It's Not that hard to find a pet friendly place. I can understand financial reasons, but still think that it can be fixed and keep the dog. I moved a LOT and never failed to find a rental , and had a 160 pound Bullmastiff once, too.

In general I agree, but always remember there are legitimate reasons for having to give up a dog. I'm not saying that's what happened here tho. They did say that the family moved and couldn't afford to take her with them (either by paying for a pet friendly apartment or paying a pet fee). Now if they just moved for the hell of it then absolutely their fault but that isn't usually the case. Maybe they couldn't afford their current home, or maybe that had to move for a job either because they lost their old one or they're being offered more money. A big pay bump can change a families life completely, is it worth it to give up on giving your child a better future and potentially escaping poverty for the sake of a dog at the end of it's life. Us dog lovers may think so but most regular people won't. Again I'm not at all saying any of this happened, just giving examples of what could've been going on. There are plenty of other reason people give up dogs such as. Ill health, either physically or mentally. Either one can make looking after a dog impossible. Being unable to cope, not everyone can look after a dog (hence why one can end up in a crate for 14 years), if your in over your head giving up the dog is the right thing to do. Poverty, If you can barely afford to feed your kids how can you feed a dog. It's not fair to let it go hungry. I expect a lot of dogs are gonna end up in shelters for this very reason over the next 2 years, Which is terrible because shelters will be receiving less money and so inevitably there'll be a massive uptick in euthanizing and it's really no ones fault. Again I'm in no way saying that this family were definitely in the right, we don't know their situation. I'm just saying that whilst many who give up dogs are POS (and if they are wouldn't you want them to give up the dog) but definitely not all. Gotta remember that you can't judge someone without knowing their situation.

@@MsMarco6 You give some good examples there and yes there absolutely are legitimate reasons as to why people become unable to take care of a pet; what I’m referring to are cases where people give up a pet entirely for selfish reasons. It’s “inconvenient”, in other words. 😊

@@MsMarco6 definitely agree that there are legit reasons, but you should never get a pet if you don't know if you can provide for it ALWAYS, meaning if you know you don't get enough income to also take care of the pet then just don't get one, but let's think about the bright side, at least they didn't put the healthy dog down and gave it to a shelter instead.

Lee, you and your wife are absolutely amazing! I love what you guys do! I do not have a house big enough for a crew like you two have, but I do have 2 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats. They are the best. I lost my husband to cancer December 30, lost my job on March 31, and had to quarantine due to Covid-19. I don’t know how I would have survived had it not been for my fur babies. Thank you for saving as many lives as you do. 😁❤️🌈🐶😻

That's what is always so horrifying to imagine. I was taken away from my birth mother at 7 years old, I remember it well. I was in a fucked up foster home for 2 years before being adopted. BUT again, it is not difficult to find a rental property to accept kids, whilst it is very difficult AND expensive to find one that accepts dogs OR cats. And let me tell you something, as someone who was a bloody streetkid, in a nation with much better safety nets than America, living on the streets is NOT fun as a teen, and will be even worse as an older adult.

They have full reign of our house no boundaries.. I love my dogs they are my life hubby's too. I once adopted a 14 year old golden retriever who was paralyzed with both back legs, ear infection, and spinal tumor that's inoperable. We had the most awesome 8 months together! I loved him so much, he was the best older golden gentleman!!

@Denise Blair is it really? Maybe it's a Florida thing. I looked into it but maybe I should again once I have a decent yard!

If she's already 14 yrs old, then she really just needs someone to show her some mercy, and give her a year of a peaceful life. Dogs rarely live over 15 years.

I've just discovered your channel and I can honestly say I've fallen in love with what you do. I'm in the middle of a third lockdown in England and it's started to take it's toll. Watching your videos has given me a new sense of JOY again. Thank you you so much for what you do and sharing it. I haven't got time to take dogs in the way you do but I will be looking in to helping out at an animal sanctuary. You have inspired this in me. I can't find a word that says how amazing I think what you are doing is!!!! Thank you so much for what you are doing and sharing🤗🤗🤗

Watched this video while on the floor with my 14 year old rescue. I cannot understand how anyone can abandon a dog they've had its entire life FOR ANY REASON. Thank you for getting them both!

My heart breaks for senior dogs surrendered to rescues. I lost my boy of 12 1/2 yrs. over 9 mos. ago and would give anything to have him back again. Thank you for coming to help this girl ❤
