    Nope but he is a 1500 so that should give everyone under 1500 hope🤣 maybe he was just having a bad day, I was hoping for a better match up tbh but that's what we got lol... He was actually a previous 1700 and beat me on my main account when i was 1600. I didn't even realize but after I saw this comment I wanted to check his profile again just to see if he actually had a decent bit of games but wow that's crazy🤣

    Yes, chessable is great! However, don't only focus on opening study. This is something people make a mistake with, it's a tool and will help you get better but it shouldn't be your only study. Make sure to do your puzzles, study endgames and analyze your games. Opening study will just give you a slight advantage but if you don't know what to do after the opening then you won't improve

    8:28 Bishop C4 check, King F8 (only legal move), Bishop G5 - attack the knight, pin the black bishop and win a piece.

    yeah the biggest thing that hurts my rating is if I play while tilted. Now I always stop after 2 losses because I know I'd be frustrated and won't be playing my best chess and that it'd be a waste of time.

    That's the thing about playing E5 as black, you need to know so much theory just to survive. You kneed to know what to do against, the kings gambit, the scotch gambit, the vienna, the evans gambit, and about a million other things. I would be interested if you could maintain your 1800 rating if you switched to playing E5 as black.

    One fun fact is when I played e4 e5 for like the first time at 1600 and I forgot Vienna theory I found d5 by myself when my opponents played the gambit

    Chess Elo is so confusing at time. Below 1100, chess is chaotic. I found that from 1100-1200, players were really good at both theory and tactics. From 1200 onward, they know theory but suck at tactics or the complete opposite. I'm not sure if it's me, reading books watching lots of videos and ultimately, I'm getting better, so I might be blindsided by that. But based on observations, it looks like that's the case.

    At 21:01 I think bb4 makes sense you wanna castle and go ba5 after a3 I will play it. After qg4 bxc3 pawn takes c3 ne7 qxg7 rook g8 and black is good

  • @ApexChesss

    Bb4 threatens nothing and the bishop doesn't really want to be there. It's just a target really. Opponent definitely shouldn't waste tempo playing a3 or even bd2

    @@user-gu9zj6vi3s nono, its not like the worst move. It does make sense since you want to develop and castle but I don't think I ever really aim to put my bishop there in these structures. Typically I'd want to get the knight out to target the center, maybe push the backward pawn and then develop the bishop and castle

    I am glad you mentioned how most people who play 15/10 act like they're playing blitz. Development is key. This game is a bad example because this guy played horribly and much too quickly! Anyone who has seen Levy's video knows what the best move is to the Vienna Gambit. It's actually -0.2 if black pays d5. This guy played like an 800 to be honest. Memorizing opening theory does nothing to help your chess game without understanding why! I know what you were trying to do with this video! You just didn't want to play a game today🤣! If you want to get better at chess, play LONGER games where you actually have time to think about what you want to do and then you have to ANALYZE your games! Opening theory is overrated! Spend your time doing tactics! 1800 is probably like 1500 FIDE. Chesscoms rating are overblown like Lichess. Anyway, just have fun! Don't buy opening courses! It's interesting that you took 3 minutes to solve that 2600 puzzle but most of us don't take the time to think in a game. Why is it that y(our) puzzle rating could be 2600 but our actually rating is hundreds of points lower?

    Let's say someone plays am Albin or England and you refuse to study those lines, what will you do. Playing a majority of openings in chess makes the middlegames fun. I can say I know the theory of every single opening in chess and I don't regret it, like if black plays a sveshnikov and u are trying to find the right moves u will get destroyed

  • @ApexChesss

    @ApexChesss

    2 күн бұрын

    Idk that's your opinion. Learning opening theory and knowing what to do against different lines of my openings is literally what I did obsessively before making a jump from 1500-1700. Now obviously, you don't need to do that but if my opponent in this game had looked at some lines even for a little bit(while still doing tactics, endgame, ect... Do it all imo) then he wouldn't have got destroyed. Plus no, my other daily video will still be out. I just wanted to make a video playing against a 1500 and throw some tips towards the lower rated players

    You got this. Focus on developing your pieces and fighting for the center in the opening. Then make sure you're doing your puzzles so when your opponent makes a mistake you can catch the tactics and dont forget to not play one sided chess only looking at what you want to do and check out the endgame course in my description (free). It will help you a lot
