Wow, sure glad I read all these comments! I was just getting ready to order my new sniper kit tonight but thanks to all these good folks for sharing their experience and stories. Now I'm going to run like hell the opposite direction. I think I'm going to research the Aces Kill Shot or the Aces Wild Card systems. I definitely don't want all these problems. I've went through so many carburetors on my old classic cars, from sitting too much, they start leaking fuel and just all around run like crap if I don't run them once a week or so. I really thought this aftermarket fuel injection was my answer but thanks to all you guys who took the time to comment, it won't be Holley😂

Dude, thank you so much for this video... You should know how many times I harassed Holley with my EFI questions last year (to the point I don't wanna ask them anymore).. just because that part of their website is JUNK and they admitted it multiple times. I've had to look up a ton of utube videos and read 100s of web articles just to realise what was out there and what exactly it is need for my application. For somebody new in the efi game it is IMPOSSIBLE to know what's playing' with the different Holley kits. Glad you took the time to explain... I hope Holley is doing what they should be for your efforts. Keep making nice content man

You make it sound so simple, easy and reliable. Have you commented on any of the hundreds of videos of people that are VERY DISAPPOINTED with their very expensive Holley EFI? Customers left stranded, sensor failures, etc.

I just pucked up a Plymouth scamp with a 360 running the holley efi system. It wasnt what I installed. Software crapped out and I tried uploading software and firmware updates tried resetting the system just to start the programming from scratch again in an attempt to get it running. Final result my car wont run cause of software. So I'm ditching the system for a holley 650 dp. I know I will be happier cause software wont be controlling my car. I guess I'll miss out on all those big fuel savings with my 440 hp motor.

Side note: you can change injectors in any of these systems. The "bowls" come apart with 4 bolts just like any carb bowl, and any injector that is the correct length will fit. You can buy a base Sniper and install a set of ID2600's, for example. Also, page 9 of the Sniper Tuning and Log View Software has instructions for E-85 use... so my only guess as to why they would not recommend it is, maybe their 100lb/hr injectors don't come with stainless steel internals. So if you replace them, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use it.

Yea you can do whatever you want just don’t expect support from Holley after you do it. Holley basically says the units are not field serviceable (like swapping or fixing injectors) but it’s a liability thing. Unlike a traditional multiport system if you have a fuel leak you can see it, with the snipers you can’t so i get it. It’s a shame in todays world everybody wants to blame everybody else for their mess ups, so things have to be advertised a certain way. The modern world kinda sucks haha

@@dannybarlow4256 They are junk. The quality control from Holley is a joke. I've been doing a few things with the XFI Sportsman which so far is a nice system and definitely a bit step above any Holley TBI system. More complicated than a Sniper, but more like a real quality EFI system in some ways. I wish Fueltech would do a competitive self-learn system to show the others how it should be done.

Just my 2 cents. I've worked on quite a few fitechs, snipers, and terminator x setups at this point and the sniper seems shockingly bad from a longevity and QC perspective. Of the local shops around me, almost none will install these systems for customers anymore because the failure rate is so high. Most recent failure for me personally was the spark circuit burning out of the first unit, and the replacement unit had wires pulled out of the CAN cable. Fixed the CAN cable made it run for 5 minutes all for it to die and refuse to run again. While Key On/Engine Off the injectors hung wide open and filled the intake with fuel. Currently converting that truck back to a carburetor for reliability. I still love my two terminator x cars, but I wouldn't trust the sniper to get me to work every day like I do with the terminator x.

Holley is a bunch of Chinese junk. Any system no matter who makes it with the ECU mounted on the throttle body is JUNK. It's the worst place you could ever put an ECU. Let's mount it in the hottest place we could think of and let it cook and vibrate to death. Well at least they didn't mount it to the exhaust manifolds or headers.

Carburetor deliver the fuel your engine, cam, head flow and exhaust size it wants. After you run it on a dynomometer and the component changes needed. EFI delivers the fuel your system wants to deliver regardless. I have worked on, near or around like literally thousands of OEM factory EFI systems while only having to actually fix or repair 14 of these. The Holley EFI system is 1980 parts with software from 2003. Good choice! You want to go faster, empty you glove box, delete to HVAC system, remove the back seat cushion and seat back, then remove everything from the trunk. Now, go fast! ASE Master Tech

I had to re-wire the sniper system due to sensitive to EMI and RF issues and its better but still an issue!!! plus the throttle linkage is too sensitive, throttle linkage is sticky due to poor design by Holley.

EFI come's with plenty of problems, it's not foolproof. $1200-$1600 for a low-grade TB system. Or just buy a $300+ - $500 carburetor, mostly ready to just sit on and run. I have seen test of slightly smaller carb's against bigger EFI's. Which develop more Hp and Torque. And almost always will bring you home, not leaving you sitting along the side of the road as EFI's can do. I wouldn't mind playing with these EFI's. But not forking out triple the money for less or equal performance.

Hi , I am planning to install a sniper 2 on my 402 BBC and wanted to couple it with a NOS system (maybe 50 shot) . I ordered the sniper 2 and the NOS dry kit , but then Holley informed me that the sniper 2 no longer supports the NOS hook up. Not sure what to do . DO you have the easiest EFI / NOS coupled system?

I've heard horror stories about these. I've also heard that once you buy it, if you throw the injectors, the throttle position sensor and the O2 sensor away and replace them all with AC/Delco parts then it works pretty decent.

I have a crate 306 with a basic Sniper. Been very happy with it. I am going to put a supercharger on this winter. I would like to continue to use the Sniper I have instead of upgrading to the Super Sniper. The tune that's on there now will clearly not work once its boosted. Do you have any suggestions for a base tune to get started? I have heard of people increasing the engine size to make up for the extra air. Like program it as a 390. I called Holley and they just told me to buy a new Sniper. I would appreciate your input.

They make a terminator throttle body kit which I would recommend if you want to stick with throttle body just for the computer not being mounted on the engine. If you want to switch to port injection you can always switch later and not have to completely start from scratch.

Nothing I ever dreamed up for an electric fuel pump was going to make A) The 1250 Sniper, B) Me C) The customer, D) The 45 amp OEM alternator on the car - happy. Anybody want it? I understand the idea behind your online classes for the EFI software tuning because I’m very close to committing to it but my main question or concern is exactly how far does the complete program take a’guy. Is it something a’guy is going to have a good idea on how to tune his hotrod Holley terminator x or is it something he could go out and tune a large amount of Holley EFI setups without much to any difficulty. My issue is what’s the point of buying your program if it doesn’t give him all the information he’d need to go out and tune nearly any Holley setup out there t-x, to dom and n/a to blown meth
