for the ones that disappeared.

The boarding ship is a Caestus Assault Ram, literally laser beams it's way into ships. Ceramite armour is pretty damn strong (what the marine armour is made of) but it's not impenetrable. If you look closely you can see the melt marks on his armour, enough of that in the same space and it would go through. A subtle thing that not alot of people pick up on is the ice breaking under his feet when they enter the chamber, tell-tale sign of warp-presence. I always love watching the uninitiated see the inquisitorial agent being "exorcised" :D. There is about 10 pages of lore for a lot of what is seen, another 10 probably to support that lore.

@@FanEAW Yeah it happens in the Darktide Intro vid as well when they're warp translating, you can see the ice build up on the walls around the conscripts as the warp seeps in. I think it's due to warp-space essentially being "voidspace" so it cools down the air, but it's warp-stuff so it doesn't obey the laws of physics. I actually went digging for a reference but couldn't find any, asked a few friends too and we all know about it but couldn't actually say where we got it from.

ceramite is also used in lot of other things as well. including as a building material it pretty much has replaced metals. sure metal is still being used but ceramite is just so much stronger. explains how those hives stay upright under their own weight.

I've seen this like a million times, but the thing that impresses me every time is the music/sound design.

All of Astartes is amazing but I personally have two favourite moments. The first one is a detail many might miss at 03:30. Now what always boggles me is the second marine running up and the way he purposely unbalances himself, leans into the shot that he *anticipated* was coming, and he then uses the damn kinetic energy from the hit to RE-BALANCE himself so he can continue chugging like a train that never stops while the one after him stops. Like genuinely imagine fighting a thing like that lmao. My second is at 6:03. I love this one because that's the moment you realise that from start to finish, throughout that entire encounter, the marine was always intent on KILLING the psyker. At no point did the thought cross his mind that the dude infront of him was not going to die and you see this in his reaction time. As SOON as he felt the psychic hold vanish he put his knife in his neck because there wasn't a moment where he considered that anything else was going to happen, that's why it's so instant. The sharp focus and sheer singularity of mind of an Astartes is terrifying man, I love em to bits.

Well, yeah he anticipated it, he saw the first guy get shot and you can hear the fire rate of the thing. Honestly, he should have been able to avoid that but my vision of astartes are more along the op side of the scale. The psyker thing too is kind of something you just have to do. I mean you hesitate vs them you die. Even weak psykers like those.

Two other great parts that few people ever see to notice is the the telekinetic shove of the lone marine firing after the guys on the gantry above were pushed away. You can see his bolt rounds being redirected. The second is how so few people ever remark on the size difference of the dudes at the start turning side ways because the marines take up so much of the corridor. The amount of space they occupy is ridiculous.

Also 4:53 - this is the first time that the Space Marines fired on full auto. All of their prior shots were single precision shots or maybe a triple-burst. This is the first time they use full-auto, and use the railing to help them aim. Whatever the marines were firing at, they knew they needed to put a LOT of accurate ordnance down-range fast.

Silver usually represents 50 years and gold is 100 although I think it differs from chapter to chapter.

I love your reaction when the two higher ranking space marines (the ones with white accents on their armor) just obliterate the robed guy (Inquisitor). The thing is, in this universe, Demonic (not christian demons, but arguably worse) possession is absolutely a thing, and the Inquisitor was being possessed. Their reaction was, if anything, on the dangerously mild side. The 40k universe is, to put it mildly, not a nice place. 40k experts can feel free to correct me or expand, I'm by no means an expert :)

Your correct. And I think they didn't over kill enough. Because if the inquisitor was a psyker, he could of been turned into a literal portal to hell that could summon hundreds of deamons.

@@coreycoleman7973 Much more likely that was a sanctioned psyker that was a part of an inquisitors retinue. There are inquisitors that are psykers, but they are vastly in the minority. Psykers are constantly dsitracted by the need to focus on their mental defences. Their presence in the warp is much more visible, making it harder to keep a low profile against the great enemy. They are always suspectible to corruption and posession. Much better for an inquisitor to have a sanctioned psyker to wield when needed and not carry that constant extra danger and distraction himself when not. Plus you'd have to get a tribunal of 3 inquisitors to agree to make a psyker an inquisitor despite all of the cons above, so psyker inquisitors are exceptional and unique individuals indeed.

Demons can easily overpower a space marine so instances of demonic possession are taken to the highest possible degree imaginable. In this universe you cannot afford to take chances when everything can brutally kill you and your Allie’s with ease.

I'm new to WH40k and what I love about this is the portrayal of their brutal, unflinching, zero-hesitation nature. Almost terminator-like. Nothing is a shock, nothing is a surprise, they immediately adapt to any situation. The enemy mows through their own guys, sacrificing them just for the chance to land some shots on you? Just tank the hits, determine their position, charge your shot, delete them through the smoke. A mysterious forcefield holds your squad in place for a moment? No need to take a breath, to make sure you're okay, or to look around to your comrades. Immediately straight back to advancing. Total one-minded dedication to the mission.

The animation is just at an insane level, and I think not enough credit is given to the Film Direction. Dude manages to tell a story very well, with no more than a hand full of verbal lines (that you can hardly make out- the Orbs). Its so well directed, people (like yourself) who have little to no knowledge of 40k can watch it and still get what they need to get out of it, and long time 40k fans like myself just wet ourselves with how "true to the lore" the Marines act and fight. A true masterpiece of animation and direction, genius level production by just 1 dude, mind blowing. Even the sound design is brilliant, and as a Musician who also mixes and masters audio, I know how difficult it can be.

The eye lenses cracking thing, space marine helmets have a bunch of different vision settings, threat identifiers, targeting systems, ect. I'm like 99% sure that the red glowing multi-eye thing under his eye lens is supposed to be that. I mention it because a lot of people are confused by that and it's not really something that comes up in official material outside books so that's really the creator's interpretation of it. A pretty good one in my mind although I don't think that stuff would be as big but it has to read to an audience and making micro cameras or something might not really work. But this is incredibly accurate. The only thing I think is flat out wrong is it looks like the marine got hit by an auto cannon round on the pauldron. Which to be fair that's the best place to get hit. It's in lore basically a shield and is designed so the marine can charge with his shoulder down for more protection. But it would have left a crater in the armor. However, doing that is a lot of work beyond the "main" character where you can just get away with some mapping and don't have to make a whole new model. There are a lot of tricks in this where if you know what you're looking for, you can tell where he cut corners and that's 1 of them. Either that or he made the bullet pass too close. But either way still a great job.

It's called "Terrorsight", and you can see it from the Astartes' perspective at 2:18 As for the autocannon shot to the shoulder, on one hand, I kind of agree, but it's not that much of a stretch. Especially when, as you point out, it hits straight on the pauldron.

They might have a unique vision mode they call terror sight because they don't know what night vision is, it really depends on the book from what I've seen. But all the view modes, on boarded auspex, targeting systems, and whatever else is in the helmet together is known as auto-senses. As I said, I don't mind the autocannon not fully penetrating armor but I mean las guns leave scorch marks on power armor. By the end of a lot of stories, power armor is just full of half penetrated holes and even Terminator armor gets pretty visible damage. Plus if you look at how strong the autocannon is on TT, it's a S 7 AP -1 weapon. That's really a lethal weapon if it hit consecutively regardless if it's on the strongest part of the armor. Worst than a heavy bolter. Kind of why it doing 0 visible damage I can't buy but I understand to get that to work, you need to model a new puldron for that 1 character and that's a lot of work for little gain.

If you liked this you definitely will like Helsreach. I think it would be interesting for you to get a glimpse of what their personalities might be, since here is all minimalistic.

I always find it really fascinating to see new people's reactions to the Warhammer 40000k universe. I'm the kind of person who has a really wide ranging taste in media, I love cute and wholesome things in games and media but on the other end, I also like a lot of dystopian and horror fiction. Warhammer scratches that dystopian itch and scratches it HARD. As over the top dark as it can be at times it's not to everyone's taste, but you seem to be really into it so far! I'm curious to see your reaction to all the factions, saw you did a reaction to that, watching that video next!

I recommend reading R Scott Bakker's Second Apocalypse series. It's at least as grimdark as 40k.

the whole astartes series is a true master class in animation and cinematography, its just mad how good it is. edit: "they are immune! well.. not immune, they just dont give a fk." THAT is probably the most accurate thing ive ever heard 🤣

I've been watching piles of Astartes reactions every few months to keep recapturing the joy of seeing it through fresher eyes. You may have felt at a loss for words, but the questions you were asking (and the animation details that you responded to) show a clear with-it-ness and engagement that makes me pleased to have another fan to welcome into the fold. 🤠

My favorite part is that he fires the plasma pistol twice, then drops it, and you hear it sizzle on the deck. Plasma weapons get hot if you use them in rapid succession, so he knew he needed to drop it after the second shot.

Read the title, watched your reaction (there is a lot to take in, even if you know the setting) and I knew that the comments will be full a friendly people trying to explain as much as possible! I really like the community here and I hope you have fun on your journey to the grim darkness of the far future, where there is only war! When you live for 100s of years and everyday is filled with combat, you dont fuck up and you for sure dont have to say a word to eachother they already know whats going on.

The Age of Darkness trailer for the Horus Heresy tabletop game is set 10,000 years before this :) it gives a peek at the galactic civil war between the Emperor and his favoured ‘son’, the primarch Horus. The full story is told over 60+ novels and covers how all 18 of the primarchs were involved

There actually was a 40k video game where you take a small team into an enemy ship. Well, there are a few, but the first was called Space Crusade. It was made for Amiga. I tried it a bit on my mini after I acquired the .lha file for it. I managed to blow up one of my marines while shooting an Ork.

I'm loving the fact that you've been taking such an interest in this OBSCENELY large and awesome universe. I just got done seeing your "Bricky every wh40k faction explained" videos at the time of this comment. I would also HIGHLY recommend checking out some of the other videos that go more in depth on each of their lore stories as well as a specific video called "The Lord Inquisitor" which is another wh40k fan made animated short which honestly looks like something that is straight out of a movie or high budget animated TV show. This universe has been and likely will continue to be among my top 3 favorite franchises of all, probably sitting at either #1 or #2 (Destiny being a close contender in terms of lore)

This universe and community is absolutely incredible. I’m at this point probably in love with the lore for this game😭. Don’t even get me started on Destiny it’s one of my all-time favorite games!

Astartes armor is made of a material called Ceremite, an impact and heat resistant ceramic. Its not impenetrable but weapons that mow down regular troops take multiple hits. If you watch through looking for it the team lead who was hit by the multilaser does have some damage. If he had stood there and let them shoot him for more than a few seconds it would have eventually penetrated the armor. The Multilaser is a squad support weapon against normal infantry, but lacks the power to penetrate heavier armors without sustained fire. These guys are traitor troops, probably former Planetary Defense Force, so had limited access to better weapons issued to the Imperial Guard, much less Space Marines .75 caliber Bolters.

Also they do have a bunch of video games and books based in this universe, the Space Marine 2 Trailer by Warhammer is a good trailer for one of their shooter games based in this universe, you should check it out!

I appreciate the appreciation of my favourite fictional universe! It always makes me feel pride when people are so blown away by ‘Astartes’, and the fact that it was WH40K fan who was inspired to do the work (God knows how) of creating this unique piece of art. It also makes me a little proud to be British, since it was some of our number who came up with this madness that is the 40K universe, though I also believe the darkness of the setting is a reflection of the inglorious parts of our own history.

Again.. I love the reaction when the Inquisitor gets taken out. Always seems to surprise people.

Yep, because the uninitiated have no idea that the appropriate reaction to a psyker being possessed is to mentally or verbally issue forth so much profanity that you run right up to the very edge of heresy, all while doing everything in your power to ensure that the psyker is turned into the finest red mist possible with the equipment at your disposal. It doesn't take much for that to suddenly turn into a situation where everyone on the loyalist ship would rather be on the traitor ship being gunned down by the marines.

"I thought these two would be able to stop them, I thought wrong" The greatest thing about space Marines is there always way in over their head and also dominating in complete equal measure

The armor is ceremite, the best in the galaxy. And autocannons are str 7 no ap which is what the weapon seems to be, so the space marine just made all of his 3+ saves like a boss.

One of the most fun aspects of the Astartes. Is that these guys deal with the most dangerous shit on a near daily basis. They go all in against any enemy they face, from normal humans, to near god tier space aliens and actual demons. They're more or less just extremely skilled berserkers. Every fight for them is one where they put their life on the line, and if they're lucky they clutch it out like with the two psychic dudes in this short, if they're not up to snuff they die.

The Greatest Cleansing of Heritics i have ever witnessed.

Astartes, more known as Space Chads.

The thing I like most about Astartes is it perfectly captures the extraordinary power imbalances in 40K universe. It starts off with essentially ordinary soldiers trying to stop these space marines and they can't even slow them down. Even when they start breaking out the heavy weapons, there's just nothing they can do. But then, the space marines run into a couple of psykers and the entire power balance shifts. Now they actually need to use more complex squad tactics to overcome a much more powerful enemy. But by the end, they are confronted by the terrifying power of daemonic, or xenotech, or whatever that thing is, and they're just helpless against it. So much of what makes 40K what it is, is just packed into these 12 minutes.

The closest adaptation of Space Marines according to the background in my opinion. Fast, hard hitting, precise, no hesitation or deliberation - just doing what they're supposed to do. They are obviously weaker in the games for game balance purposes but this video shows their true capabilities and it just shows a small squad of baseline troopers. They have many other, more specialized, troops like Assault Marines ( Marines with Jetpowered Jumppacks), Heavy Weapon Specialists and Veterans with a different armor type called Terminator Armor. As someone else mentioned they are armies onto themselves, so they also have tanks, combat aircraft and their own space ships so imagine what a thousand of them with proper support can do.

@@ragnarian Lore stats that a single marine can change the course of a battle, a squad can win a war, a company can conqour a world and a chapter can dominate entire star systems. Legions almost conquered the entire galaxy in only a few centuries.

OMFG: just noticed for the first time watching the 2nd watch in this video!!!! The sergeant's armor was glowing in spots after getting hit with the gattling laser! I think the same spots his armor had big dents in later!

As you saw, the Space Marines carry a variety of weapons. Usually, they use the Bolt Gun or Bolt Thrower, which fires an explosive shell at a pretty high speed. (Thus, the detonations on the psychic shields thrown up around the two cyborg-types). Sometimes they carry a Plasma Pistol, which doesn't have the same rate of fire (due to the needed recharge time) to, but whatever it hits usually doesn't get back up. Additionally, they have combat knives and decades of training in how to use them fast, first, and dirtiest. Finally, they can use grenades of different types - "frag" (fragmentation) grenades for anti-personnel work, "krak" anti-armor grenades to take out tanks (or heavily-armored people), smoke grenades to block vision and offer protection from lasers.

I just love peoples reaction to a 40k style exorcism. 😂

Still better than any multimillion/billion dollar movies I've seen to this day

Something else that's really hard to notice is when it's panning out in the final shot there are little pillars in the ground far in front of the marine and you can see the rest of his squad warping onto the tops of those pillars

"What is that armor made out of?" It's multiple layers of materials called Plasteel and Adamantium (sci-fi metals) with an ablative layer of a highly heat resistant material called Ceramite. It's not indestructible, but against the projectile and laser weapons the enemies are using, it might as well be. That Autocannon that one fellow tried ambushing them with could very well have done some good damage if he had managed to hit them.

I just gotta say, I'm late to the party. I just stumbled on your channel and I'm loving your take on these videos. I've been bringing them the last 2 nights. Keep up the great work.

Just as a small information thing , that ship that didn't explode on impact was a boardingtorpedo, basically its made to crash into ships and drill their way into them , once inside it opens up and spacemarines come out from it , the regular spacemarine armor is make out of ceremite and plaststeel (spellings might be wrong here)

The best fan made animation EVER. He gets the weight, strength, power and brutality of these Space Marines, and what it means to face them in battle.

I feel as though Syama and creators like him would be best served by GW in the following way: give them a good salary, deadlines and rules. Then leave them alone in their own studios. It’s how we got Astartes in the first place…just without the money…

Instead, GW hired him, took full control and rights to his project, announced an "Astartes 2", then sidelined him completely. According to his socials, he's a freelancer and no longer works at GW. I have a feeling his hiring was framed more as a "join or else" considering how GW fucked over every other fan creator that refused to join their dumbass WH+ bullshit

Also the Orbs were saying something along the lines of "We cannot resist the Astartes. You must break the seal. Take them"

What you may not have noticed at the end the rest of his squad were teleporting onto the tops of the other plinths. They were being teleported through the Warp by the warp demon. The warp demon was the octopus looking creature that was wrapping it's tentacles around the marines. You can see small flashes on some of the plinths then you can see sand falling off of the tops of the plinths that was being displaced by the warping in Space Marines.

Space Marine 2 will be out this year. There's also a trailer.

At the end, the rest of the party members appear on the pillars.

"My armor is CONTEMPT"

Ahh space marines, the face of warhammer 40,000. For a single faction alone they have so much lore and depth, yet they honestly only encompass a solid 10% of the lore and mythos of this universe. Boys taken as young as 10 years old: trained, indoctrinated, and upgraded to become 7-foot tall hulking super soldiers that can live for thousands of years. Possessing 22 new organs within their altered bodies, encased in some of the heaviest and most impenetrable armor in the galaxy and given weapons that shoot grenade-sized miniature rockets as standard-issue guns. Stronger, faster, smarter than the average human yet retaining enough compassion to uphold their true duty as saviors of the weak. Each brotherhood of space marines is its own individual army, with their own commanders, colors, and history. A bulwark against the terror, the defenders of humanity. And they shall know no fear. And they're just. plain. cool. The armor is ceramite! Coolest little thing about that is that it isn't the best thing they have to make armor out of. Aroramite is far far better and is what is used for the golden armor the adeptes custodes wear. Those guys are my dudes

i love watching people watching this for the first time, this is what the future is, people who care enough to make something great off their own backs rather than a giant corporation buying the rights and falling over themselves to screw it up

Anyone is strike by the fact that this orb looks like Tuchulcha engine. There were 3 of them if i remember correctly and by the look it fits perfectly...

The "strongass ship" you mentioned at 2:10 is actually a breaching pod. Before it rammed into the outer hull of the target, it burned it through by meltaguns, and slid pretty deep inside. Astartes armour (this version) is made out of thick plates of hardened ceramite. There are multiple other armour "marks" - simply differently shaped than the baseline used mark, at least one of wich (tactical dreadnought terminator armour) is made out of adamantium. Different colour of armour means usually different chapter, or possibly a specialist, like medic - white (apothecary), engineer - red (techmarine), telepat/mage - blue (librarian) or morale officer slash padre - black (chaplain). Warhammer 40K is pretty rich and fertile universe, based on tabletop game (kinda like chess infused with fun) and crapload of books, PC games, comics, etc. If you are looking for a feeling out of pc game similar to Astartes video(s) you might go for Spacemarine 1 or 2 and/or Spacehulk Deathwing. Spacemarine are solo 3rd person/1st person shooter in prepared corridors of attacked human planet, Spacehulk is teambased shooter with everspawning enemies inside a pile of shipwrecks connected together. For simple entrance into the WH40K from the perspective of Spacemarine (adeptus astartes) go for William Kings Spacewolf books. The perspecrive of simple guardsman will appear to you if you go for Gave Thorpes Gaunts Ghosts novels. There are dozens or maybe hundrets of interesting groups and individuals in the universe, and almost all of them have a book or more books writen from their point of view.

Astartes armor is made of shaped adamantium (like Wolverine claws) and plasteel (futuristic plastic material as tough as steel for flexibilty) plates, encased in a ceramite ablative layer (for heat and shock resistance, imperial guardsman flak armor is the same but sheaper shit). Contrary to what some people believe though it's tough Astartes power armor does NOT make them impervious or invincible and staying in the field of fire for too long will result in bad things since 40k weapons are usually more OP than most 40k armors. It's the insane training, tactics and discipline that are what separates Astartes from lesser soldiers, not just the Boltguns and Power Armor and secondary organs. Not getting shot to begin with is still the go-to strategy.

For some clarification that nobody else seems to be doing (or at least, not in the first couple of dozen comments I can see), this is much more than just a tabletop wargame. Warhammer 40,000 as a franchise covers multiple tabletop wargames, ranging from small squad-based skirmish games to battles where each piece on the board represents dozens of soldiers, to space warfare, in addition to multiple series of novels in addition to standalone books, and a range of videogames including several shooters. A few of the shooters and strategy games have been notably well received even by non-fans of the franchise because they're just that good, and a couple have even reshaped industry standards for their genres.

This ONE guy did what a legion of Hollywood writers, directors, artists and producers couldn't The same could be said about Helsreach and The Last Church as well. I literally don't talk while watching these fan-made films Screw the mainstream. Support your "local" fan-made projects instead. That's where the true talent is in this day and age

Another (late) fun fact: That whole project was done by *a single person*. One man created this series and most consider it way above anything official that's been put out in the past. And yes, Astartes (or Space Marines as they're also known) are quite OP compared to baseline humans, though there's still bigger fish out there.

I fight a lot of space marines on the tabletop and yeah... You gotta respect them. Killing any Astartes is a TASK when your army is mostly bolters.

Yup, just one guy made all of this! And it's so much, much, much more than just the incredible animation! The sound design is so good you'd think a professional sound designer from Hollywood had done it. I mean, cmon, at 3:43 he even added doppler-effect and echo to the rounds going down the corridor, that's just... an insane amount of next level! It's the same with his use of camera angles and shot composition. Showing and not telling is extremely difficult to do. He's a cinematographer of the highest class, it's yet again like some top tier cinematographer from Hollywood did it all. Nope. Just some guy. It's beyond impressive. It's a masterpiece.

If you didn't notice, @1:02 and beyond look at how small the regular humans are compared to the Marines walking down the hall...yeah, they're built to be big.

Yea that Boarding Torpedo is handy, Tyranid Gene Stealers CUT THROUGH Space Marine armour like Butter, even Worse a Lictor will and can take out Squads like nothing..

One bit I always find amusing when new people react to these videos, as someone with more of a grasp on the specifics in the lore, is where the Space Marines are first approaching the Orb. Its attempts at stopping then does feel rather anemic, doesn't it? But when you know what Space Marines and their armor really are, what they're capable of, before you see that scene... you realize that any normal person and most other *beings* in the galaxy would be a red mist spattered across the walls, when faced with a telekinetic force that made Marines have to stop and brace, and struggle to maintain footing.

I dont think it was really a killing attack (well maybe the last one), rather a psychic/mind control attack, the same "touch" they used to dominate the Auriga humans and start the "uprisings".

@@ManDuderGuy Yeah, was thinking of the last "wave" where the space marines visibly struggled not to be thrown back. Not a killing move against a space marine, but if that was anything like a regular dude standing there they would be paste I imagine.

When this came out he was releasing each of these short episodes and there would be a big delay between them. it took a lot of work but really paid off.

This is special boarding ship it have very strong armor and powerful laser system to penetrate most ships... Their armor is made from material called Ceramite its highy heat resistant thats why that huge laser canon only dented it... other astartes weapon can penetrate it thou... they use Bolters that fire .75 cal self propeled explosive bullets... basicly little rockets xD... Anyways that project is 100% done right... visuals, sound efects, lightning, scenography, music... alot of people don't belive it was made by a single dude...

You need to watch the animated shorts where they're fighting the Tyranids. Now THOSE things are tough! Same incredible animation though- but with more story and dialogue.

Everyone keeps saying this was made by only one guy. It actually wasn't. He made the first episode, which is also the shortest. Every episode after that was made by a team.

Jaw drop, just another day in 40k.

The orb said "No escape! I have failed, we have all failed! The Astartes defy our touch! You must return! Break your seal! We'll never survive! You must take them!" the guy then says "Recall them immediately!!" then he gets possessed.

It happens so quickly it's easy to miss, but the tentacled creature holding the 5 marines int he void is attacked by a shadow (likely a warp-creature, or a daemon), and its tentacles begin to disintegrate, releasing the marines and causing them to pop into existence on that world surrounded by giant skeletons. I don't think it intended to transport them safely, but being attacked in the warp caused it to change its plans quickly.

there is a version of this video called all they fear is astartes, and it has the doom song all they fear is you over it, and it fits perfectly

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it before but the final scene, if you watch the top of the pillars closely you will see flashes as each marine is brought to this place. One falls because the pillar is broken. If you estimate the scale, the pillars are about 300' tall and the valley is likely around half a mile across. Making the "statues" something like 600' tall.

The boarding craft is a Caestus Assault Ram, fitted with twin-linked Magna Meltas that burn through the hull of an enemy ship like BUTTAH. Space Marine armour is made of Ceramite, an extremely durable and efficient heat and shock dissipating material. Low grade ceramite is used in producing flak armour for the Imperial Guard and also as building materials for hab units on Imperial hive worlds. Bolter shells are essentially small mass-reactive RPGs, which explode when surrounded by mass (aka, a body). They are used almost exclusively by the Astartes and the Adepta Sororitas. It has been said of Space Marines that nothing that big should move that fast. They can sprint at speeds upwards of 50-60 mph. Imagine seeing a half ton of angry superhuman bearing down on you like a literal freight train. When the Inquisition psyker warned the others to 'recall them immediately', he lost his focus and was possessed by the orb, which of course is met with the most direct and immediate termination, as a possessed psyker can allow Daemons from the Warp through into the Materium and completely overwhelm a vessel. There are also TWO games you can play as a Space Marine, fittingly called Space Marine, and Space Marine 2 (the second is forthcoming)

They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines such that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

Their armors are not indestructible, but they can take a lot. The main defense are actually these giant shoulder pauldrons, which are actually shield generators*. These "force-shields" "sucking" up most of the (kinetic) energy of any given projectile, so the armor only has to deal with what is left, so to say. The scene with the Lascannon shows that the system has its limits, that's why he went into cover and had to smoke/blind them. *Only the "newer" models of the Power Armor have those, older (or even ancient) ones do not.

Their pauldrons don't have shield generators and that was a multi laser not a lascannon.

That is pretty much the concept of the entire game :D

I've been obsessed with Warhammer 40K since the year 2000. I own 16 complete armies of various factions within the 40K universe and own literally over a hundred 40K novels. In my opinion 40K is the most amazing and immersive Sci-Fi universe that's ever been created. The stories, worlds and characters within the universe are so interesting and different than anything else within the genre. At its core 40K revolves around the concept that in the grim darkness of the future there is only war. It is brutal, visceral and uber violent. When Syama released these video clips, the 40K fan nerds lost their collective minds and had a similar reaction to yours. It a masterpiece. So much so that Games Workshop hired him to work in their animation studio. Allegedly, Astartes II is set to be released later this year. Thanks for the content. Liked and subscribed. I don't know how many times I've watched Astartes, but I always feel like I pick up on something new each time.

Okay, so the story as I understand it is this. An Astartes ship found an orb near their warp core. They sealed it and had an inquisitor work on it. They discovered that a renegade ship had a similar orb and went to clear the ship and investigate. They put in probes for the inquisitor to investigate them both, but they used the connection through the Inquisitor to communicate. The Inquisitor warned the marines that the ones on the other ship were about to be grabbed by the orb, but it was too late as the Inquisitor was infected/corrupted with the warp (think demon energy). Demon energy gets more wild the stronger a person it infects and Inquisitors are up there, to... Stop the infection. After that the marines with the other orb were attacked as they received the transmission, and were pulled in. The Orb 'escaped' as it had been told to do and survived the Astartes plasma gun (which is actually massive and does a lot of damage for its size, since marines themselves are 9+ feet tall each.) The marine in the end survived because Marines are full of all kinds of BS (literally their blood coagulates near instantly when exposed to air) when it comes to survival. His buddies are probably out there, now he just has to find them and hope they aren't corrupted or dead.

Space Marine 2 comes out soon, hopefully. If you're looking for video games in the WH 4OK universe, maybe check that out.

In reality, the way the treated Psykers was actually a bit too lax, as some have noted. (The three psykers we see being the robed, masked 1-armed pair and the inquisitoral acolyte pondering the orb.) Standard operating procedure once those twins(?) were killed would have been to immediately stomp on their skulls for good measure, and that acolyte should've had a bolt-round in him MUCH SOONER. the speed with which a mildly capable psyker can wreck shit is honestly terrifying.

Space marine armor is Adamantium and reinforced Mobian Steel, coated in Ceramite. Which is essentially what space tanks are made out of. All fictional stuff save "steel" but Mobian Steel is apparently 100 times stronger than earth steel b/c of the planet it comes from. But yea, bullets don't even scratch it.

I believe GW hired the guy who made these... So he's with the chaos gods now.

The orbs are some kind of powerful alien beings that dominated/mind-controlled a group or planet of humans and created a rebellion (The Auriga Uprisings). The gigantic golden body was probably going to be a body/avatar for the orb on the ship. The mind control that worked on normal humans on Auriga didn't work on the emperor's children ("the astartes defy our touch").

I love that inclusion of the gold body, and how they walk past it, ignoring it. It sends the sign that there is a much larger universe out there, but it isn't important to this story.
