Man I just went through a similar experience with my 2020 790 Adventure. I bought it brand new and within the first 500 miles it started leaking oil from somewhere at the top of the engine. A small leak that didn’t prevent me from riding the bike, but still frustrating considering it was a brand new $13K motorcycle. About a year later I decide to take it to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty. It ended up needing a new valve cover gasket and it took 5 MONTHS to get the parts from KTM. The worst part is that the bike sat at the dealer the entire time because they had to take it apart to diagnose the issue. I agree with you though, KTM makes unbelievable motorcycles, but hopefully you never need to do anything outside of routine maintenance on them.

Get a sportster 48 or a dyna, you’re living a false sense of self with that supermoto. Young padawan move paying 750 to insurance for a new ignition that cost 35 bucks and a 20 min install…. Could have bought a frame on eBay for 1300. Insurance is for bad crashes, everything else diy.

I started watching YN in 2021, the same time I started riding. I felt it was the best info at the time, but I always kinda thought that Yam was a bit opinionated (D) but funny. I admit that over time I grew to like him a lot, and the entire channel Josh, Courtney…all were great. But really? That last video was such a turn off…indulgent, awkward, I don’t know if Yam was bragging about letting you go cause he’s so successful? I don’t know? He even put it in the title (let him go). He should have made you a partner…like a substantial partner (35% or more). Spite If you were supportive or on board with that last video, fine, but I was not and many of YOUR fans were NOT. I’m here now because I have a feeling Yam did you wrong. I noticed you never once said to Yam thanks for the opportunity, it’s been great working here, none of that. Your heart was with your fans only, not with Yam. BEST OF LUCK

Spite was always the best thing about Yam's channel...I don't watch much of Yam's stuff these days. He generally puts out good info and can be funny, but sometimes rubs me the wrong way. And yeah, the "letting him go" video was really weird and awkward.

I've noticed you were missing in Yammie's videos. I was like "Where's Spite?" I found this channel on accident because I was looking at the SCMR. Subbed! I only just started giving supermotos a serious look. I don't want to change the oil on a CRF-450RL every couple of weeks, so this bike was tempting because of the maintenance intervals. KTM made my next door neighbor a motorcycle mechanic because the two he had were extremely unreliable, so between that and your experience, I know I don't feel like going through all of that bullshit. It's the first time in a long time KTM got me interested, only for reality to set in shortly after like it has before. I don't find any other supermoto interesting enough, mainly because of the seat and gas tank.

I share your pain w ktm when it comes to the amount of time it takes to get parts for my 390 Duke . I ordered two washers and it took 3 weeks to get those washers. A rear tire two a month and a half. A kick stand is ordered and am currently two weeks and waiting. Partly a dealer issue too. Not as bad as your situation but man. Their parts take FOR EVER to arrive to my dealer. I’ve had this bike for a little over one year and I’ve had more issues than I’d care to elaborate on when it comes to the engine and my dash just turning off mid ride . A little over a year and my kickstand rusted and cracked right in the middle. It wouldn’t be too big an issue if this bike wasn’t my daily. A wee disappointed 😐. All that said Spite, great video man.

Oh man i can feel your frustration. I was just talking to a friend about this exact supermoto this evening. We both own KTMs and still ride it. Ironically my RC has been in the shop for 8 months as well cause my engine gearings blew up while riding back in November 2021.. luckily my warranty covered the damage. Anyhoo I've been watching you from the other channel since you started there but count on it that i will be watching here religiously and so will many others for sure. P.S. to my frustration with KTM. I bought myself another bike instead to fill in the void that it left behind for 8 months while waiting for the parts arrive.. It only took me 1 month of following up on my parts to eventually give up and buy another bike. Fastforward to August 2022. I just got my KTM RC back 1 month ago after i did a full on Karen as well on the General Manager. Suddenly 2 weeks after my parts arrived and it got fixed. I love my KTM it looks great and performs well! But the aftersales service is just so bad. You're right. I wouldn't recommend the KTM to anyone out of good conscience.

Re the speed wobble - I've got a 690 enduro of the same vintage, and had high speed wobble, esp on new tyres. Played with the suspension, but never really got it right, but did notice two distinct and very effective ways of making it go altogether, being as it's ultimately a feedback-of-input prob. One method was pulling back quite hard on both bars - but this can wreck your shoulders.... so the second was as simple as pressing both feet down hard on the pegs. Might just be what it does to my set -up, my way of riding, my inputs - but it works.

Top tip. 1. Don’t use the steering lock when the bike is outside your house. 2. Get rid of the fixed disc lock. If the thief manages to cut through your locked chain then there is nothing to indicate that a disc lock is fitted so the thief will drop it as he tries to ride off and then it will be trashed again. The bike is insured so unless that crap cuts your insurance premiums take it off.

So far I've had a coolant hose leak that was only fixed with Samco racing hoses, then a few months after that my thermostat housing seal went, it didn't cost much but for how good the quality and attention to detail is on other aspects of the bike. I just don't understand how they let themselves down with the most basic of components.

Here's something that could help AND have you be fully independent: Tl/dr: dynojet auto tune. Be your own tuner. It'll also scratch that geeky tweak head itch. Long story: I bought a 2016 daytona 675r (used) after I sold my street triple 765rs for ergos + better suspension/handling package. The bike came with an akra full titanium system + pcv. Now the akra comes, loaded from factory, with a wideband o2 bung and they supply an adapter that let's you mount your stock o2 sensor. So I had that going for a few days, let the ecu do its adaptation thing as best as it could. The pcv had a hindle full system map loaded which was Bleh. There were quite a few holes/floods in the fuelling, especially in the lower revs. Mind you, there are 0 dynos or dyno tuners in the area so I'm on my own with the tuning. The ecu was flashed with the factory arrow full system map so at least it was in the "safe" ballpark. After a week or so of running this setup I scored a used auto tune (people seem to want to sell theirs once their base map has been built for some reason) in really good shape, and I had a dongle for the stock o2 sensor. So I installed that and my mechanic helped me with a brilliant and super cheap solution for blocking off the SAI (secondary air injection), which I'd disabled in the ecu flash but that just kept the valves open all the time. I set up the AFR target table, dialled in the idling fuelling using the sensor data. And within 10 minutes of my first ride the real time "auto tune" was REALLY doing its magic. I could feel the sluggish throttle spots getting cleaned up and when I got home, I saw that it had actually CUT a bunch of fuel from all over the place and added fuel in the 4-6k range. Which was a revelation. You've to be a bit methodical about the throttle inputs you give it, and I found 5th or 6th gear at low speeds were amazing to iron out all the low rev stuff because it would move through the cells slower, and give the sensor+auto tune a better chance of nailing that tps/rpm range. EBay is your friend. And installation is super duper easy. Get a positap+longer power cable+crimps etc to plug the power into the rear tail light. Warning: the wideband sensor has a GIGANTIC connecter with a short wire, so some zip tie magic will need to be done to get it mounted cleanly and safely. My mechanic was a star and did a phenomenal install. I'm sure you'll ace it with your skills.

100% agree with proceeding with caution when buying a KTM right now. Been waiting 7 months for my duke to be fixed. Didn't even have my duke for a year and the entire engine needed to be replaced. I get that isn't a quick fix but 7 months is a joke. And to say my experience with KTM and the dealership wasn't a pleasant one is a huge understatement

Hi Spite. I'm also a TJs client. 2020 Husqvarna Vitpilen 701. In blue, also with mods. SC Project exhaust, recovered seat with gel included, axle sliders, lever guards, engine guard, tail tidy, turn signals, swapped the plastic pillion for an older year passenger pillion seat that I also recovered. I still have a Bad Winners kit to put on when I get bored or my warranty expires. If we added in Whitney we would have the whole crew, just short a duke 690. Best wishes for your channel and prosperity. P.S. Is your valve clearance check a 5 hour service too?

Sounds like how my dad blew the head gasket and stretched the head bolts on his Husqvarna FE 701 (same bike as the 690 SMCR, different name) after 4800km and a session of beating the thous in the twisties. That was the easy part to fix with head studs and a new gasket but when putting the ECU back in, 2 of the plugs are identical and so he plugged them in the wrong way and fried it, took him 6 months to find an ECU and it wasn't even a new one, was off his buddies wrecked one cause they're wasn't any available in the Oceania

KZread recommended the channel to me even though I hadn't subscribed yet! Nice!! Share the dealership name. We want to stay away from them! Btw, is the metal something that can't be welded? Could've been a temp fix while "waiting" for the new frame if so.

I bought a a new KTM 1190 ADVR back in 2014. Within 2 months, the ignition failed and I had to wait 7 months to get a new one. The dealer ended up putting in a used one in till I could get another from KTM. Love the bikes, but know what you're buying. KTMs are the idea idea, but the smart idea. I love a 701e and am looking at a KTM 350 so obviously I choose fun. The 701/690 platform is soo much fun.

Love the bike! A lot of issues with them but, Man Are They Fun! For the speed wobble issue... I changed the wheels to the KTM 690 Duke mag wheels and it makes the handling way better! They bolt right on and they are awesome! The new 2023 GasGas SM700 comes stock with them. You already got the slave cylinder, make sure you get the torqdrive clutch as well. You won't regret it, I love it on my bike. I have the same exhaust and the air box mods will make a big difference. Hit me up if you have any questions? Ride Safe! Alex O

Hm interesting that your bike has a bit of a wobble. My 701 SM has been rock solid in that aspect. So much so that I've even commented numerous times to myself of how stable it is. I'm about 6 feet and 200 lbs though, so not quite as big as you, but still bigger than many folks. Wonder how much of difference weight and size make in that regard. I keep my front forks on the "regular" damping setting after having played with the softer and harder settings.

Would love to see the kind of build you'll pull on a Harley Davidson, I kinda prefer Road King for concept builds, but I see reason for Sportster for budget. So, hoping ya blow up to be able to build a 8-9 second Harley Davidson.
