It is rare that I find someone who also speaks in movie quotes, thanks for the great van build vids. I too, chose the fan of doom, and have replaced a board before I realized that the charging voltage for my lithium batteries, was fatal to the fan board. I've placed a voltage limit circuit ahead of the fan board input to prevent this from happening again.

Too funny. If they use this format for teaching in schools, the drop out rates would go down and we have a lot more interested kids. Thanks for all this good information!

I love watching your videos they are informative and very entertaining... I always look forward to towatching you on your journey. I understand and get all the nerdy jokes that my friends find hilarious because I'm the outdoors, handyman, sports guy that's also a nerd two contradictory personalities... I'm just in the process of starting my van conversion ( I am converting a stepvan a Doritos van to be precise, lol)... still mostly collecting what I need for power, but getting there, I'm doing 2200 watts of solar for sure. I have an outback 24v inverter (free from work... we have a lot we dont need anymore), or I might go with the Renogy 48v system... I basically want the ability to produce and store way more power than I will use 😂. Well, like I said, I love your videos maybe some day we will meet out there on the road....

I installed a MaxxAir fan like yours but one morning I hit the close button and the motor didn’t stop closing and broke the arm off.

OK, princess Tory!

Humble Road solved that problem quite a while ago with the fried Maxxair fan boards. You'll need a simple off the shelf voltage regulator. He also uses silicone spray on the board so it doesn't crap out because of condensation. Hopefully Maxxair solved the over voltage problem already by now(?)

Yes! So getting a regulator can fix the over voltage issue / oversensitive sensors however it doesn’t seem Maxxair has fixed it from what I’ve seen and it can also happen after owning the fan a while hence it’s still something worth mentioning so people can problem solve if their fan goes bazzerk ☺️ But yeah a 12V voltage regulator between the power supply & fan should fix it right up, I’ve seen it in a few vans unfortunately :( Products should just work correctly when you buy them 😅🤷🏽‍♀️

@@ToryDeluryBetter be safe than sorry for a few extra bucks. People create the most crazy power systems in their vans and not always up to spec to say it politely. You can't blame it all on the fan manufacturer.

Most entertaining video you've made yet --- and you've made some pretty damn entertaining ones already!! Personally, I just can't see putting screws through *any* surface while leaving most of the screw not screwed into anything at all -- I'll take your word for it, and won't argue that it may well work, but I still find it dubious and wouldn't chance it myself. Neat idea putting the fan in a window. Don't know if that would be a security risk for some, though? Cheers!...from North Vancouver

I had a lot of fun making it! :) Also this is why people put a wooden frame underneath the fan on the inside, in my (unprofessional) opinion it would be better to give screws something to screw in from underneath rather than above so that it is really griping / sandwiching it to the metal. And the wood for that is MUCH cheaper than an adapter flange. 😅 Thanks again! 💫🌈☺️

You can use conformal spray coating, also known as "Humiseal" on the printed circuit board to make it waterproof.

Yes! That is what I was referring to about making another video demonstrating! I ordered the spray & it took 2 weeks to come in though ☠️ But I’m recording that video while applying it this weekend to protect it! :)

People have tutorials on putting in just an adjustable speed switch and another switch for changing fan direction if the circuit board goes bad…doesn’t look as nice I guess.

there this stuff called dielectric grease that might be good if you cover the whole circuit board in it and I might keep the condensation off or make sure there is good ventilation from the inside so any moisture can evaporate. the fan feud you did was kinda impressive and a little concerning great editing and filming but in the middle of desert by yourself makes me wonder how many Wilson's do you have out there... all in good fun. ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ
