You’re totally right about this. I have a set price limit for what I’ll spend on a nylon item, and as much as I love my Prada nylon pieces, I think the prices lately are getting a little out of control. Luxury prices in general are getting way out of control.

Agree 100%, lately i've really fallen off the shopping bandwagon. I just don't have anything on my radar and all the prices are just a bit much for what I believe to be worth it

With luxury brands the relationship between the cost to manufacture and price charged now basically has no correlation. Its all just about what people are willing to pay. So even if leather costs twice as much as nylon to make, its still probably at most like 10% of the total cost of the bag because the prices have gone up so much. I trust prada nylon way more than other brands, but prada nylon makes sense with the history of the brand, whereas for others it's just random and cheap looking. Prada nylon feels like an aesthetic choice, other brands nylon feels like cost saving.

Hey hun! New subbie here. I think the Prada “re” nylon is recycled which is why it’s cheaper then the traditional nylon. I can understand ur point as to why designer fashion houses are so expensive considering the material. But I think because Prada offers a lot of recycled nylon material for their bags rather then raw materials could be the reason to the price difference. Great and informative video. Love ur channel so far!

I remember when the Re-edition 2000 came out and was actually shocked at the reasonable price... fast forward a few years and it is honestly beyond overpriced imo even at below £1000. I understand that we're not necessarily paying for the materials only when it comes to a bag, but I feel as if they should be at LEAST a little cheaper if the bag is made of cheaper materials. I feel this way about fabric bags in general - Burberry price their Lola leather bags the same as the denim (not sure if they still make it) but I was SHOCKED when I realised. SO shocked at the Peekaboo in nylon too!!! Ridiculous 🤣- great video babe.

Thank you for your input xxx Yeah when they first launched it, I was shocked at the price below 1k CAD, but now I'm like uhm no I'm good ahaha it's basically just a 1k pouch 🤣! Burberry's Lola is an interesting piece, they really tried to do something with that bag, but I don't think it caught on. And the demin version being priced the same as leather is ridiculous, like cotton is WAY cheaper than quilted leather. Also yeah the peekabo is a bit much, they raised the price to 4400 CAD :O

Agreed! I own the prada re-edition and im super happy with it, also got it before all the price increases that happened.. balenciaga also has a lower price point with their nylon pieces, and often goes on sale BUT it doesnt compare with prada’s nylon quality. But over 4k for a nylon bag from those brands is a no no 🙅‍♀️ I laughed so much when you said the speedy was “gross” 😭😂

I LOVE your large Prada bag! You are so right in saying Prada makes the best nylon bags. They are true quality. I would never pay the prices other brands are asking for nylon bags! First, the LV bags were 🤢 in my opinion. It’s a total cash grab for these companies. They think just because their name is on it, it’s worth the prices 🙄. But then look at what people pay for coated canvas 😂

I actually love the Louis nylon pieces and the Balenciaga nylon! The fabric fits the vibe of the shape of some bags and some really comfy Prada nylon jackets! I could see where that beige Louis on the go looks like a mattress 🤔🤔🙃🙃🙃

I have to say I love my Prada nylon messenger for just the reason u said….u don’t have to check the weather forecast before taking it out. Have a leather Prada bag then has rain stains all over it that I can’t get out.

Spending a lot of time in the Pacific NW, I agree that nylon is fabulous for the climate. However, trying to price it the same as fine leather is unreasonable and unappealing. I don’t see a big quality difference with alternative options. I think outdoor companies like Patagonia and contemporary brand MZ Wallace are great options that are also designed to withstand the elements better than high end luxury brands. Having said all that, I have loved my Prada nylon pieces. But at their current prices, I would go for leather pieces.

I agree, I was debating recently between a leather BV piece and a nylon version of the same bag and they were only $150 difference but one was full lamb skin and the other was just nylon so I ended up with the leather version because over 1.2k for a nylon bag is a no from me!

Omg it's over 2k in Canada and sis idk, 2k for nylon is steep 🤷 but like if you love it you love it! I love all my nylon pieces, but as I've been looking into other, cheaper nylon brands, I've really noticed that you can get an amazing nylon bag for less than $100 👀

Hi I'm Tiffany. I'm using my husband's KZread because I can't seem to access mine with my new cell just yet. I have an answer as to why nylon ,well Prada nylon bags are higher in price than leather. It took Prada 3 almost 4 year's to learn how to work with and navigate the nylon they chose to use. The nylon Prada uses is more expensive than silk. The thread is very fine and very precious. Prada first started using this type of nylon in the 1990's until 2019 with the Re-Mylon-Range which consisted of a yarn that was made of recycled plastics, carpet and fishing nets. Even though it's recycled materials the yarn it produces is still considered expensive to produce. The Re-Nylon isn't as expensive as the Prada or Vintage Prada bags of the past but it's still considered quality. Would I purchase a Re-Nylon? No it's not my thing. I have however just purchased a Prada at auction which has me in a conundrum as to what style and type it is. I can't seem to identify it just yet. It has a sky blue background with a black embellished cityscape and a textured grassy bottom. It's been authenticated, but I have no name as to what series it is. I have a penchant for unknowingly choosing rare luxury handbags. Sometimes it's fun and really exciting. Most of the time it's frustrating and takes me months of research, time and money to figure out what I have and then I'm attached and don't want to resale the bag. Lol. By the way of you haven't guessed by now, I sell pre-owned luxury handbags. As far as Prada and their nylon bags are concerned I would advise if you want to own one ( which you do) purchase vintage Prada or Prada pre 2019 Re-Nylom. The bags predating the 2019 Re-Nylon are going up in price by the day. The vintage bags have an almost 321% mark up in value because Prada no longer uses the nylon it once did, not to say the newer nylon isn't a quality product because it is. Vintage Prada is just more precious in my opinion and the market is starting to show I'm not the only one who feels this way. Whatever you decide is right for you and your style is most important when comes down to it. It's not about trends it's about setting your own trend. Luxury handbags are fast becoming the new art investment than art itself. A known painting can make you 11% on your return if you choose to sell it. A luxury handbag vintage or newly purchased ( depending on make ,style and designer) could give you up to 500%on your return.. It blows my mind how handbags are1 becoming more expensive than fine art. It might be something you may want to consider when making future purchases. I just sold a Gucci G Lock accordion black leather handbag Tom Ford era for $950. that I paid $89 for at auction. It's a rare bag and I happened to have two. I'm keeping the other one for myself. Lol. I've only seem two others in the past year. One was listed at $975. from an estate sale. The other was listed at $850. from a private owner that had inherited it. I haven't seen any other's for month's. It'll definitely keep appreciating in price. Sorry for going off subject. I degrees. Yes vintage Prada nylon is worth it. New Prada more or less if it's what your into then go for it. If you don't really love it then may be not. Hope this info helps.

Where do I begin, I would agree, I feel like the newer nylon just doesn't have the same vibe to it, I love that it's more sustainable and has a positive impact on the environment, but for the elevate price, as you said, vintage or older prada nylon is much better in terms of feeling and price!

The 🍵 is HOT today 😂 the prices of these bags are insane. I understand nylon is a huge part of Prada’s brand but these other bags don’t need to be so aggressively expensive. These brands know they can get away with it because people will pay for the name. The puffy on the go is 🤮

I don’t know anything for sure but I would guess the use of nylon would be to appeal to brand loyalists and collectors who might be bored with the same old same old and think that a designer bag in a different material than leather is exciting, new, hip, whatever. I’m still learning I guess just bought a flat Prada messenger and want a backpack but the 3k tag is putting me off.I think I’m a too rugged and sporty for leather and canvas at the moment.

Looked at balenciaga you showed and it is leather not nylon! Anyway is very popular treat nylon like leather look at Fendi and ask for the same price! Worth is not only leather ! You are totally disinformed! There are leather bag of inferior worth versus renylon bag of high value! Different work different fiber different assembled! Example look at Celine bucket vs Prada bucket! It is a different structure. Prada is much better in my opinion. Celine structure is very minimal! Each model is totally different and can be bad even if is ,a Celine! Brand doesnt mean always quality super! You must just not considering the brand! Or the price!
